Not once have I said SF's score is impossible to guess as part of the franchise. Maybe the problem is your English comprehension skills are having some black outs occurring tonight,
I wrote "I'm guessing". You know what the verb "to guess" means? It seems it's you who is having problems with English comprehension, son.

For the record: the QUANTUM OF SOLACE score does use the melody of "Another Way to Die". At the close of the pretitles car chase, for one. For another, when Bond approaches Mathis's Italian villa, the music segues seamlessly from "You Know My Name" to "Another Way to Die". They're both structured on the James Bond Theme, it allows for that.
Not frequently used, but there. Also, "Another Way to Die" uses an element of the "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" title theme. It's not so out of left field and non-Bond.
This is actually "No Good About Goodbye" that YKMN seamlessly changes into, if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, a conversation for a different thread. Is there one that exists for this topic? If not someone should create one.

If you are still trying to guess what I'm saying after I've written in about 2 or 3 other posts in the last page(s) that my opinion is the exact opposite of what your guesses are, than I'm sorry to be the one to break the news that you have pretty bad mental/intelligence issues.

And quite frankly, what you wrote in your previous posts is enough evidence that you haven't watched a single Bond film outside of the Craig era, if you are going to make a fool out of yourself by holding arguments that are not only idiotic, but blatantly untrue about this film franchise. If you think that Bond films to me are unrecognizable because they 'don't have the Bond theme at every action scenes' or 'gadgets every 5 minutes' which boggles the mind about what Bond films you've actually been watching all these years, because I've never seen a single one that fits that description. And I wouldn't want to get ahold of myself, but (at least) 99% of the members on these forums also have no idea what Bond films you are trying to describe there.

So, in simple words, I don't have anymore time to waste arguing with someone that 1. still is trying to guess my opinion after I've posted it multiple times in a short time-span, and 2. clearly has absolutely no idea what James Bond films are when you cannot even remotely accurately describe a Bond film that actually exist, meaning I've been talking for most of the evening with someone who most likely hasn't seen a single one of these films.

I use a lot of elements too. Water :-).

Although I do side with @DaltonCraig007 on the theme being present, it wouldn't be the first time it went missing. GE didn't call back to the theme at all, and I don't recall hearing any of TWINE or LTK in their soundtracks. QOS is also devoid of AWTD, though it has several hints of Shirley Bassey's No Good About Goodbye (I don't buy Arnold's statement that it was sheer coincidence).

TWINE theme was woven into Your Time is Up, Welcome to Baku, the Casino scene and a couple of more tracks (for example when M is taken to her tower prison). Also Elektra's theme is based around the unused song "Only myself to blame".

AWTD was woven into Time to get out, Pursuit at Porte Au Prince and Field Trips.

LTK and GE are the only movies whose songs (even secondary ones) are never heard during the movie (excluding the titles, obviously).

I think there's a remix of it during the Ice Palace party, right before the Icarus demonstration.

Oh yes... Yeah, you're right. The remix version definitely plays during the Ice Palace party.

It's definitely there in TWINE. A number of times during the boat chase and it pops up during the transition sequences.

Neat, I'll listen for that next time I watch it. Oh, and I don't think Madonna's theme is used in Arnold's score either. Or did it pop up during the ice palace bit? It's been awhile since I last watched Die Another Day

    It did.

    Exactly.

I also believe there could be some rights and royalty elements between various production studios when it comes to using the title track. I don't think YKMN is even on the CR soundtrack album for example.

I guess that's because spending money on a guiness world record explosion was more important.

A few points about the Bond title song discussion.

During Barry's time (and even some of Arnold's), the composer wrote the title track and cooperated with the artist. Somewhere around AVTAK/TLD Barry started complaining about the artists not cooperating and being divas. There were creative differences with both Duran Duran and A-ha. Some of this was also due to the changes in the industry I believe (with record companies/artists having influence etc.).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that these days the composer doesn't write the track. It's done independently. That can impact things.

I also believe there could be some rights and royalty elements between various production studios when it comes to using the title track. I don't think YKMN is even on the CR soundtrack album for example.

Additionally, there is the tight turnaround post-production. Barry could handle it as an experienced old-hand, but I can imagine someone who has other composing commitments could have more difficulty.

If we want to go back to the days of having the track seamlessly interwoven into the soundtrack then they should allow the composer to write and compose the track imho.

Goes back to A-ha, not AVTAK. Barry got on extremely well with Duran Duran and had no problems with their input. Let's not forget, unlike A-ha, the members of Duran Duran were extremely reverential of John Barry, especially Roger Taylor who was a big self-proclaimed fan. You only have to watch The Music of James Bond documentary to see that the feeling was mutual. It's when it gets to A-ha that Barry is full of scorn and barbed comments about his collaboration with the Norwegian popsters. It's plain to see he disliked them immensely.

Also, let's not forget that the FRWL song wasn't written by Barry either, but by Lionel Bart of Oliver fame, so his Bong song involvement is bookended by other writer's work. Barry's song dominance started with Goldfinger, but ended on a low with both MR and OP's All Time High flopping in the music charts, heralding the start of stand-a-lone artists writing and performing the songs, with the exception of a couple of David Arnold collaborations. It's just not possible to find a credible modern-day composer with the gift of being able to write both a hit song combined with a mesmerizing score-writing ability anymore. However, it should be a prerequisite that a chosen composer should be made to weave the title song into the score. Whilst SF and SP shared snippets of the title song, the overall score was lacking, and IMO bland as vanilla.

I've composed the score for Bond 25. Just play it on loop. It will fit like a glove.

I haven't seen anything in full of Yann Demange's movie work, chiefly due to there being very little to view. I had a gander at his '71 movie and he strikes me as a director that likes to use handheld cameras a lot, much like Peter Greengrass. To be honest, I'm not that sure if that excites me or not. I certainly don't want to feel Jason Bourne seasick watching Bond 25.

I'm with you on that @Murdock. I just had a look at some of his TV work, Top Boy and Dead Set; totally handheld Greengrass like, which is fine for the small screen but not something I want to see at the cinema, and not in a Bond movie.

I am always a bit saddened by Newman criticism, because I just don't get it. I was a Newman fan long before he even got this gig, and so I was excited. And his score for SF did not disappoint. SP was not as good, but there are still some beautiful moments in that score.

I mean, DAMN: this is good stuff:

Honestly @TripAces, there's no need to remind us of how disappointing Newman's scores have been. Though I did like his a Day of the Dead intro score for SP, the pumping horns very reminiscent of the master himself, John Barry Prendergast.

Those 4 tracks were good. It's his action music that stinks on ice.

And since Sherlock season 5 is probably never gonna happen, this would leave David Arnold's schedule open (fingers crossed).

I think it's inevitable really but we might just get our wish of them be pushed further into the background and a film where Bond is doing all the lifting himself rather than having a team backing him up.

I say use Felix in this capacity he's a field agent and one last chance to get DC & Wright together would be great, they have really good chemistry and Jeffrey is one of the best things about this era alongside Jesper Christiansen.

It's just neither got used enough, well we have a chance to let Leiter be more prominent in Craig's last, go on P&W and whoever joins the writing team you know this makes sense.
