Cut line from Dr No?
Dear all,
in a couple of weeks I am giving a lecture on Museum Thefts and therefore I am reading up on the Wellington portrait by Goya theft featured in Dr No. As you might know, it was stolen from the National Gallery in 1961 and not retrieved until 1965. However, Bond finds it in Dr No's lair as a entertaining detail put in by script writer Johanna Harwood.
Now, for my question. On various art sites this Dr No story is addressed, and when they refer to the scene they state that Connery says: "So that's where it went"
This do ring a bell with me but then again it doesn't so I watched the scene last nigh ton my UE edition DVD and Connery makes no such remark! There is simply a small fanfare-like piece of Monty Norman Music to highlight the painting.
So, do you know if this line is a myth or has it been cut in later years?
One thought I had was it might have been in there for the US print of the movie as they would have a limited knowledge of the Goya portrait theft. Connery's lips don't seem to move during this part of the scene either.

My father and I also attended a re-run of Dr No at an Arts cinema in 2009 and there was no line in that screening either but Whether it was in the Original theatrical version I have no idea.
Check the DVD commentaries. Terence Young changed that line that Saltzman wanted on the script. Young even threw him out from the set!
