Breaking news. The new bond is confirmed as....Sir Roger Moore

Barbara Brocolli: 'at a time like this we need a safe pair of hands. Roger is guaranteed box office'

    But isn't Moore too old?
'well I said I was about 400 years too old back in 85, now I'm only about 500 years. What's the difference. '

'CGI can do wonders nowadays. You can get a stuntman to do the action and then cgi my face on to his. Simples. I can do all the scenes where I'm sitting down and of course the love scenes. I'm still up to that.'

'I'm going to bring the films back to where they belong. I'm rung up my old mate Victor Tourjansky. No classic chase scene is complete without him. And I'm bringing back the double taking animals. But this time lots more of them.'

Was he surprised to be offered the part at his age?

'Yes of course I was. One does say never say never but I really thought the boat had sailed for me. I was heartened by the comments on mi6 community (of which I'm a regular reader and contributor) saying that there is no age limit on Bond, and that 60 is the new 40. Something like that anyway. That really gave me the confidence to say yes.'

Will the writing take account of his advanced age?

'Maybe a bit, but overall I'm thinking just play it like we did before when I was only 400 years too old.'

    @DaltonCraig007 will be thrilled!

I'll say! More thrilled than Mrs. Whistler when she got those pictures of the canals for the children.

Honestly Guy Ritchie as Director either Craig coming back or a new 007 (preferbly Tom Hardy or Michael Fassbender) and there you go Honestly I would love a for your eyes only opening with Bond visiting Swann's grave showing that she died and bond took revenge but we didn't see that at all. and we move on to a film independent fo everything else except for that nod. This is the only way to please everyone I fear. sure those who hate Swann will grumble but really for a 3 minute scene at the begining if the rest of the 2 hours and 15 minutes are fantastic i hardly think anyone will be that upset.

    You stand corrected there, mate.

    Indeed.

Guy Ritchie should only be after about 5 other people have turned it down.

@TheWizardOfIce, I wasn't commenting on the choice of Ritchie, but more the horrid idea for the next film that was supplied.

ColonelSun, its true Brosnan was cast, even did all the publicity photos in the tux etc. None of them, least of all Brosnan was expecting MTM productions to renew Brosnans contract for Remington Steele at the 11th hour! When they did, Broccoli and Co had no choice but to drop Brosnan, as they weren't going to have a TV series riding on their publicity!
Dalton was offered it first, but other commitments prevented him from signing, when Brosnan was dropped, Daltons scheduling had changed and he was available!

Yes, this is what I got from the Inside The Living Daylights documentary.

Yep, that could well have been the case, it's just I never heard Dalton mentioned and there was a lot of talk at Pinewood Studios as TLD went into production and the only name which kept being repeated was Brosnan, Brosnan, Brosnan.

Personally I'm very pleased Dalton got the gig, I much prefer his Bond to Brosnan's.

Yeah probably because Brosnan was signed on to play Bond as it went into production. It was ironically the attention he was getting that made MTM activate the clause in his contract - the interest in Brosnan playing Bond got people watching Remington Steele.

Ask Graham Rye, he knows everything.
  • Precisely. And Cubby insisted that he doesn't want to associate Bond with a then-currently running television series.

    Cubby is dead.

Just watched Mad Max Fury Road again and I have to say if Craig drops out and Babs want another man's man for Bond, well then Tom Hardy would be my pick. He could carry the legacy of Craig's manlier interpretation of the character.

    Ton Hardy for Bond.

Have you noticed the trend in cinema for less words? Mad Max has very few words in it, and the new Bourne movie has even less I think. Also, both these movies are around the 2 hour mark, whereas most modern blockbusters are around 2hrs 20 min. Perhaps movies will start to get shorter again soon.

At least Hardy would bring back real acting talent to the franchise, something that hasn't been seen since Connery, except for Dalton.

We used up all the words here. Words are now like brain cells they don't regenerate.

Have not seen the new Bourne, but yes, I did see. Max had maybe less than fifty words spoken in the film. It was more of a Furiosa film, even though she, also, did not speak that much. Great car porno, none the less.

Mad Max was like too many road trips for me. We drive a little bit looking for something then realize it's back in the town we just left.

Hate to say it, but I predict a cancellation by fall's end.

Why would you say such a mean and likely true thing..

Sadly much like many of my other shows I loved this will probably last 1 maybe 2 seasons if I am lucky. of course you never know i though Arrow would be a 1 seasoner and here we are at the start of season 5.

if anyone would like to see a list of shows I loved that got canceled super fast let me know...

@Risico007 if only you loved Grey's Anatomy so it would have been cancelled after 2 seasons instead of being at season 13 now.

MacGyver is un-remakable. It'll be gone within 5 episodes.

are you talking about the character or the reboot because i disagree on both counts but that is why we all have opinions...

Also no Aidan Turner can not play Macgyver!

But that was the next thing I would wanted to say....

MacGyver is too iconic and too much of a cult show to be re-made. NOBDODY EVER will be able to replace Richard Dean Anderson.

It's as stupid an idea as the ridiculous remakes of Charlie's Angels and Kojak some years ago.
