I agree that I don't think QOS should have gone so early. I particularly like the dark blue/gold colour scheme of it, which seem to fit the mood of the movie well. The main thing against it though is the lack of sexy ladies - a Bond title sequence should ALWAYS feature sexy ladies..and no I don't consider ones covered in crude oil (TWINE) or make up of lava (DAD) particularly sexy lol.
The one I can't really figure out is the huge love for CR. Too bright and cartoony for me, seems like a Bond pastiche if anything.

Totally agree, and am also puzzled by the popularity. Sure it has a KILLER tune, but the lack of silhouettes is a deal breaker for me.

Shame about QoS! The song needs some time to get used to, but the look was actually pretty good.
As for why CS is so popular, it's not just the tune. I love the card game motif and the way they mixed that seamlessly with images of violence/blood and seduction. It does something new (hence not the focus on silhouettes that has been there since the Connery era), and yet still have it be Bondian. It's a feat not many title sequence designers would have achieved.
