I'm quite worried that you're too taken by this "Turner is Bond" mentality you've cultivated, @Mendes4Lyfe. When the inevitable time comes where a new Bond is cast and it's not Turner, this false reality you've crafted for yourself with shoddy foundations is going to come crashing down, and it'd be best to exit the building before the big topple. There's nothing but disappointment down this road, sad to say. You really don't do yourself any favors by sounding so illogical in so many of your posts here.

Just being honest here, not trying to ride you too hard on this.

Put on a Turner mask and he'd let you ride him as hard as you liked.

And as we all know, film producers never lie. Especially if they're pretty.

So you'd believe Turner simply because you want him to play Bond? I have no issue with your passion for him, but where's the logic in that? You don't believe someone that has worked on the last several Bond movies, but you would believe Turner just because you like him?

I like Brosnan, but if he told me the world was going to end tomorrow, I wouldn't start building a fallout shelter.

I wouldn't believe him, I would trust him. totally different.

Sorry, but what's the difference? You would trust his word, but you wouldn't believe that he's correct? Do those not go hand-in-hand?

    Consider the follow:

    "Do you trust me?"

    "Do you believe me?"

See the subtle distinction in meaning?

If you trust him not to be telling you porkies it follows that therefore you believe him.

But honestly I don't why we even continue to induldge you any more rather than just ignoring you.

How about you just set up your own Turner shrine in another thread so the rest of us are spared your teenage girl crush?

Yes, but English is full of subtleties. Let's put it this way; you should never believe a Priest, and if you're under 16 you should never trust one either.

(Sorry, a little dark humour there.)

@Mendes4Lyfe you're obviously under 16, so if a Priest told you Turner is going to be the next Bond, you sure you wouldn't trust him?

Ouch. I knew my word choice there was going to come back to bite me, but well played, Wiz, as always.

Put a Turner mask on a priest and you'd have the very same outcome.

If you're going to put irresistible crosses like that into the 6 yard box I'd have to be Emile Heskey not to tap them home.

At least the news that caused a little ripple of excitement came from an actual insider, a man who's been producing the Bond films since TLD.

    The ball's in Dan's corner.

I'm one of the people who sincerely hopes he returns since the rumoured "next 007"'s have been yawn-fests at the most. I noted that the pics of DC from the set of LUCKY LOGAN exuded way more charisma than anything I had seen from the "hopefuls".

Turner, Hiddles, et al, they just don't hold a candle.

    Purity spoiler:
Not truly news but I just finished reading Purity, and Craig's role (if it's faithful to the book) is decidedly secondary and not in a lot of the story.

@echo - they will market it around him, so I believe, they will dress it up a bit.

A bloke who's been working for EON since TLD? Come on how can he know what he's talking about?

You really should apply @Mendes' law of 'being too close to the source' before you take McDougall's unfounded speculation seriously.

Ah, man, we're really struggling here. Oct. 7th will be here soon but it might be disappointing for many. I don't think Craig will be definitive about his return yet. It's been a year, though, since SP so maybe I'm wrong. Hope so, anyway.

The trick is, in order to avoid disappointment, never to put your expectations high, if at all.

I hope some of you guys don't end up harming yourselves if insufficient talk or a complete absence of significant Bond 25 news occurs during this segment. I'm honestly expecting nothing and if we do get something it's going to be what we already know. Mcdougal expressing Craig as still being their first choice is laughable seeing as it's being touted as news. It's by far and away one of the best examples of saying something without saying anything.

The term 'first choice' doesn't even apply to Craig. Once he confirms he wants to return, he is the 'only choice'. Craig won't even have time to catch his breath before EON are at his doorstep to sign the contract. That term means that EON would have 2nd/3rd/4th/whatever options, which is total garbage. EON aren't going to go 'Ok, cool, you want to return, but we are considering other actors, so we'll let you know if we do Bond 25 with you'.

Here's an interesting article about the current state of Bond, one year post SP.

    http://www.denofgeek.com/uk/movies/james-bond/44049/spectre-one-year-on-wheres-it-left-the-james-bond-series

This is an exceptional article. It's clear they've done their research.

I try and temper expectations, but I can't but help wonder: a week before International Bond day, and a little more until DC does a sit-down interview, executive producer for EON, McDougall, goes on radio... This is supposed to be what? A coincidence?

Obviously McDougall's been in the industry for quite a while, but his most famous projects are, of course, working on the Bond films from TLD straight through to SP.

Not that we will ever find out the answer, but I find it hard to believe that the timing of this radio interview was mere coincidence; that this instead was a NOT thinly veiled shout-out for DC to make a decision. I'm sure behind the scenes, they've proposed an offer and are awaiting his people to come back to them.

In the end, if a producer from EON goes on radio, s/he will know that they will be asked about Bond. So why go on radio now? I find the timing of an official, behind-the-scenes executive from EoN, going to a BBC 4 interview highly suspicious.
I highly doubt, it has anything to do with that. They have his number and he ain't playing games. They don't NEED to do this in order to get an answer.

But I suppose, there is a plan behind it after all - just one to drum it up a bit. Bringing attention t it etc.

The radio interview with McDougall was about Pinewood Studios because it is celebrating its 80th anniversary. Of course he was going to be questioned about Bond, but that was not the primary reason for that interview

You're right. All this subterfuge when theyve already signed Turner on a 5 picture deal.

How "we" will all look like imbeciles once Aidan Turner has been announced as the new Bond...

I remember many labeling Clive Owen as the new Bond long before Craig as cast and looking like imbeciles afterwards. One would've thought Clive had the role in the bag.

There's nothing to suggest Aidan Turner will be the next Bond anymore than Barry Chuckle will. If there were overwhelming evidence and people chose to ignore it, perhaps they may look like imbeciles. As it is, unless we're all supposed to have developed a spiritual pescience, I don't think anyone will look foolish.
