Was the cello case sled scene the silliest part of Dalton's era?

Well was it?

To me it is anyway.

To me it's the Polaroid laser. Not the laser itself (it's all about the lasers you know), but the X-ray photo it produced. A real wtf moment. :))

I think Q had a special polaroid camera that scans for people and puts bones over the person as an elaborate prank. He needed that camera for Achmed's Halloween Party. ;)

I took 6 posts for someone to mention the blinking fish. [-(

    The bloody blinkin' fish again?!?!?!?
I thought we put that nonsense to bed a while back.
It was a water-flow powered ceramic statue that winked every few seconds.
    Please get over it. :P

A UFO flying over London. :))

I don't have time to answer that. I have to be back at work in 60 hours.

It has to be this scene for me...

The chap using the swordfish as a weapon, but Bond's reaction too it as well. A rare low point in Dalton's Bond.

Back on the subject of cellos: was only one used? Obviously if they shot it, it wasn't a real Stradivarius.
  • edited February 2015 Posts: 7,507
It was always funny how they could just shrug off the fact that the Stradivarius got a bullet hole in it. If it was the real world there would be reports in the news, and the best violin makers in the world would be paid a considerable amount of mony in order to salvage it. Instead Kara just keeps on playing with the hole still there! :)) Just for information, a hole like that would have a tremendous impact on the sound of the instrument. ;))

This deleted scene from TLD could have been a contender. More Moore than Dalton!

Not at all. The cello case getaway showed ingenuity from Bond. We could do with some of that these days. Not a big fan of LTK's winking fish, so that would be my silliest moment of the Dalton era.

That's it. Out of place and out of tone.

I agree with all those who've mentioned the bar fight using the fish !
Very silly and not in keeping with the tone of the rest of the film.

I find the Q stuff we're going to get later on even less in tone with the rest of the film.

Dalton should have played it more irritated than surprised. Oh well, no one's perfect.

Plus he gets the stupid "touche" line just after that when Pam smashes the thug over the head with the bottle.

There was no way he could have played this one right I think. Maybe Moore could have had. Maybe.

A touch of silly in a film like TLD or LTK is tolerated, even welcome, by those who like me appreciate an actor's successful take on Bond above all else.

Its been awhile since I've seen it, but what's silly about the bar fight again (serious question)?

It was played for laughs to a small degree, with a fellow using a taxidermied swordfish as a weapon & Bond reacting to it as if a serious threat.

I'm the resident "silly supporter" (although I'm of the firm belief that there is "good silly" and "bad silly" as I've posted elsewhere, and it's a fine line indeed).

I'd remove that scene, all the Q stuff and most of the truck chase scene (like Pam Bovier in the plane) if I had my druthers.
Oh brother your druthers are muthers.
