Wiz is right, lads. Let's press the red button on our slang slamming and move on, lest we get the mods upset and bring the thread further off the rails.

    Because that wouldn't be goals.

With all of the new posts, I thought for sure that there was some big news announced today. Well, okay then people, carry on.

    YOLO @TheWizardOfIce

This thread has jumped the shark more often than all Shonda Rhimes shows totalled up and those shows are still running, Grey's is in its 13th season for Heaven's sake.
So this thread has a long way to go.

It's not the thread that's the problem, it's the people who feel the need to constantly contaminate it with all sorts of drivel like "YOLO" and "everything on planet Earth is goals" and "if we wait until Poldark ends it's run in 2019, we can get Aiden Turner." Of course who am I to talk, right? ;)

This thread is amazing Jake do not be scared for it's future, a problem post here and there is no real cause for concern. Although I think it will be intellectually barren and running on fumes until we finally hear news of the next Bond moovie in Spring 2018.

We are in somewhat of a news dry spell at the moment which, I dare say, is anything but goals.

Paul Haggis: time is right for black James Bond

The time is right for a black James Bond, and Eon producer Barbara Broccoli might be brave enough to hire one, said writer/director Paul Haggis, kicking off Friday’s Script to Screen Summit presented by Winston Baker here at Toronto International Film Festival (Sept 8-18).

Haggis, who wrote the screenplays for Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace, noted he had no connection to Bond anymore but he said “I would go for a black Bond.

“Barbara [Broccoli] is really brave, and so is Michael [G Wilson], I think she might do it. “ He added that Broccoli already proved her bravery “and took a lot of heat” in hiring Daniel Craig as the first blond Bond. “She just didn’t care, she’s very brave, she’s wonderful.”

The brave thing would be for Brocc to tell all of the anti-white cultural imperialists to piss off, that Bond is white, full stop, and that he will remain white as long as she helms the franchise. But she's not that brave.

It isn't goals in the slightest @Jake24. Sandra Bullock's legs airbrushed in Gravity, now those are goals. :)

Everybody has their own sense of humor (humour for my Brit friends). Cannot believe some people are ragging on each other over posting something someone found amusing and wanted to share.

Lighten up, people. Seriously. @RC7 you often have thoughtful, insightful comments; but you can sometimes stomp on people harshly. Hey, maybe that is warranted at times in a discussion, but to be that negative about a comedy bit? You can say you don't like it without being so rude and nasty to the poster and others whose humor doesn't match yours. Same for you, @Wiz, though I have to say much as I enjoy your wit at times, your consistent negative bashing (on all fronts pretty much, basically any time you get on the keyboard) piles up to ... well, a stinking pile of negativity that is neither often warranted nor witty, let alone deserved. You can do better than that. I do value your opinion and at times your humor, yes. But it's a bit much at the moment.

Now go ahead and stomp on me all you want. C'est la vie here. I'm not on so often these days, I know. But I've known many of you here for years. Just thought I'd say my piece on this. The negative crap, when it turns to being rude to members directly, is not a good thing for this or any forum.

Am I right in thinking you are a teacher @4EverBonded?

I'm sensing your desire to send some members to the naughty step!

In fact I think you just did it.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the new M.

Okay didn't realize this forum was full of a bunch of 30-40 year old immature losers who aren't caught up on American culture... Remember SF came out in 2012, I was a senior in high school and a lot of the major theaters I went to was full of high schoolers. That doesn't mean that makes up the entire box office? I don't think most of the people posting in this thread realize that a lot of movie goers just go to the movies to go and don't really care or know anything about the film.

I can't tell you how many times I have been to a movie this year and you see a bunch of high school or college aged kids texting or on the phone the entire time. It's more of a social thing. It's not full of Bond fans or professional movie critics.

There's no point in locking this thread and there's no way to not go slightly off topic. Face it there is virtually no news and judging by Daniel Craig's schedule he won't make an announcement until possibly next year.

For the rest of the year we are going to get links to bs made up stories from daily mail..

//They waited another year for Mendes, which I can understand given SF's box office, but it seems like they just said to Logan 'Can you get the script written by two weeks before we start shooting?' and then left him to it.//

They did NOT wait "another year" for Mendes. Bond 24/SPECTRE was never going to come out in 2014. It was *always* going come out in 2015. When a Sony executive said it'd come out in 2014, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig shot him down in an interview. (Link provided much earlier in this thread.)

It didn't matter whether Mendes was going to be the director or somebody else. Barbara Broccoli does not want to make Bond movies on an every-other-year schedule.

    EDIT: Here's the link, again:
    http://collider.com/daniel-craig-barbara-broccoli-skyfall-interview/#more-162975

    From that link:
Last week Rory, the president of distribution of Sony, announced Bond 24 for I guess late 2014…

Broccoli: He was getting a little overexcited (laughs). We’re just actually focusing on this movie. One hopes that in the future we’ll be announcing other films, but no one’s officially announced it.

Craig: No one’s announced anything. He got a little ahead of himself (laughs). It’s very nice that he has the confidence to be able to do that, but we haven’t finished this movie yet.

Also, in 2012, Barbara Broccoli was interviewed by the Los Angeles Times.

    http://articles.latimes.com/2012/nov/14/entertainment/la-et-mn-skyfall-next-james-bond-movie-20121113

Though they expressed frustration at the legal challenges that led to a four-year gap between the most recent Bond movies, they say they won’t allow themselves to be governed by the calendar, either.

"Sometimes there are external pressures from a studio who want you to make it in a certain time frame or for their own benefit, and sometimes we’ve given into that," Broccoli said. "But following what we hope will be a tremendous success with 'Skyfall,' we have to try to keep the deadlines within our own time limits and not cave in to external pressures."

Again, she doesn't want to make Bond movies on an every-other-year schedule. She wants to do Indie-style dramas in between Bond movies. There was never any way Bond 24/SPECTRE was going to come out in 2014.

People that act like that in a movie theater should leave. What the hell are they paying money to see a movie for if they don't even care to watch the damn thing? They fit into the same obnoxious crowd who loudly hold discussions during pivotal moments and kick the backs of people's chairs.

I agree. So many people have zero consideration for other people. Sad to see. It's mostly civil and pretty quiet and mobile phone free at theatres here still. If texting during movies spreads to theatres I go to and other crap behaviour there increases I'll stop going. I hope it won't get to that as I love watching movies in theatre.

So far I haven't conversed with anyone about it, but my cynicism would make me reiterate that right now there is no James Bond movie even remotely in the works so shelling out $150 for a film that doesn't exist wouldn't make sense.
On the optimistic side, I might reply that the Craig rumors are in fact rumors and hopefully he'll be back anyway.

Most of the theaters I frequent are full of high school and middle school kids just ruining the experience for others. It is really disappointing!

I see almost all of my movies at the Alamo Drafthouse, where they don't put up with any bullshit - people are using their phones or talking? Flag down a server with a note and the manager will give them only one warning (if that) before kicking them out without a refund.

News outlets and the media, especially the digital society encourages basic flaws in people's cognitive insight and selectively rewards developments of convenient half-thruths.

@mcdonbb, you have a ton of them down near Dallas, yeah? I know they originated in Texas, and I was somehow lucky enough to live close to the first one built on the East Coast.
