Maybe folks just get fired up when there's a new movie, either because they loved it or they were disappointed?
True ..hey does anybody remember the name of the comic that featured the freefall I mentioned?
You see you're a more forgiving chap than me.
The above statement sounds all nice and warm and fluffy but is patently absurd.
If someone comes out and says 'the tsunami sequence in DAD is the best action scene in all of Bond' then they shouldn't be given a free pass; they should be called out on it and given a verbal kicking.
It might even be a crime to have such an opinion as at the very least it could constitute a breach of the peace and it might even be incitement to violence because it encourages people to set about you with sticks and bicycle chains.
@mcdonbb may not be quite as inflammatory but he certainly deserves to be told he's wrong.
The day we start not merely accepting but actually preferring CGI over real stunts is the day Bond dies and just becomes another standard action franchise.
Would that be the one where Bond ends up fighting dinosaurs in a massive eco dome? I seem to remember a freefall sequence off a waterfall. Can't for the life of me remember the title but it was Dark Horse circa mid to late 90s.
The silliest thing might the fall into a sofa in the PTS of SP. That said, I don't mind that bit of silliness.
No it's not Serpent's Tooth but you're right it around the same time and publisher.
Call out when I'm wrong? Really?
Both freefall sequences were sloppy btw so let's take that variable off the table.
MR sloppy? You're deluded, man.
He reminds me of the admiral in GE when he's about to die :))
=)) Z..z.Zenya ...arrrgh
I'm afraid you're still completely wrong.
You seem to be equating a stupid moment of humour after an amazing stunt sequence with something that didn't even attempt to be good because the moment you say 'let's just do it with CGI' you've given up on impressing the audience.
MR's sequence was not sloppy it was technically staggering and then spoiled by a stupid gag at the end. If the scene ended when Bond pulled the ripcord your wobbling argument wouldn't have the slightest leg to stand on.
QOS's is a fantastic concept but the moment they decide not to do it for real it's just an embarrassment. If they had just filmed the QOS scene like they had the MR one then it could have likely been one of the best sequences of all time - and that's the real tragedy.
I can see the chutes. But seriously I'm done with this conversation. You made your point. You win.
I enjoyed both sequences.
Did I say that? I said both were sloppy or could be argued as sloppy.
I'm seriously done with this conversation.
They didn't "actually shoot" that scene though. And it's obvious that they didn't actually shoot it. That's why it's terrible. If you think that the QoS has more realism or is more believable because you can "see the parachutes"....well perhaps you're trying to be ironic. Because the fact taht the QoS scene is fake is far, far more obvious than the parachutes in MR.
They actually shot it in a wind tunnel with a real life camera.
Y'all are missing my point. I NEVER SAID I DIDNT LIKE THE MR SEQUENCE NOR DID I SAY I DONT APPRECIATE THE SKILL EXHIBITED IN THAT SEQUENCE.
I SIMPLY STATED I PREFERED THE HARDER EDGE OF THE QS SEQUENCE.
AND I SAID NOT BY MUCH SO THE STUNT WORK SIGNIFICANTLY OFF SET THE CLOWN ELEMENTS IN THE MR SEQUENCE FOR ME.
And again ME ..MY OPINION MY OPINION.
IM AM DONE WITH THIS CONVERSATION AND CLOSE TO BEING WITH THIS FORUM.
Thanks ..I get you're right now move on.
There you go. Wasn't so hard to admit was it?!!
Yea I with you there. At least she wasn't CGI.
Nothing really ..they may have lingered on her a bit too long but truly not a big deal.
He's James Bond ..only nad trauma slows him down :D
Yup
Just seemed like such a bad execution to make Blofeld more menacing than he was played or written.
