Rapace is brilliant as Lisbeth but the chemistry with her Blomvist is almost non existent.
Mara was more like the Salander in the book and Craig really captured the ego battered unsure of himself Blomvist.
Maybe they should have got Dalton to play and you would have been happier.
Are there really people who believe (d) Craig is a BO draw?? He never has been and won't ever be. Like you said, Craig is and will remain a character actor outside of Bond and honestly, that's the way Craig wants it.
On a side note that's perhaps only peripherally related, I'd like to go back to the days when Bond was a scrappy underdog in the fight, who got beaten up as much as he beat back and often had to use his wits to survive/escape from his more physically challenging opponents. Craig has been great for all sorts of reasons, but Bond of all characters doesn't need to be beefy.
I respect DC not wanting to appear in big office behemoths outside of Bond.
When he finishes I look forward to some great varied output, I'd hope he won't be playing some unrealisticly aged deadly assasin alongside a actress old enough to be his daughter.
Can't think of who I might be referring to there.
Connery played a master thief in Entrapment, not an assassin, and Zeta-Jones was closer to his granddaughter than his daughter, but I get your gist.
Craig has made a go at leading man blockbusters in between his Bonds (Cowboys & Aliens, The Invasion), but I suspect as with Brosnan he will pursue more colorful, against-type, performance-focused roles in the wake of Bondom (with the occasional fun paycheck opposite a Salma Hayek or whoever).
M's children could even be involved;
"I wrote forward on your pain!"
That's not really an indication, considering the first one came out five years ago, and was likely to never get a sequel with the same cast/crew. If anything, Mara was the only one with a possibility of returning.
Jk
Thank you, I will cherish it until I have to give it back.
I'm not a big fan of Fiennes either, but he won't be a villain. It was in the original script that he was to be the mole, and he apparently refused to do it, so they ended up creating the useless 'C'.
Yeah, we might actually be best off if they keep casting actors with brains and dignity who refuse to play out their most bogus ideas.
Yes I think you're right. Hardly any one apart from @germanlady just goes to see a film because 'Daniel Craig' is in it, but in his day Brosnan definitely had that draw.
I don't think I mentioned anything about a cheap vibe.
It's been a while since I watched it but my overwhelming response was disappointment as I'd had really high hopes for it.
It seemed to make almost zero impact at the time. I don't know anyone who refers to it or even thinks of it as a particularly good film. As I said, it's not awful, just one of those examples where on paper it looks great and then the reality is a lot less than you're expecting. The stars don't align - it just falls a bit flat. It happens.
I have to say that this is a little bit of a pattern with Craig's non Bond work - IMO of course.
That was a good article, its encouraging to see Craig openly talking about Bond again in a fresh enthusiastic way.
A good sign IMO.
I share Craig's fascination with watches, and agree that lightness & thinness are great features in a watch. I also love blue faces on them!
