Casino Royale - Craig? No, Brosnan!

No trouble: Craig is my favorite Bond since Connery. But what if EON kepted Brosnan in place?

(not your poster, the thought of Brosnan not being fired after DAD) ;)

Great poster! Well done. It`s a thought isn`t it?
I thought at one point Brosnan was pushing for Tarratino to direct him in CR, now theres a film I`d like to see! Not that I was dissapointed with Craig in CR.

More impressive work, Mr. Tron! :)

    Good poster :)

As much as I like Brosnan he was starting to look a bit old by the time DAD came around.

Nice poster. But Im still trying to forget Brosnan's run in the series.
  • Good work on the posters (but why is there smoke around Vesper's face?) but I don't think Brosnan (who I do like) had the acting chops or physical presence of Craig in CR. If he had done CR it would have been a MUCH different film, much to its detriment.

But that implies Brosnan was fired because of DIE ANOTHER DAY. Which is patently untrue - you can't put all the problems associated with the film on his head.

Seems fair, given that Craig is the star of GE now...

He wasn`t fired at all. His contract was for 3 films, with an option on the fourth.
After the fourth film was taken, he simply wasn`t re employed.

Not at all, it's just a question of timing. He was indeed fired in between DAD and CR's pre-production.

Call it what you want, when an actor is in negotiation to carry on a role he currently is holding, only to have the negotiations cease without any explanation from the producers or so he claims, that's being sacked in my book.

Anyhow, to go back to topic, the one on the right is my favourite, with the roulette table, nice touch.

Brosnan in CR? Nice work with the posters, but I would't have wanted to see that happen. I'm not fan of the Hulk Bond in CR as it is, but I also wouldn't have wanted another Count Smug von Smarm Bond film.
  • Brosnan was never going to get CR, that was wishful thinking on his part to think he could. He was too old and frankly didn't have the acting chops either. JMHO.

Nice job! It would be kind of karmic for Brosnan and Craig to swap Campbell films given Craig is the "star" of Goldeneye now

On the contrary - Brosnan should have started as Bond in 2002 and ended in 2012.

Sure DC, whatever you say. We really needed another geriatric Bond like your boy Moore.
  • I like Brosnan, but he was already looking uncomfortably long-in-the-tooth by DAD. Brosnan playing Bond in 2012 would have been embarassing.

Im sorry DC I tend to agree with alot of what you have to say but Brosnan in 2002 was 49 and looking old and out of shape with his pop belly hanging out in some scenes. Even if I hadn't hated Brosnan as much as I did, it was simply time to go. Had he went on to do Bond 21 and 22 and reached ih 6 movie goal, it would've been a disaster. Bond 22 with Brosnan probably would've been released in 2007 give or take, which would've made him 54. It would've been the Brosnan eqivallent of AVTAK with an actor way too old playing Bond. Roger Moore imo aged more gracefully then Brosnan as he looked much younger then 51 in Moonraker and 53 in FYEO. Octopussy is when he finally started showing his age.

Well I think Eon production had change since Barbara Broccoli & Michael Wilson to change of Eon Production. Since now Bond keep younger. Roger Moore might been too old in the last 3 films. Although they want to product their own version of Casino Royale since 2 production were no good. I would imagine Bronson in Casino Royale. That guy Quentine Tarantino who thought he get way cast Bronson in CR well in his dreams. I'm was glad Martin Campbell came back & improved Daniel Craig as the 6th 007 for Casino Royale. I was happy with Daniel Craig as James Bond. In 2 recent 007 movies.

Take a look at this :

    image

He is 57 in this picture. Not only did he gain real acting talent during the last several years, but he aged really well. He could have pulled off an aging Bond, on the verge of his last assignement..

My friend works at Heathrow airport and he apparently saw PB a few weeks ago. All his female colleagues kept looking at him and my friend couldn't believe how good he looked for his age (58).

True he does look a bit heavier during some scenes of DAD but he seems to have lost that weight and aged pretty well IMO. BTW I don't think he looked THAT bad in Die but certainly past his prime.

The PB from The Ghost Writer could still pull of a Bond.

Agreed, he looks better than pic than he did in DAD IMO.

I pictured more Bond likeness in Ghost Writer than all the movies from GE to QOS combined. Brosnan had buckets of authority, panache, charm and charisma in Ghost Writer.

@BAIN123 and @DarthDimi In an alternate world, I also pictured 'Ghost Writer Brosnan' as M. He really have the gravitas and magnetic presence in that film.

I will get slaughtered for saying this, but Brosnan in Ghost Writer puts Craig to shame. He was just amazing in the Polanski film.

I can still appreciate this Brosnan but I honestly wouldn't trade in Craig. ;;) I can't help it. I'm a fan of the Craig Bond.

Maybe, Dimi, we could agree Robert Harris (Ghost Writer author) should write a Bond script in the future ? ;;) He's a fantastic thriller author. I loved the work he did on 'Archangel', made into a BBC miniseries with Daniel Craig.
