Are we really going to make such comments again? We spent the last 10 years laughing at everyone who said the franchise had been killed with the casting of Daniel Craig as James Bond back in 2005. Are we going to make the same type of comments the DCINB crowd said prior to CR's release? 'Oh no, they chose McGuigan as director, the franchise is over for me!'

Nope. I'm on board the "Anyone But Mendes" express, so you won't hear any complaints out of me.

What if he does and it's a good Bond film? Martin Campbell's CV outside of Edge of Darkness (the TV series), GE and CR isn't all that impressive to be honest. But he did a fine job with Bond.

    1. The series is at a very different place right now compared to a decade ago. Sure, Spectre was a misfire, but Skyfall elevated the franchise in every possible way. 2. I am sure McGuigan is capable of making a decent Bond flick. I am also sure he will never make a movie as great as Nolan's Inception or Villeneuve's Sicario.

Villeneuve would be my choice by the way.

@PanchitoPistoles Please make a bet again, I want to see how it turns out this time. :D

Here's a bet: Tom Hardy will NEVER play James Bond. If it ever turns out I am wrong about this one, feel free to call me a fool.

Actually it's a pretty safe bet to bet to say that any given actor will NEVER play James Bond and that includes Fassbender, Hiddleston, Turner etc.

After he lost the last bet he won't be making any serious bets any time soon.

I'm personally happy the bet went tits up. To this day I can't understand a line of that "song."

Yeah and the choice they went with was so much better, Sam Smith what a pile of bollocks.

EON didn't deserve the genius that is Radiohead, no it wasn't anywhere their best but if they' been told to provide a balls out theme instead of the ballad type they would have knocked it out the park.

I preferred the Radiohead song personally, but they were both a serious load of bollocks as far as I am concerned.

I hope we get something far better next time out, and a score which incorporates the title track melody more often. It's ridiculous that this particular creative aspect, which Bond films did so well in the past, appears to have been long forgotten.

I can appreciate that there is a compressed time to get everything ready post production on these films, and that the composer doesn't write the title track anymore, but it's still something worth preserving. One of those traditions that shouldn't be lost (any further) like the GB.

I think the last official news we had was when they said that Bond 25 was "in development". That could mean that Craig returns in 2018 for a YOLT inspired finale film, or it could mean they take a step back and return with a new actor in 2019 or beyond - we need patience to find the answer.

I thought TWOTW was used well enough. I don't think it needed to be used to Barry levels, but I thought it was cool how it was introduced as Bond flew over Mexico City before we knew the titles were coming and that the actual song was starting, and its use when Madeleine and Bond sharing scenes is also great and plants the seed of the song itself that pays off in the end.

The instrumental part of the song and how it builds to meet Sam's voice is actually my favorite thing about it. It could be my favorite part of the whole score. It wins further points for actually having something to do with the film, telling us Sam cared to read the script. The previous hit song didn't do that, nor do enough Bond songs.

lol, Smith's vocal is the worst aspect of the song for me, specifically the falsetto; musically it's not bad but lyrically paints the picture of a weak, emotionally crippled Bond; while he may be detached, he's not weak. Smith's vocals are whiney and rather than impassioned, come off as needy and pleading. With a more commanding vocal this could have been a great song

Or sung by a woman from a woman's perspective. There are some impressive female covers on youtube. It's not a bad song as it's written...just the actual production of it.

I still don't mind WOTW. It's not great, but it's not the worst in the series, either. As I've said before, avoiding it like the plague and hearing it attached to the film for the first time probably helped a lot.

Indeed. Nothing spoiled my anticipation for the film more than this debilitated song (lyrics & delivery). I honestly thought this was an outtake for TWINE rather than Craig's Bond. Quite the opposite of what we got as a song for CR, which confidently announced a new, young & virile Bond.

Didn't Smith say he wrote the song in 20 minutes or something like that? I'd believe it. Definitely doesn't inspire much confidence before hearing it, that's for sure.

And again, we've ventured into off-topic discussion. Let's move this back towards B25.

