Dont worry, phibes72, some of us agree with you that Sp was a fantastic Bond film. 'Terrific car chase' was probably an overstatement, 'Terrific half a car chase' i would have been ok with, as its the second half of the sequence that it comes alive! Mendes made a serious mistake interrupting it with the call to Moneypenny! But it better than some other car chases, just not a classic!
I'm with you on hoping Craig announces he will return, but I have a sneaky feeling that we're not going to hear anything earth shattering!
(Oh, and you have great taste with at least two of your favourite Bond movies!)

Different strokes for different folks. I, myself , find Spectre Craig's 2nd best after Casino Royale. Maybe it'll grow on some people like QoS did.

I am going to say something controversial.. I don't think EON are waiting for MGM. true they can't film till MGM and the distributer write out the check BUT they can discretly hire the Director the Writers etc and work on the film in secret much like they did with Skyfall...

My Guess if we view 09-11 in the same context as now we can make safe bets on who will be directing and writing the film now mind you I am not saying this is who I want just who I think will be doing it and I could be dead wrong

Director Guy Richie: hear me out yes his non Sherlock films failed at the box office but Uwe Boll could direct a bond film and it still will make a profit. So I am not worried about it being a box office bomb and Richie while having a unique style is much more action orientated then Mendes or Forester and I feel (and I believe EON do as well) it's time to get back to basics with 007 and give a more focused and action based Bond film. is Richie my top choice no but I can't say I would be upset with him and with his name constantly being rumored I would be more shocked if it wasn't him then if it was. Of course EON has no studio to distribute so even if Richie agrees to direct Bond 25 and is having meetings with the producers and writers to develop the film (which I belie Wilson's supposed trip to LA was really about) they can't announce anything until the money is there from a distirubuter.

as for writers there have been three competing rumors

the no surpises rumors which I take it to mean Neal Purvis Robert Wade and Jez Butterworth

The Mad Man rumor which has Matthew Webber writing the script

and the Steve Knight rumor of the three I think it will be a mix. Personally I think a script has been written and it will likely be Purvis Wade and ______ (inser Knight Butterworth or Webber here) OR Butterwoth and _______ (insert Webber or knight here)
either way I am not expecting anything other then a good but not great bond film which after the disappointment of Spectre I wouldn't mind an action packed revenge bond film.. sure I am probably the only person who would be happy but again the Genie is out of the bottle folks Bond quit the 00 branch to travel the world with Madeline Swann you know it I know it and Johnny Public knows it.

I don't think that's controversial. I think it's self-evident that they'll be planning ahead - insane not too, if they don't it'll push it even further back given the distributor issue.

Ever... no thanks. This ad is embarrassing. Is PB that desperate for the money? He's in need of a hit film either critical or commercial. Would rather have Tim Dalton back if we're going down the retro road.

The SP car chase would have been good if there was more specter agents chasing him and some gunfire/explosions involved..

I don't understand why Hinx was the only one after him. That's all of Spectre you would have thought they would have helicopters, motorcycles and other cars after him. James Bond who has ruined spectres plans for the past 10 years and you just send one guy after him... It could've been great...

Only cool thing was hearing the cars engine roars in theaters and music.

This is what he looks like in The Son:

I guess the beard grows throughout the show cos it looks a bit bushier in the advert!

(this is getting weird - I'll try to get back on-topic!)

Outside of this forum I have only met love and admiration towards Spectre. As I said before it's mainly the members that loved SF and expected EoN making Skyfall Part II who are now disappointed or bashing Spectre.

SF was a one-off experiment, it worked at the BO. But Bond is something different overall, and Spectre has given back the audience what they expected of a typical Bond film.

It succeeded. Live with it, and expect Bond 25 to be something similar. Accept that something like Skyfall will never be made again, well, maybe for the 100th Anniversary.

That's because they all knew Rome is completely empty at night. You know, on account of the citywide curfew? Apart from a rebellious old man or two, there was no crowd for Bond to hide in. SPECTRE did well to establish their place of meeting there. Not many major cities just empty their streets like that.

I really like Spectre too. Whilst the UK press was positively gushing towards it, North American press was a bit so-so, to outright rubbishing the film, for eg below

Concerning the much criticised car chase.

If they had made yet another common car chase with gun fire, possibly explosions or collateral damage to other cars, the same people that are now bashing the car chase would have had a field day in nitpicking over it as well.

The car chase is fine, it is funny, it was never meant to be something overly gripping or exciting. Why can't people accept that and stop moaning like a little child that got strawberry flavour instead of vanilla.

I like the car chase I must say...the way that nothing works, the persecuted Italian in his Fiat or whatever car it was,the banter with MP,the rear flames, the ejection..oh and Bond ruining yet another car to p**s Q off.."I could kill you right now"..

Brilliant stuff...it's a 'turn off your brain and grab the popcorn' film...something different once again to CR,QOS and SF.

It felt... like the old film carchase. Not wuite Moore caliber, yet there was something... traditional humor. And I still say this ; Spectre was not a Moore-Brosnan film. It was very much a Craig vehicle, but they added some old fashioned humor. I thought Craig played it well. I knew his movies could have some humour. Look, the character is the same, he's just grown older, and should I say more relaxed since cr. Did'nt feel like thet were shoehorning Moore-type of elements into the film. I do know thet did this. But, to me, all those scenes did nor feel forced. Like the carchace with the slow moving vehicle being forced to go faster.

Don't agree about it being a movie to shut your brain off during (as it features a lot of character work and interplay throughout), but I don't have issues with the chase either, never have, really.

It wasn't meant to be a chase like the QoS opener, so you can't judge it by the same rules, just like you can't rate a comedy like you would a drama. The sequence was about seeing the visual of two sports cars racing against the backdrop of the operatically massive architecture of Rome, mixing up the Bond formula with none of the "gadgets" being equipped or ready to use, and some fun in between until the final spurt of action with the wall ride and Bond hosing Hinx in flames before giving himself a launch out of there.

    RIP Aston Martin DB10.

I liked SF but no I wouldn't want that all the time. My complaints against SP really isn't because I wanted SF 2.

IMO Mendes made the film he wanted to make with SF. I don't think he hit his mark with SP.

I was ready for a traditional Bond with all the trappings and SP attempted that.

We don't agree on these two films but it's all good.

This isn't a comedy club, 007. I expect you to return to serious car chases.

Just kidding, I thought it was great, loved the humour.
