I criticised Mendes a lot for SF.
After SP I know it wasn't his fault. Even the greatest director can't save a movie like SF with such a script.
I was wrong about Mendes and why not have him return to direct the first of a new Bond actor.
I think that would work marvelously.
Perhaps it is an all or nothing proposition with these two going forward, and that would be fitting, because outside of Kinnear, the entire crew is now a Mendes invention. So if Craig's back, it would make sense for Mendes to come back, rather than a new director.
They should keep Mendes indefinitely.
And why not.
Just imagine this:
Martin Campbell had directed GE, TND, TWINE and DAD before directing CR and then QOS as his last.
Pierce Brosnan would undoubtably rank No 2 after Connery together with Craig.
TND and TWINE would be in anybody's Top 10. Even DAD would probably be in the upper half of the rankings.
QOS would undoubtably be more popular than SF and SP together.
Oh sweet imagination ;;)
Casino Royale and Quantum were brilliant yet sadly I feel the last two films the Craig era lost it's way kind of My hope is with a new director if Craig returns Bond 25 will have him finding his way and having a high note film again.
Can't remember the exact reason as the emails were brief and not detailed about the issues, but she was clearly angry with both Logan and Mendes. I'd have to go back and do a search to isolate those emails on Wikileaks to get more detail, but there was a lot of Sony back and forth in the emails in the time segment I read that related to unhappiness with the script's third act. The reason for her anger, and I'm guessing here based on context, appears to be that she felt they were badly dragging their heals on getting the script fixed. The text in the emails did not imply she was slightly upset etc., the text noted clearly that she was angry. Pulling in P & W was obviously related to that. Another poster may be able to add to this.
The best thing for a fifth Bond movie with Craig would be down-to-earth, gritty action movie with hard and brutal fights (à la John Wick), but with all the beloved Bond traits, that QOS so lacked.
Maybe a mix between FYEO and QOS, directed and edited by capable artists.
If Mendes is back, you can imagine something not cryptic at all, like, well, "Where is my son ?" :)
:))
:)) =))
A female director would also bring out Bond's sex appeal, because she would be seeing it from a woman's point of view.
Makes sense to me.
i kind of agree with Naomi on this...
but i feel like that is the sign of the times - we live our daily lives at such break speed nowadays, that we really never take time to stop and smell the roses - we are always looking 10 steps ahead in a lot of cases, instead focusing (and enjoying) the hear and now.... undoubtedly it will happen to Bond #7 when he cast... the collective mass will more or less go "oh he's James Bond now?... ok... now lets talk about who will be Bond #8."
Episode 1 of The Night Manager I really enjoyed. Tom Hiddleston showed he could do sauve and smooth so I thought his Bond would be closer to Roger Moore, but last night Episode 2 kicked into another gear and showed Hiddleston could do dark and violent too. Very interesting. I could actually see the director of Night Manager, Suzanne Bier, and most of its wonderful cast migrating to Bond. Hugh Laurie and Tom Hollander would both be amazing Bond villains. I hope EON are watching this show.
cartoon drawing of how Fleming imagined Bond.
like I said when talking about a new bond I was a Hardy fan for years but I am slowly moving to Hiddleston side of things.
Here he is in a white jag ( Very The Saint ) :)
Uncanny. Just compared Hiddles to that sketch. He IS Bond.
But yeah, since I want Daniel to quit, why not?
You do? Or was that sarcasm?
Let's see what this month brings. I'm hoping for an announcement one way or another.
