Why are we even reacting to those pics and their comment? Come on...this guy just wants us to remember his hate.

I'd love Villeneuve, hopefully Babs is able to persuade him that the opportunity of making a Bond is one he wouldn't want to miss. But for a project as large as Dune, I reckon development would have already started so he'll be unavailable.

Haven't seen 71 so can't comment on Demange but he sounds like he ticks all the usual boxes.

Have to agree though with those posters saying what the series needs is a real shake up. The cinema-going public at large are not going to get excited about DC returning and will see Spectre part 2, if this is what we get, as more of the same. Nolan and Hardy would create a massive buzz that would get everyone talking about Bond again.

love DC, but have to concede that a Nolan / Hardy one-two punch would knock me the f**k out.

I have not heard/read anything final from EON or Craig that he's coming back so I'll wait for this before I forget about a potential reboot for Bond 25

This is the news I’ve been waiting for!

First thing, Deadline are a very legitimate source but Justin Kroll at Variety is a leading entertainment journalist. He’s the guy who chases the big leads and has close links with studios (I recommend watching his episodes of “Meet The Move Press” on YouTube). He’s the guy who broke the news of Ben Affleck stepping down as the Batman director and first to report Matt Reeves’ involvement. So that’s a little flavour of this guy’s credentials. Basically, if he’s saying it’s Warner and Yann – then it’s Warner and Yann.
    ___________________________________________________________________________________

Regarding the shortlist….Wow, but an exciting bunch. So glad that the producers are leaving the Paul-McGuigans-of-the-world out of the picture. Craig elevated the series beyond these type of suggestions in my opinion.

    1. On to the choices….I think Denis is an inspired choice and clearly the dream director to tackle this project. If they can make it happen – then great. He’s voiced his desire to do a Bond film in the past. Despite this, I don’t see it happening, mainly as he’s linked to a ton of stuff. But the thought of a Denis/Deakins/Craig film is very exciting.

    2. MacKenzie is my least favourite. I thought “Hell or High Water” was generic and flat - I struggle to understand the love. However, “Starred Up” is a brilliant piece of filmmaking (Jack O’Connell is great in it). So I wouldn’t turn my nose up to MacKenzie.

    3. But Yann is the most exciting choice there. I am half tempted to go through my posts from 2015 where I floating him in the first place – but I’ll resist the sensation to be overly smug. Yann is exactly the filmmaker that Bond needs after the stately approach adopted by Mendes.
    ______________________________________________________________________________________

He’s a homegrown British filmmaker with class, but more importantly he’s edgy. I live in East London and his TV series “Top Boy” is a bit of a cultural hallmark around these parts. I’ll confess to not having seen “71” yet (another Jack O’Connell film – are Eon earmarking him for Bond?), Yann is clearly craving a name for himself. He’s edgy and up-and-coming. I like this suggestion a lot. He’s cool, young, elegant and British. He makes perfect sense.

Also look how cool he looks – you know he’ll get his hands around every other of the production and the style of the film will be impeccable. Yann will make Bond look damn cool:

I’m very very glad to hear he’s the frontrunner

Just to set the record straight: Yann Demange is a French director. He may have spent nearly his entire life in the UK, but he still only holds a French citizenship, and in interviews he considers himself as French and not as British.

Wow, quantum Art, 2 post and already knowing enough to make such a comment? Remarkable. Getafix knows me a long time and can make such a statement. But you? Or are you someone we all know underva new name? Wouldn't happen for the first time. But no, I don't think it's too harsh.

Yann is English (born in France). Direct a tv series with Ben Wishaw. That 71 footage is to much of 'tv 'B'' movie. But possible a budget thing. Paul Haggis i was worried when he returns because of violence of Casino Royale. The Astin/Solange mistake i credit to P&W. Earlier i also expect more 24 violence of Crash, but turn out in bad tv movie. Stil not my thing and that 71 footage remember a bit to that.

    David MacKenzie is Scotish directer.

But whant i whant is get a way with the 24, TDK elements and no return of Sam Mendes and Thomas Newman. Be more proud/focus on the QOS left overs and good things that John Logan and Sam Mendes left behind. Denbergh was wasted, even more then Solange. I was positive suprised about somethings of Spectre, but it can be one view thing. The brother thing should be gone and link i think there mabey going to make too. The only thing that can save it is to bring back Dominic Green.

Directer who is closer to Marc Fosfer or Martin Campbell. I wil earlier ask Bryan Singer as directer with writer of Batman vs Superman then having Sam Mendes return.

If WB get the distribution rights, I can't help but see that as some kind of preparations for a handover of the franchise with Bond 26. Otherwise, why a one picture deal and the general lethargy when it comes to getting things going? I think Babs is not interested in another type of Bond other than Daniel's, yet she realises that that's what needs to happen if the franchise is to survive.

He is still French. ;) He never applied for the British citizenship. He worked in the UK film industry for his entire career so he is a British cinema talent, but he is still a French director.

Just realised if Demange gets the gig he'd be the first non white director to helm a Bond film.

Precisely. Two and Two are not adding up to Four at the moment for me. I look forward to official word first.

Yes, everything and everywhere I read, he is referred to as French.

Bring back this dude for B25. He's only 64 and looks better as Bond than DC.
And he works cheap compared with DC.
Looks are very much a subjective thing, but on that front yes, I agree that he looks better than DC. Looks were never Brosnan's problem imho. He is a very good looking man but there is no way he can be Bond at this point. His career isn't what it was for one and he's a bit old for it secondly.

Now some pictures of Daniel Craig in 2017. During the Drama Desk Awards, and some other instances:

I think this is a clear example of an actor who's already living like James Bond :-P. Love the pictures! Great swagger and style he has. Fashion-wise he just knows what to wear. True fashion icon for males! And he looks YOUNG!!

I really like how Craig has bucket loads of charisma/suaveness in these 'casual' pictures posted above. I'd like to see some photo-call with Craig and Brosnan side by side, the amount of magnetic presence in the pics would be off the charts.

Looks are very subjective. It's not worth focusing on it at this juncture. As long as the man can still do the job, that's all that matters. Just don't go breaking any knees and screwing up the film on account of it again.

I agree @bondjames, I was just pointing out that Craig 'in real life' and Craig Bond seem night and day sometimes. From those pics, anyone who aren't very familiar with Bond would think Craig's take on Bond would be similar to Moore in TSWLM. When you watch those trailers for Logan Lucky, I think Craig could have pulled off some OP/TSWLM style film with relative ease.

Those photos do him justice @DaltonCraig007. However, he doesn't always photograph that way. He is a strange cat that way. Sometimes he actually looks 'odd' and sometimes he looks super stylishly cool imho.

I've always said that they got the right balance of humour/style for his Bond in CR/SF. That's Craig at his best. I'm thinking the early casino scenes in the first film (even when Vesper walks in and when he goes up to her at the bar), the first Q meet at the museum or the psych evaluation. That's his take on classic Bond. Trying to shoehorn him into the traditional 'one liner' approach (including the office briefing) just reminded me that others before him have done it far better. They've got to put him in unique places to avoid reminding people of his predecessors imho, because he is a different animal to them. He is a reboot Bond in every way.
