Not as recent as the story about his new movie with Halle Berry.
It would be great if he did return but it would be all for naught if all of the other elements, including script, direction, music, etc., are not there.
It may seem simplistic but I say put as much of the Casino Royale band back together and let Craig, Campbell and Arnold bookend this series.
@talos7 Fully agreed.
See following reply. Deadline: Hollywood tweaked its phrasing. (edit)
That's funny because that's the one I would put off doing! It's just so iconic. It would be interesting though to see a modern take. But I feel that way about all of them.

Neither 'Lucky Logan' or 'Kings' sound appealing to me. But I could be wrong, they may end up being really good. But of course, I'd still rather see him as Bond one last time.
I don't think signing onto another project indicates he will or won't do Bond. He did after all do four films in between QOS and SF. And if this Kings movie goes through, he'll now have four projects in the works (with Purity, Logan Lucky, and Othello on Broadway).
He does seem to be keeping busy, but if he and EON want to make another Bond, then they'll make it happen. For all we know, EON told him not to expect any movement on Bond until, say, mid-2017, and to do whatever he wants until then.
My biggest concern is that if that is the case, the rumors about Hiddleston are possibly true. I have always had a negative feeling about him from seeing some of his interviews. For all his talent and intelligence I always found something phony about him. His conduct over the last two weeks where he has pimped this so called Swift relationship, deliberately posing daily for paps in the most opportunistic and cheesy way just sucks. Babs may be going for a more charming, posh style to return to the earlier lighter tone, but at least choose an actor that isn't an embarrassment. I'd be happy with just about anyone now but him.
This is good to hear, even though I want him out.
As for the new movie - IF his committment changed to ? due to Bond, it can only mean, a decision is around the corner, as they won't wait months.
Certainly hope they're not waiting for Craig, we had a long wait for SPECTRE because they waited for Mendes, a mistake in my opinion, they need to get on course for a Bond every two years (I'm not getting any younger!) and go with a new team, new Bond, new writers and new director. Get it done! No more navel-gazing, missions, missions, missions!
I know if I were head of a corporation which made a guaranteed billion dollars per movie, I'd be wanting to make as many Bond movies as possible! Doesn't make sense. Bond is a cash cow right now. If there isn't an official statement by the end of the year confirming release date, director and Bond actor, then EON / MGM have lost the plot. The Bond brand is too Important and too lucrative to put to sleep.
Yep. It's happened to every single Bond actor thus far. In fact, Connery and Moore had their second film a year after their first.
That isn't necessary, though, and even if he did it, it wouldn't be a full-time job or anything. What would he do - have conversations with them every now and then? That wouldn't mean he couldn't work on anything else.
Hopefully, once he gets back to working on a film, we might get some more solid news about his future in the franchise.