Over 750 pages in, I don't think this is staying on-topic unless we lock it. Like I mentioned the other day, we can delete any/all off-topic posts, or we can allow things to run off the rails every so often when there's nothing else to discuss.

Or, people can post off-topic discussion in the designated threads.

Locking it won't do anything. We've tried that and, being a Bond forum, you can't not have a place to discuss the next Bond film.

Off-topic chatter doesn't bother me as much as it does others (although I can live certainly without it), but the one thing I don't like is when the same people who contribute to it complain about the fact that this thread has over 750 pages. To quote Peter Griffin, it really grinds my gears. You can't please everyone after all.

Well as I said, now we know not to open one of these for a long time come the next film.

To be fair, we ALL participate in the off-topicness of this thread, and I don't know how many times I've posted about avoiding spam, just to be completely ignored and have it continue. Kind of hard to keep that up when nobody listens.

So, you've heard it here, folks: if it's not on-topic, don't bother posting it. If you feel the conversation is running off the rails, continue it in the appropriate thread. If not, spam/off-topic comments will be removed.

I hope my post didn't seem as if I was taking a jab at you, because that's not what I intended.

But don't waste your breath repeating yourself, @Creasy47. There's only so many times you and I can reiterate the same message over and over again.

We have a thread on a subject for which there is nothing solid to talk about. Nearly everything here is gossip. So inevitably it will go off track from time to time. How can it not?

    Production has not started yet.

I'm just pretty sick of the back-and-forth regarding it; it's so tiring. If things run off topic, then those posts responsible will be removed. Simple. The easiest method would be for us to not post about stuff unrelated to the future of Bond, but since that's impossible for a good majority of us, and since locking a thread like this wouldn't be plausible for a Bond forum, that's how we'll go about it, I suppose. Much easier and more straight-forward than redirecting people back to the topic at hand several times a page, for hundreds and hundreds of pages.

It's one of the most fun threads in this place so I don't have a problem with it.

I agree that the complaining gets tiresome. What can be expected, as I said, given where we're at and what we know. Which is pretty much f*** all.

I hope everyone is happy when Justin Bieber's Bond song, entitled #Spy Swag, comes out. A tease of the lyrics have been released, and are included below:

Yo, yo, yo I'm James Bond bitch, double-o
Dope spy makin' all the hoes go oh, oh, oh.
Bond...James Bond the only man that'll make you fond,
This prick of mine's a magic wand,
Step back, step back, step back.

    Secret spy, international killer,
Girls worldwide know me as the bedtime thriller.
    Tokyo, Moscow, Paris, Bengal,
Miss Moneypenny better believe I've hit 'em all.
Q's got great gadgets but this spy has his master tool,
Whippin' it out makes me the exception to any rule.
M's my boss and the way he talks back to me is shady,
The only time I'm not on top is when I'm with a lady.

(Double-0-Seven, take you to heaven, Double-0-Seven, never relentin')

    Undercover lover, man of mystery,
Got a villain baby, I'll make him history.
Startin' from an orphan you ain't seen me morphin'
From nothin' into the greatest ladykiller of 'em all.
I kill all evil, from the rich to the poor,
If life was a sport you know your boy would score.
Loaded Walther in hand, I ain't no killer for hire,
In between your legs is where I'd concentrate my fire.

    Super agent, sex master,
Got a problem with my sins, go talk with yo pastor.
    It's Queen first, country second,
My commitment to duty don't need to be reckon'd.
I play cards, shoot yards to hit my target,
Please tell me those nice drapes are matched by yo carpet.

(Double-0-Seven, take you to heaven, Double-0-Seven, never relentin')

Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, man of action,
Throw a punch at me, check my reaction
    An MI6 six-pack is what I got,
The bullets bouncin' off these abs are strikin' red hot.
My time is fleetin', death always knockin' at my door,
Until my last breath I keep you comin' back for more.

Icon of the screen, stakin' every claim,
I been offered a knighthood but this homie don't need the fame.
I used to be a playa before I changed the game,
I turned words into action, now you know my name.
James Bond, so fond you are of me,
I keep your boat stable on a rocky sea.
James Bond so fond I'll make you be,
Like a witness to the crime I'll make you see.
