@fabboy, Rog always held out for a better contract for each of his last four films.

Daniel Craig seems a bit of a contrary bloke. Who knows, perhaps one week he thinks "I'll do one more film" and the next week he may think "another Bond film, **** that!"

Perhaps that's the problem? He is up and down. Roger Moore always wanted to do more Bonds, same with Pierce Brosnan. Another issue may be the top brass at MGM may be fed up with Craig's indecision. They may reach a point when they don't want him back due to his prevarication! Put it like this - would you want an actor that can't decide if he wants to come back vs a new actor ultra-keen to play the part? Craig just going through the acting motions "just for the money" in Bond 25 may not desirable.

You could also say 'An actor who is undecided vs. An actor who will for the right $$$'. The former suggests they'll do it if it's worth their time, creatively - that's where DC slots in. You're making the assumption he's the latter.

Well, that 'article' on the Mirror is obviously a load of rubbish. No point in debating on it IMHO.

The fact that we don't know doesn't mean that they don't know. Babs and Daniel obviously have a good relationship inside and outside of work. They're obviously in contact. There's no way they haven't discussed it. And since Bond is her main project, I'm certain Babs has Daniel's answer.

I think Dan's coming off as much more indecisive than he is, just because we don't know his decision. Sure, when SP was released he probably had no idea whether he'd return or not. But I'm confident that by now he's made up his mind.

And based on his good relationship with Babs, I'd say he'll do Bond 25.

Now assuming Craig will return, I think a late 2018 release is still possible. If Barber's statement that B25 is "in development" means that Babs and MGW already have someone writing a story/treatment/script, it could be finished by September. If they start shooting in November or even December, the film will be out in October/November 2018.

I have a feeling we'll get some sort of announcement during the first half of 2017. If not, then I think we'll be in for a hiatus and a new Bond.

I'm not sure if this is really going to play into it too much. Craig is a professional. If he has other, more interesting options & offers on the table, he will take them and dump Bond.

If he doesn't have such opportunities, then he'll probably be back. I believed him when he said he'd be back only for the money if he returns. I think he's done what he can with this character from an actor's perspective and he knows it. From now on it's just going through the motions for us fans.

All I can say is that millions of Americans thought Bernie Sanders was fit enough to be President for the next 4 years at the age of 75. I think Campbell could easily spend 6 months to a year making a Bond film at 75.

Youth is no guarantee of innovation, as they say.

And was so close too... luckily the Russians intervened.

@bondjames, I don't think DC's done all there is in the role. It all depends on what's in the next script. As we've seen, DC has played the role in four, unique ways. Granted, if "25" is another re-hash of SP, will DC be interested in doing another? I think the odds will surely go down.

However, if there's something fresh in the script that challenges him, the odds will very much increase. I feel that Babs doesn't want him to go, and probably is promising him something special so she doesn't lose him.

When DC talked about money before, it was facetious. He has also said this role has given him financial freedom, that he doesn't have to worry about himself or his loved ones.

I doubt very much DC would come back and do same-old-same-old just for a pay check.

When they do recast, I hope they take the opportunity to make something closer to a thriller. 245 million is way too much to spend on a Bond film IMO. They could make a great film for 150 million if only they took out some of the action and made the film shorter. I know people say that modern audiences don't have the attention to sit through something without wall to wall explosions in it, but if they really wanted to take things in another direction, a proper spy film with intrigue and mystery would do wonders IMO. With both SF and SP making so much, I feel like now is the time to take some risks, and shaking things up.

Articles like that are just BAD, because even people - in the know (more then the average folks) - like Bond fans in a forum actually discuss this crap, even though its obvious, NOTHING at all is known by them. Its just recycled bs. Makes me sad, people fall into the trap of saying - I am tired of DC's unwillingness to decide. Makes him look like a jerk again, even though he is nothing further then that. He f***ing PROOVED over and over again, how much he is willing to give to the franchise. Do you really believe, he is playing the hard to get game? Its ridiculous. Whatever is holding the production, its not DC.

As I keep saying. It's MGM that's being the fly in the ointment. monkey and the wrench, pain in the ass. It's them who needs to chop chop and find a distributor so the wheels can get turning again.

it's the Mirror, guys. Not Deadline, nor the Hollywood Reporter, or Variety.

And, it's pretty hard to "go off the grid" when the stage production he's working on IS WITH BABS.

They both know he's coming back. He's worth wayyyyyy too much to the franchise, his relationship with Babs has value, and, quite frankly, there is no one, and I mean no one, waiting in the wings to be the next 007.

I don't agree with your final comment. If Craig doesn't come back someone will replace Daniel Craig. That someone may be a terrible choice or adequate or good - but someone WILL replace Craig. No James Bond actor is irreplaceable.

If EON and MGM are set on a winter 2018 release date I reckon Daniel Craig has to reveal his hand by spring 2017. If he's out he has to say so in spring to allow six months for a proper search, extensive screentests, and new actor revealed by autumn.... so I think we will hear something definite by spring assuming Bond 25 is winter 2018. Also, as mentioned in those items - the new distributor needs to be found so Craig can't delay his decision too long. Sony or whoever is the new distributor will put pressure on EON to get Craig to make up his mind.
I have a feeling we're being fed a whole different line that what is actually the case.

But, remember before they had over 30 minutes of poker tables in Casino Royale. So I don't think they can use that excuse for having to give wall to wall action.

There are legitimate entertainment news organizations whose mission is to announce breaking news and to keep their readership up to date on all things entertainment, like Variety, Deadline, Hollywood Reporter-- and none of them, none, are reporting what the Mirror is reporting.

The Mirror is a rag. They re-cycle old stories, mixed in with anonymous "leads". If Babs, or anyone at EON wanted to "leak" a story, they would contact one of the papers above, not the Mirror.

DC is working with Babs on Othello. I'm wagering it's not a matter of "if" DC will return, but a matter of "when". And if it is only one more, it will be announced, a la Hugh Jackman as Wolverine (generating buzz even before filming starts).
I would normally agree with what you just said, but remember Baz bamigboye of the daily mail leaked location and actor choices months ahead of time for bond 24.

Bamigboye has been quiet on Bond as of late. He also revealed the death of Judi's M, if I'm not mistaken.

I remember correctly that it was because he made a link that Christoph Waltz would be the head of SPECTRE.

Bamigboye reported Waltz' casting and that he had a "significant role". It was a seperate columnist that leaked the Franz Oberhauser/Blofeld connection a day before the announcenent.

In 2008 you already can know that. With my first view in cinema after tricker sound over Dench name i know she going to die. Then you have bullet who almoost kild her, the empy chair (also sign of Mr White death) and I Never left. Then hints in Skyfall who also started in maintitle with Dench name over graveyard.

Sadley enough before Skyfall was released it was spoiled she died in movie.

I am not and not going to re-watched the maintitle of Spectre til the moment i wil see the movie for a second view.

In a desperate attempt to find some news, I managed to stumble upon the production page for 'B25 Ltd' (the EON subsidiary under which each film is produced).

    https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/09577149

I couldn't find anything of interest, though I did discover that EON has another two films on their slate listed on IMDB Pro, in addition to Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool (2017). These include No Place to Hide (2017) and Remote Control. Both are cited as "in development".
