I have a feeling something leaked somewhere regarding Turner. Hence the betting at William Hill & Ladbrokes last week. Inside information? At least they're moving ahead which is good news. I would assume that an actor in tow along with a draft script or at least concept could interest a distributor. Exciting times.

And it took 6 months to replace roger Moore 4 times

I will believe it when I see it

:D INDEED!! Also, if the new film will be start alone, it's much easier to move forward with just a simple mission outline (like Dr No was, for instance). I don't think they would be interested in complicating things too much.

Mendes I wonder if you would be this enthusiastic if Hiddleston was the number 1 choice

Under ordinary circumstances, I think there would be very little news or speculation about the status of the role. Perhaps it is not very similar to the circumstances surrounding Brosnan's final film, because he was wholly expected to be back at the time. Nevertheless, even with the mixed signals from people involved in the franchise, this typically wouldn't elicit all of the hoopla we've seen. With the looming studio rights up for grabs, it seems pretty likely to me that all of the media coverage and speculation is being manufactured from signals given by EON to gain the firmest leverage going into negotiations.

The way this will probably play out will depend upon the partnership that forms and their expected timetable for the franchise. I really only expect that to be announced in the near future. If a new actor is announced simultaneously, it could give us an idea as to the dynamic of that partnership and the estimated time we may see Bond back on the silver screen.

This is just my perspective on it anyway. If you don't agree, no need to get into a dispute.

The article doesn't mention anything about Turner's schedule being accommodated if he lands the part. That bit of the summary kind of implies something that's not really in the article. The only real takeaway here is that Barbara Broccoli is searching for Craig's replacement. Turner's chances one way or the other aren't really addressed.

This does, however, seem to be a bit more concrete than the tabloid BS that we've been reading, but it's still coming from someone who really doesn't have any real insight into the process.

If Craig is being replaced thats on Craig IMO. Babs said she would do whatever it took to get him to come back.

Exactly. And next week it could be someone else in first place. I think the takeaway is that the search is on, but there won't be any announcements any time soon.

Why walk away from this great role?! He must mad to even consider it. Come on Craig, man up and give the fans what they want! What are you going to do for the rest of your life? Trust me, the Broadway audiences will evaporate within a year or two of departing from Bond!

It's a two-way street. Don't kid yourself that you are a superstar without Bond.

I doubt, he does. Plus I am almost sure, he is not crazy about superstardom. Its him, who says such things as " I am ooking forward to the times, when I walk into a bar and nobody cares"
And he IS doing other stuff now, that might create a new sort of popularity for him (the TV series) We will see. But not being all that famous anymore will hardly make him chiver.

but tjanks for wanting him to go on :)

I was about to say something similar. I've never gotten the impression he wants to be a superstar. Many actors don't. Some people will then say "yeah, right, why did he do that role then?" But a role like Bond (or another franchise) can still be interesting one for an actor to do, and it also gives name recognition that will give an opportunity to get more roles, and of course it gives financial security for life. Fame can be a burden and not everyone is after it. He won't lack opportunities to work, and he'll be fine with smaller stuff, be it movies, tv or theatre.

Name of the 3th movie: RISICO

I've been here before (Moonraker ??) But always hit the floor. (For Your Eyes Only ??) Tell me is this where I give it all up? (Octopussy ??) For you I have to risk it all.. (AVTAK ??) :P

Daniel's time as bond has gone so quickly.

It seems like it was only yesterday when people were whining over his casting as bond, especially over his hair color.

    June Announcement?

    https://www.facebook.com/jamesbonddownunder/photos/pb.975184179242576.-2207520000.1465210106./1081636925263967/?type=3&theater

I'm not sure of the validity of the source but a James bond fansite has claimed that an announcement is due sometime this month.....

I truly doubt it is the news of who the next Bond will be. Remember it took two years for them to settle on Daniel Craig; plus they don't even have a script, director or even a distributor yet!

This announcement could be the news on the studio who has acquired distribution, the writers, director or even Craig's departure.

Well, I hope they make an official claim of something, at least. Otherwise, some people will really go mad over here.

Agreed. I hope it's something substantial too, whatever it might be. I don't need an actor announcement necessarily, but certainly something about the distributor or even a possible writer would be helpful, as others have said.

Sam Mendes recently said that whoever got the role would be a total surprise. So looked outside the obvious Hiddleston's and Turners and started looking at Matthew Goode. Handsome, posh but has an intensity and villainous smile. I understand that he was screen-tested along with Henry Cavill and others for Casino Royale but did say recently that he hasn't been involved in any talks for Bond 25. If Hiddleston is too polite then I think the slightly more menancing Goode would be a good alternative, imho.

Indeed. Something to indicate that there is a progression on their behalf.

Sorry but no. James Bond can't have such a weak chin like that,

I've been seeing too many people choosing Matthew Goode. I don't know about the others, but I don't see a glimpse of Bondian aspect about him.

Really? Bond is a seducer and a killer. He handsome, cunning, charming and urbane. A sociopath in other words. Most of the things I've seen Matthew Goode in he ticks all the right boxes. He was both charming and dangerous in the brilliant Stoker. I think he has all the right elements for me.

Right now I think the news that's gonna come first is who the new distributor is gonna be. I think that needs to come first. Then the director/writers, then who is playing Bond

I admit I haven't seen his recent works, only a few of his earlier films. So far, I'm not convinced. Any film you recommend?
