Personally, I believe they wouldn't need to show the kidnap of the scientist if Felix was to turn up at Bond's home only to repeat everything that we've already seen five minutes previously. I think the kidnap will happen before and off-screen, and the first time we hear about it is from Felix himself.

The time-elapse makes sense in the PTS. They could even go so far as to digitally de-age Craig a little bit to show the difference with the passage of time.

Very very excited about the details announced today!!! Bond is truly coming back!!! However like everyone else I am disabled that the title wasn't revealed however as exciting as that plot sypnosis sounds I am having a hard time finding it on the 007 website, Where exactly is it posted as the official sypnosis?

Shortly after the stream, a synopsis was revealed which confirms that the film begins with Bond living a simple life. “Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica,” it reads. “His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

I'm disappointed in the idea of Rami Malek being the main Bond villain, based mainly on his look--he just doesn't look to me like a threatening villain type compared to previous Bond villains--he looks more in the line of Mr. Green. There seems to be some question (from what I've read) that Malek may not play the main villain. Just saw an Express story which says he will "likely" play a villain. I'm thinking it could be possible that Bond deals with or fights Malek, but behind Malek could be the return of Blofeld, or another nemesis or evil guy who we haven't seen in Bond films yet. Maybe we'd see henchmen bust Blofeld out of prison.

The press release says "The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology." Maybe that "mysterious villain" is Malek, and maybe it isn't--maybe it would be Blofeld or someone else.

During today's reveal video, Craig was wearing running shoes--c'mon man, have some class! Connery wouldn't have shown up like that. (Don't get me wrong; I've liked Craig as Bond.) I guess he likes to play the rebel. Everyone else there suited up.

Felix just 'turns up' does he. Would be poorly worded even for a film with a budget equal to what they spent on that press coverage, never mind one with their budget.

What am I missing here? What’s wrong with the phrase “turns up”?

It’s the writing equivalent of “yada yada yada”.

I feel like Malek saying he planned to give Mr. Bond a hard time was him confirming he’s the lead villain.

My guess; Pre-title scenes set just after SP, with Bond and Maddy in Italy

The said that they were in Jamaica. So this is where the PTS will take place, unless we have a PTS without Bond.

No, they said at the start (meaning start of the main story) we find Bond in Jamaica retired from service. I am saying the pre-title sequence is set just after SP, with Bond and Maddy and a car chase in Italy (with DB5) and then, after titles, we jump 4 years later and find Bond and Maddy in Jamaica.

Or maybe the PTS won't feature Bond. The kidnap of that scientist, perhaps?

My money is they will want Bond in action in the pre-title sequence before we see him retired. I'm betting on what I've suggested. BB may say, "first time we see Bond he's not active and living in Jamaica," but that's just broad speak and she's not going to give away the pre-title sequence. I also think they will want to remind the audience of Maddy and Bond being together and Bond leaving Mi6 (from end of SP) so a pre-title sequence, in which this can be re-established within the drama and action, can help do this too. And then a 4 year jump in time, from 2015 pre-titles to 2019 present, also tells us Bond is quite past his 007 days - which means he has more at stake to give up when Felix arrives asking for his help.

Barbara says, Bond ‘starts his journey here’ which suggests to me we may get a PTS sans Bond.
  • I think the kidnapped scientist lives in that house that they filmed in Norway. The girl running away is probably the daughter of the scientist.

The incredible cast more than makes up for the lack of a new title. This film is going to be one for the ages. Obviously not on level with Casino Royale, but certainly a memorable one.

What a boring event. Malek's casting was the worst kept secret in Hollywood, but the one thing I was hoping for was the return of Jeffrey Wright as Felix. The last couple of movies could have done with his presence.
But why no title reveal? Have they simply not decided yet? Does it depend on the final draft of the script (which is still being worked on!). Hmmm. Very odd.
And Daniel Craig looked thoroughly bored by the whole thing. He really has zero charisma off screen. In fact, I'm sure I saw him looking at his wrists a couple of times!

Despite the fact that having Vesper's grave in Matera doesn't make a lot of sense. To me Vesper felt like a done deal (from 007 perspective) when he threw away Vesper's videotape in SP... Plus, I don't see Bond hiding happily in Jamaica right after being chased in the PTS, even if that particular scene took place right after SP events. He's relaxing in Jamaica because he quitted when the job was done. But in the end it all depends how they would handle such situations...

I'm getting the same feeling, that Blofeld might be behind Malek's character. Although not sure how that could happen with Blofeld behind bars...

You could be totally right, MooreFun. But I also wonder if what he said there could be a red herring. Or maybe he plays a Dario kind of character.

Great cast - especially happy about Leiter's return and the addition of Ana De Armas. The synopsis is very appealing, too. I like the sound of the way the story is shaping up.

However, it was all very limp, badly put together, and a rather pitiful use of an iconic location which could have been a very special reveal. I'd rather they had waited another little while and been able to give us something a bit more substantial.

Though, not going to complain too much - as I said, the cast and synopsis seem strong and that's what counts.

But we know that the Norway scene is in the PTS, So Norway, Italy and Jamaica (PTS or right after the main titles) in the first 20 minutes of the movie? Not likely.

The PTS will have the Norways scenes and show the reason why Leiter turns up in Jamaica looking for Bond's help. When the clapperboards keep coming in we will connect the dots for sure.

Indeed, it is very possible that the PTS does not take place in Jamaica and does not include Bond at all.

I'm very happy with all, not bothered by the title lack. Only thing is, very strange that Jeffrey Wright wasn't there. From the synopsy he is going to appear in Jamaica

Predictions: David Dencik will be playing the scientist, kidnapped by Rami Malek's character to create a powerful weapon that will break Blofeld out of prison.

Thoughts: Great cast and still great secrecy. They seem intent on running a tight ship (after all, was it reported anywhere that a set had already been constructed in Jamaica?). Synopsis sounds intriquing and hinting at a return to a more classical Bond Villain Scheme perhaps?

Sure the event was a little off, but then it wasn't advertised as a press conference. So it can't particularly be compared to one.

As for the quotes about Daniel Craig's "lack of enthusiasm ... Perhaps he just doesn't feel comfortable with live interviews. With his history of the press there's a perfect understanding why-think back to the casino royale announcement, he was hardly overly enthused then. Acting, rather that promoting is his and all the other cast members jobs, obviously there is an element of overlap, but You can still be an actor and not a confident public speaker. And besides that live "audience" questions are always an awkward affair. Credit to Naomie Harris though who seems a pro at handling such events.

Lack of title? Meh. All the franchises seem to like saving titles now to later revelations to generate further interest.
Overall, just very glad it's now all in motion

I think its finally about time to put the blofeld rumors to bed. The reveal was quite awkward, but who cares. Eon dont gain much in the long run from these early reveals, unlike marvel. Happy with the information we got. Thrilled about wright. Montage was cool. I got everything I wanted but the title.

We don't know the Norway scenes are for the pre-titles, that's just speculation (Has anyone seen the scene numbers on the clapperboards?). Equally there is speculation/rumour about the Italy scenes being pre-titles, but I am betting the Norway scenes are a Maddy flashback (for whatever dramatic reason later in the film, perhaps in Jamaica where she might still fear of enemies catching up with her and Bond) and the Italy car chase is the pre-title action sequence - Bond having to fight one last time (he hopes) to survive, and protect Maddy, before he can finally be free of Mi6 and the job -- until Felix turns up a few years later. That's my guess. But it is a guess.
