Not that he's done anything like it before, just doesn't seem too far out of Nolan's style.
By your user status, maybe you take issue with my thought that Hardy would be a good Blofeld similar to Savalas? Or the just the whole post in general ;P
Happy 1,000 posts to me!
Nolan, Hardy (as Bond or Blofeld), and Hathaway. All bad.
P.S. Congrats on 1,000 posts!
Yep, IMDB is so inaccurate, as we know all too well.
Exactly, Eon don't do co-productions with other producers (except on TB when they had to compromise to bring the film into their series). Bond is Eon's show. Big name director's like Sam Mendes don't even get the "A Film by…." credit like they would get on any other film they directed.
Why not? Got the charisma, physical presence, and a great actor so could adopt the necessary persona. Any moped-stealing Bond-baddie had better watch out
Honestly I agree 100%. Hardy's one of my favourite actors but I can't see him as Bond. I'd be open minded about it though.
He just doesn't have that thing about him. I've had this debate elsewhere recently, and the way I could explain it in my head is that all the Bonds we have look like they'd give a straight and fair fight, whereas Hardy seems like he'd go right for the bullocks. Our 6 Bonds feel like they'd play games for sport at nice casinos or game halls in fine suits, whereas Hardy looks like he'd frequent a dilapidated bar with a pool table in a rough part of London where he'd smashed glasses and stick anyone who bad mouthed him, all while wearing baddy jeans and a torn up jacket.
He lacks that eloquence and sense of style that all the Bond actors have, with only Tim being an obvious weak link. Sean was the style icon, George had a playboy sense, Roger looked like a government aristocrat, Tim could rock the moody dark suits despite a lack of apparent style, Pierce looked born for suits in many capacities and Dan feels at home in anything they put him in, despite his thug reputation pre-Bond. When I see Hardy, I just don't find he'd pull any of that off. When I think of his wheelhouse, grungy roles come to mind where he's hairy, dirty, bloodied or feral. He's obviously a transformative actor, but I think he's far too rough to be smoothed out into a good Bond. Dan has the roughest looks of all the Bond actors, but he is able to command a certain posture of eloquence and style and his voice also signals a certain propriety and strong character. He makes it easy for you to take the leap and say, "Yes, this can be Bond." Hardy's Bond just seems like he'd be a potty mouth, with his rough accent always saying, "Piss off" or "Let's get knackered" while having a martini at a bar. To borrow a word from Anthony Horowitz, he's very street. More of a Liverpool hooligan than a Savile Row man of high character.
Nothing wrong with that, as I love him in all kinds of roles. I just don't think Bond is one of those particular parts for his abilities and overall look.
Scenario 1: Craig returns for one more Bond film, EON hires McGuigan or another journeyman to direct, Nolan directs a non-Bond film after Dunkirk. A few years later: Bond 26. Nolan. New actor.
Scenario 2: Craig decides to quit. Nolan directs Bond 25.
It does kinda fit together when you think of it like that. We'll have to wait and see, but EON may drop Craig if it means working with Nolan, I'd assume. In the absense of Craig, they need another big name and Nolan immediately excites and would create a big splash for EON. It would certainly help to have him on board for the post-Craig transition.
I think he's probably ready to kick back a little after INTERSTELLAR and DUNKIRK - He hasn't done anything more mainstream since Batman and Inception. With a penchant for Bond, it wouldn't surprise me if everything came together to make this happen. That being said, it's early days yet.
It's all...
For what's really going on.
The Nolan rumour is actually a very old one - and actually relates to the possibility of him directing Spectre when it looked like Mendes might not do it. He's yet to be rumoured to be directing Bond 25.
Yes, one of the scenario's will indeed happen. My guess and hope is: scenario 1. I think Nolan wants to be just like Campbell: Only directing a debut picture for a new Bond.
Nolan will never direct a Bond film.
What makes you think so?
There isn't any other way to interpret that. Bond 25 is now under SYNCOPY and although it isn't official (no statements from EON/MGM), we're going to half to believe it for now. The people working on IMDbPro wouldn't mess around like this, so they must truly believe - or know - that SYNCOPY will help produce B25.
Just remember that even if it is a fact, EON could end the contract in the near future (if there are major issues etc), and choose another production company instead. So once again: nothing is official but do have evidence to back up the rumours.

You sure? They don't seem so certain on this page. Four, repeat four question marks.
That's the year it will come out, @tanaka123. Nobody knows that of course.
