  • Feel for you @bondbat007. Would be great if the film opened everywhere on the same date. Would hate to have to wait a further 2 weeks with all the gossip and info filtering out. Problem is all the principal participants have to be at the different premieres. Producers, actors and director etc. Can't imagine the US or any other country being very happy with no stars there on opening night.

I can't imagine anyone other than the people actually at the premier caring.

Sorry, what I meant was the movie moguls in the countries, not the public.
  • No apologies necessary @Birdleson. :)

Because movies come out on Wednesdays and Thursdays in many countries (and not on Fridays like in the UK and the US), I cannot believe, that the UK release date will be Nov 6th, when many other countries will have the movie on the 4th or 5th.
In Germany it was the 29th of October first, but then it was pushed back by SONY to the 5th of November. But that is a safe date now.
So I guess the announcement at the media event last December was just for the US, and not for the UK. I believe it is still Oct 23rd. Maybe the will push it back to the 30th, but not to the 6th.

In France, the release date was scheduled on October 23rd but some sources (newspapers) claim it's now postponed to November 11th. Not yet clues in Belgium about this.

In France films open here on Wednesdays. But I remember for SKYFALL the film didn't open until the Friday. So I guess this time it will probably be the same. Hoping it does not open later than other countries!

In Germany there are preview screenins on Wednesday evenings, and on Thursday the movies will open nationwide.
So when it says that SPECTRE will be released on Nov 5th in Germany, it is actually the evening of Nov 4th.

today I recieved reply from the official James Bond Facebook page, saying that SPECTRE will indeed be released on Nov. 6 in the UK. (For the sake of a better argument, I wanted to upload a pic of the answer itself, but I can't understand how I upload a picture that doesn't have a URL, as demanded by the related icon.)

Press PrintScreen when you've got the response up on your screen, paste it into Paint or some program where you can (crop, and) save the image as a *.jpg or some other picture format. Upload this picture to Facebook or tinypic to get the requisite URL.

Aw, thanks for getting official confirmation. I was hoping we'd (UK) get it a little earlier.

As much as I'm sure my UK friends are bummed, please realize this is a good thing. Bond is bigger than ever now. With the internet, it would be the same as releasing Star Wars early with spoilers and plot summaries filling the web. I for one, am super excited to discuss SPECTRE with everyone while it's fresh in all of our minds!

As much as I would have liked it sooner, the later date makes sense and having it released the same as other territories will be better as some have already said for discussing the film and not ruining for it others.

If you aren't seeing this release day, can you really call yourself a Bond fan? I've seen all the Craig's on the first day and I'll booking the day off for this one.

Yes? A myriad of things could come up that doesn't allow a person to see it on release day. Maybe a person wants to wait for the return of an out of town friend. Maybe people don't like Daniel Craig. These people could still, of course, be considered Bond fans! I don't like the idea that there are set things that you must do to be considered a fan of something; if you like Bond, you're a Bond fan! Not all fans are as extreme as some of the members of this board :)

Having said all that, I'll definitely be seeing it on release day ;)

Spectre pushed back 2 weeks (UK-Start Nov. 6) (many other countries one week later), so i think it's impossible to broke the Skyfall-numbers, because Mockingjay 2 starting on Nov. 18 everywhere

Nothing has been pushed back. On December 4th, during the first photo call at Pinewood and the title release, it was communicated that "SPECTRE will premiere on November 6th 2015, USA and UK". For all those fans who doubt it, here are the articles:

    http://www.mi6-hq.com/sections/articles/bond-24-spectre-title-announcement
    http://www.mi6-hq.com/news/?itemid=11600
"SPECTRE begins principal photography on Monday, December 8, and is set for global release on November 6, 2015."

Also, as of today, the original UK premiere date of October 23rd is completely gone from the official 007-website. One more time, dear fans: It. Is. Deleted. Gone. Dead :-):
    http://www.007.com/bond24-announcement/

The confusion started to appear, due to lack of good and clear visibility and communication of the changes. But still, those official changes include the removal of the October 23rd UK date. The reason we're still talking about that old date, is because no one else on the internet is updating those badly communicated, though official release date changes. IMDB.com for instance.....

The exact reasons for the change? I don't know.

--> Perhaps the first has to do with the SonyLeaks. For instance, when the first reviews from the UK are slightly lacklustre, reviewers will instantly refer to the leaked draft screenplay as one of the causes. Then you can get bad word-of-mouth spreading from the UK to the USA. By opting for a "more global" release, everyone, every critic, needs to watch the film more or less at the same time....I guess.

--> Secondly, Bond has become bigger than big since "Skyfall" 1.1. Billion Dollar global box office. Off course the damaged Sony Pictures company wants to fully bet on the success of "SPECTRE". The same release date for both UK and USA is then slightly more logical. Just look at "Star Wars".

I'm far from one of the extreme ones but some things just need to be done and watching a Bond film on release day is one of them. Personally if someone wanted to see it with me and couldn't make the day I'd say I'll go with you but I'm still seeing it release day anyway. I guess if you aren't a Craig fan but I've been an advocate from the moment I saw Layer Cake and remain as strong a fan of his Bond, especially in the light of SPECTRE, which looks like it's going to be Bond with a capital B.

I don't buy all the merchandise, I couldn't a toss what watch Bond is wearing. I just enjoy the films (well some of them anyway) and they've been in my life over 3 decades and I remember going to see LTK my first Bond film on the release day aged 17. I think I might have watched GE & DAD on release days but the Craig's are always an event since 2006 I've been there on the first day and I'll no doubt be with my Wife watching it on the Friday it is released.

Tweeted screencap of Nov 6 UK date message to Tom at DCM (they're in charge of pre movie advertising in the big UK cinema chains), he reached out to Sony UK to clarify...
@TomLinay: @antovolk Just to let you know, I'm still getting 23 October from Sony.

So the issue still isn't resolved yet...

This guy should have posted a tweet from Sony confirming it, not a guy from UK cinemas tweeting "Just to inform you, I'm still getting October 23rd", when he hasn't properly updated his stuff. He doesn't show facts or sources of confirmation. So really, I think we're confusing ourselves. Following the press announcements from EON, on 007.Com, is the safest thing to do. So IT IS november 6th. Basta!

Thanks for the information. I hope they clarify soon as some people want to fly to the UK if it definitely released in October.

So you're suggesting he should've screencapped the email response he got from his contacts at Sony UK?

And if you've seen his original reply he said he'll chase the info up with Sony UK. So here's that.

Very confusing all this. They should better straighten out their channels, people want to know a definite date.

I'm in London on October 23 (not for this, but for other reasons), so I'm not giving up hope until it's absolutely undeniably certain
  • Getting ridiculous and frustrating now. I mean how difficult is it for the powers that be to confirm a release date for a film?

How much more confirmed than an email from the official 007 fb page can you get?
