Once Upon A Spy sounds too contrived so it's a no from me. Clearly a variation on the phrase: Once Upon A Time. Sounds like a spy movie spoof that the late Leslie Nielson would have appeared in:

    ;)

Death To Spies - sounds more dramatic, part of the established Bond-verse (The Living Daylights). Yep, I'd go with that or something else.

I don't think Once Upon A Spy works in the same way as Live and Let Die or You Only Live Twice. I doubt they'd use that.
I agree, because those titles can be explained. Once Upon A Spy ? I don't get it.

Can't wait! It feels like we've waited so long to see Bond return and now finally here we are. Looking forward to seeing the title, the cast, the car and just finally in the know
somewhat so we can excited on more than just source less rumours.

As for title guesses I don't mind,
    Eclipse
Anything Fleming would be cool, Once Upon A Spy, sounds Bondian but it does have a little bit of Austin Powers/Johnny English vibe to me (still wondering if @Pierce2Daniel knows something)
I would love to see it be, Death To Spies, but I'm not gonna hold my breath on that

I'd be interested to see why @Pierce2Daniel would be willing to bet 1000 pounds on

Once Upon A Spy being the title.

Well considering that I predicted the plot would involve a retired Bond living in Jamaica back in 2015 and in 2018 predicted that there would be a female 007…..I’d say my hunches are pretty spot-on with this film.

The title makes sense. This is Craig’s last film and Bond is bought out of retirement. Plus it’s evocative of Fleming, it’s been a previous title under consideration and has a melancholic ‘No Country for Old Men’ vibe.

Based on the very little we now, it feels appropriate. It’s purely guess work.

Heaven forbid that they actually call this film ‘Eclipse’………………yikes.

The left-over Fleming titles are precisely that. Left-over.

I think they are all a little hideous and clunky. However, the most hideous and clunky title ‘Quantum of Solace’ actually got used, so anything is possible.

The most cinematic is THE PROPERTY OF A LADY – but even that feels a little stale and kitsch.

I need this to be the title!

I'd be fully satisfied with Once Upon A Spy. It sounds like a terrific and intellectual title.

And those arguing the title was used before, take a look at this.

    I'm with @Pierce2Daniel.

Pure guesswork, but of all the rumored/unused titles, Once Upon a Spy is runaway my favorite. I don't think it's too Austin Powers at all. It's that perfect balance of Fleming-inspired playing on an existing line -- a great pun, but still can be interpreted dead seriously enough than it lends itself to the film's (presumed) tone.

I can't wait to find out. All very close now!

Once upon a time a young boy called James was asked "what do you want to be when you grow up?" Young James pondered for a moment and said "a secret agent."

It's too parodic for my tastes.

'Once upon a time' is a universally recognized phrase in literature. Why would the producers want to appropriate that?

There's "Once upon a time in Hollywood" coming from Tarantino.
I don't think they are going to step in something so similar

Fleming liked to appropriate existing phrases and add a twist, so why not EON?

I'm just surprised that outside of Eclipse, we haven't heard any other rumblings about a potential title which makes me to believe that it's probably it.

Well that is "borrowing" from Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in the West and Once Upon a Time in America.

I don't have a problem with the "Once Upon " and think the potential title has a certain poetic quality to it that I like.

    Someone to confirm something, please.

Good Morning America and Good Morning Britain, will both shows have a special 007 episode this Thursday??

    ;)

If Craig's Bond is retired at the start of Bond 25... the title could reflect that. How about:

    A RETURN TO DUTY

Or "Return to Service" - the title we used on a 35mm title sequence test we shot for Eon and screened for Cubby and BB and the team in Theatre 7 at Pinewood not long before GE started production. I remember Eon rather liked the title.

Yes, but they came out 50 and 30 years ago, not roughly 10 months before 007.
no way they are going to call a movie so similar to one coming out in 2 months

Well the overwhelming odds are that it isn't the title ; that alone makes the probability of your being right very high. With that said, If it's a title that they are set on, the title of another film wouldn't come into play.

    “For Queen & Country”

Would be a great title. We need a longer title than “Eclipse”, especially not a movie named after Twilight.

Also. I am assuming the Press conference is this Thursday and then GMA will interview some of the cast on Friday. Not sure why they would say it’s two days.

Some kind of Hero is the most bondion title I have heard in a while but once upon a spy sounds intriguing as well.

Didn't Peter Morgan come up with OUAS? Can't see him being too happy if they use it for B25.

Yes, we used it as the title on the test sequence because we thought Dalton would be back, i.e. returning to service after the events of LTK. ( In fact we hired a Dalton look alike for our re-worked GB opening, entering the gun as the chamber was rolled up in to the gun and then, aiming at Bond, BANG! And shooting down the GB, spinning with the bullet as it sped down the barrel towards Bond, and then seeing the bullet shoot out of the front of the barrel and hitting a reflection of Bond and the mirror glass exploding - check GE titles which closely follow what we did with spinning down the GB and seeing the bullet exit it, but we did our version with specifically constructed large scale models and not using CGI.) Anyway, back to Bond 25.

Slightly surprised Eon have yet to announce the date. Though it’s all but confirmed to be Thursday.

I suspect Eon don’t want to give the heads up to media outlets as the leaks will ensue as soon as people get a heads up that there is “something” to announce.

Thanks for sharing, Colonel! Return to Service makes me think of the Gardner novels! I had always hoped as a kid to see some of those made or used.

Agree. I always liked For Special Services - I think that's where I got the idea for the title test credit.
