Fresh article today, jamaicaobserver.com, Babs & Michael on why they choose Jamaica

    What's in a location?
The producers discuss why film Bond 25 in Jamaica

    https://jamaicaobserver.com/entertainment/

My guess is when they start shooting today it will be at the fake villa somewhere along the coastline of Port Antonio/Portland. Clue? The five star hotel Trident with the actors (map) is in that costal area. Pure logic tells me they won't drive very far to the location.

Been trying to find the villa (small sandbank really) with the help from the snippet of the set building/sandbank/leafy lagoon shown in the press conf. Not an easy task.

Wild idea: Someone should email Observers journalist who interviewed Babs/Michael and ask him politely more about the area, possible location(s), sending us (this forum) fresh pics/vids, etc, unless there's already some hardcore fan in the area?

I know the area a little and posted a few possible locations in the filming thread. San San beach. Frenchmans Cove. Blue Lagoon. Trident Castle.

They also filmed the Tom Cruise movie Cocktail in this area. The resort is still there but disused and abandoned.

I know that about the Cocktail-beach. Seen the pics with the old bar area.

Regarding Bond I think the fake villa has been built within the blue lagoon. Just posted pics in comparison in the filming thread.

Funny you say this. I had been about to suggest it as a possible location for Bond's house based on the photos I'd seen.

The guy who owns Trident hotel (a Chinese Jamaican busienssman) also I believe owns some of the shoreline around the Blue Lagoon and has been planning to redevelop it for years.

Michael Lee Chin is the guy.
    http://old.jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/20090809/business/business1.html

There's an old Chinese community in Jamaica. Very successful in business and music production. Byron Lee was ethnically Chinese I think.

This article says he's Canadian but pretty sure he has Jamaican heritage.

    http://jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/20150125/lead/lead2.html

Francesca von Habsburg owns one of the most beautiful private villas in the area.

    https://kingstonbellearchive.wordpress.com/2017/03/03/inside-the-habsburg-retreat/

On second thoughts looking at the photos you sourced on the other thread I am not so sure it's Blue Lagoon. There's not much in the way of beach there. Hard to tell.

I don't no either. Just thought it was very similiar side-by-side. Some other member here said they gonna shoot on a private beach.

Still, all the research stuff and seeking info is quite fun.

    Yep.

Cary has a private account, which is https://www.instagram.com/carybuu/

But there is zero point adding that account as he only uses it for family and friends.

However, it looks as though he has set up a public Instagram and is sharing photos from the set which is awesome! He's even following his dog and some other dude. Which hints towards this being real.

He's also replying to some comments. Someone asked if he was shooting in 75mm and he responded "not every shot, dude".

I think any Bond fans on Instagram should be following this account.

Private beach makes more sense. In which case it could be almost anywhere along that coastline.

Surprised we don't have more from local sources.

A thought on Lynch. She has Jamaican heritage and according to the local press speaks fluent Jamaican patois. So I wonder if she might be playing a British agent under cover in Jamaica. Someone who can pass as local. Would make more sense of her casting.

@Getafix honestly mate that's great thinking I'd prefer that, maybe if she has a similar role to Naomi at the start of Skyfall, instead of her being in the film throughout as Bond's understudy or 007 replacement which fills me with dread.

Nothing against Miss Lynch personally, I don't know her work but she seems like a fine actor but I hope Ana De Armas is in the film more because I feel she has a more interesting premise and she has a more captivating presence. We'll see anyway...

So excited they start filming today

I'm surprised the name Paloma has been added on iMDb, but Nomi hasn't, even though the Lynch has confirmed the name herself.

Craig is a good actor, but the franchise desperately needs someone who actually likes and appreciates playing Bond. This has to be Craig's last film.

Where is the evidence that Craig neither likes nor appreciates it? I know you’re being deliberately provocative, but do share.

Forget the "slash my wrists" comment and focus on the last sentence.

To understand his comments you have to understand Craig. Perhaps it’s because I’m from his neck of the woods, where misanthropy and irony go hand in hand. Take it at face value if you must, I’m sure it suits the party line.

No, it's Cary... Who can post a photo of a clapperboard? (Yes, it could have been a crewmember, but surely Fukunaga would notice it if somebody of the crew posted under his name, and besides why would anybody do that?)

It’s also worth following Lashana Lynch. She’s always posting.

She posted a story on instagram an hour ago. I suspect it’s from Jamaica. Which must mean that Nomi is involved with filming this week. Plus she’s been hitting the gym.

I'm going to have to catch Captain Marvel at some point, because she's done not much else. Does she have a prominent supporting part in that film?

Well she plays the part of the best friend of the protagonist. I believe only Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson and Jude Law have more screen time than her. BTW movie is garbage, but she does a decent job, given the script. She's plays the badass, independent woman.

So if David Dencik will be a villain, could either Dali Benssalah or Ana de Armas be the scientist, or maybe the part hasn't been cast yet?

I mean I guess so but kidnapped kinda implies that he's not a villain to me and also with nothing to really confirm that he is the scientist, there's still an option for them to be played by someone else.

    Could all be a trap.

I like the way the very brief plot synopsis has thrown up all kinds of intriguing questions. It feels very old school back to basics Bond. Hope it lives up to my expectations.

My thought as well. Dencik could play a double-crossing character to perfection.

He's the best thing about the second season of Top of the Lake (which is otherwise awful) and also stood out in a brief early role in McMafia.
