how about we place bets on the next time our dear Mendes takes a baseless, non-story article from a useless rag and reads its contents as gospel and another sign of Turner's ascension to the coveted Bond throne? I'll wager a million pounds that it'll be this same time tomorrow.

You can bet as much as you like mate but there's not a bookie in the land would give you better odds than 1/1. It's more likely England will win the tournament scoring 10 goals in every game than @Mendes not coming on here and posting more inane drivel at the next bullshit story about who is rumoured to be playing Bond.

Chaps, let's not rush to judgment. We'll just have to wait and see, without setting our expectations high. Just go with the flow. I don't think @Mendes4Lyfe is doing anything harmful, other than just being expressive about his candidate. At least, he's not making a godawful suggestion to bring Disney on board.

We'd get more frequent Bond movies with Disney.

That's why Bond should stay in the hands of little companies with no agendas.

I don't know. I think Mickey Mouse would make a fine James Bond.

From what I heard, he'll be announced next week as 007. I know it's true because a bookie told me. Moving fast, EON is.

So the mention of Mickey Mouse in SP was actually EON's way of prophetically teasing the new distributor?! Genius! ;)

Of course. How could I not have seen that. See, that terrible script for SP was really a work of prophecy unmatched in the history of mankind, so complex in its subtleties that us rubes could never hope to understand it. ;) EON's sneaky that way. ;)

@Mendes, check the trade papers, you know, the professionals whose reputations are based on "breaking news"... Not a whisper, I'm afraid. Not from the big three: Deadline, Variety, Hollywood Reporter... They only report sources that are actually in the know, and these people aren't bookies (who themselves can't stand not being in the rags for more than a few days).

Doubt we will have a bond until 2018-2020. If Craig does return he's obviously very busy has a lot of projects and if they are getting a new actor then they wouldn't be stupid enough to announce it anytime soon.

Spectre literally just came out 6 months ago lol. Typical tabloid bs.
  • The Metro story is the equivalent of empty calories. It's based on the activities of bookies. Bookies don't know. The people placing the bets don't know.

The good news about stories like this is they show there's a continuing interest in James Bond. The bad news is stories like this.

When Hiddleston is cast as bond #7 I suggest we send a therapist over to mendes4lyfe's house as I would fear for his personal safty

    What am I missing?
Why can't Eon simply get busy putting together a story, script, rough budget for B25 and ask Craig if he wants in. He's the logical choice to continue. He's got at least one more film in him, maybe two.
If Craig is non-committal, its probably because there is no offer on the table.
I'm not a big fan of SP but I blame that on Mendes, but I did like Craig's work in SP. A fine performance as Bond I thought.

Didn't they close the books on the title artist when , allegedly, a large bet was placed on Radiohead? In their defense, the band did do a song that was not selected.

Yes, instead of just taking it as some kind of an entertainment piece, and taking it easy, some people treat "rumours" or "news" as if their lives are dependent on it. Just pull back, sit, relax and wait. That isn't hard, now, is it?

@Mendes is any time someone mentions Turner.

So far I generally ignore most of what is said in this thread as it contains guesses and nothing really with content. I will wait what will happen but I do hope we get a presentation of a 007 and director soon, simply because that means they are actually working on the next one. Something to look forward to.

Think about it. Everyone expected Mourinho to become the next Man U manager, but were they disappointed when he was announced?

Aidan Turner pulls ahead of the pack, that's interesting. Now they're telling us he will be announced next week? Fantastic!! =D>

I pity anyone who has to interact with you on a daily basis. They should be given the George Cross.

    'They're telling us'

Who do you mean by 'they' in that article? William Hill or jobbing hack Olivia Waring who has been told to come up with a paragraph to put in the Metro before she goes back to her main task of photocopying and making the tea?

Has your million dollar cheque come through from the Nigerian lottery yet? Pretty sure 'they' said they'd send it straight after you paid the $500 admin fee. And you sent that about 18 months ago didn't you?

I hate how the media draws the conclusion that Craig is leaving just because he might have turned down the offer of two more films... I thought all this mess wasn't supposed to start until later this year..

I really want to see him in one more film.. I shall be very disappointed when/if the official announcement come and and say that he leaves. But I feel thats the only thing that awaits us now...with all the talks about that tv-show. I hope I'm wrong...

Some people are overreacting. This thread is clearly for discussing rumours as much as it is for facts. If you don't like someone's comments, just scroll over them. Nobody is forcing you to read them.

To be honest, these complaints about @Mendes4Lyfe are spamming the thread more than anything else.

Nothing wrong with a bit of enthusiasm, and I for one enjoy all the
    discussions around the rumours. :)
