Well, we know from the initial teaser blurb that "Gareth Mallory, the newly appointed M, continues fighting political pressures that threaten the future of MI6", so to fight such pressures requires a nemesis character. Most people know Andrew Scott as the nemesis of Sherlock Holmes (one of the characters that inspired Fleming to create Bond), so casting him as M's nemesis would keep him in type.

In my opinion, Andrew Scott brought off Moriarty very well as a complete lunatic genius, but I doubt whether he can do an intelligent and sinister genius as well. Besides judging by the picture Murdock posted above, he looks too much like a newly graduated yuppie anxious to get up the promotion ladder.

I think that Bond will get the main arch-nemesis Oberhauser(?), while back home M gets Denbigh (Scott).

It'll probably be similar counter-plotting to what we saw in SF where it was Bond v Silva out in the field and M v Mallory locking political horns back home.

I did not watch much of Sherlock but from what I saw I was never convinced by Moriarty as played by Andrew Scott. Moriarty should be sinister and Scott was more like an obnoxious evil geek than anything else.

Denis Villeneuve wants to do a future Bond film.:hmr:

"t’s strange, because I understand that each genre has its own specific rules, but for me, they are all movies. I’m just attracted to try to do different things, and I was very excited to make a movie that required more action. I was raised with James Bond. I love James Bond movies. I would love to do a James Bond movie one day."

YES. Barbara Broccoli, are you listening?

I honestly think she is. I have this theory that EON hires people to spy on forums such as this one, during the production of a Bond film.

Eon (under MGW) is way too cautious for this. They just ended the McClory lawsuit; they don't need another one!

Why would they need to spy? Is it illegal for them to read comments on Bond forums?

But anyway I'm certain they don't. They'll never get anything finished if they read the debates here....there's a whole thesis here on the "waste of good scotch" line for Christ's sake!!!

    =)) ...so true.

He would be the perfect choice at the perfect time. I haven't seen "Sicario" yet but i hear his work on this film is being praised by many people.

Oh, and if there's more chance of getting Emily Blunt on board for Bond 25 i'd hire him immediately.. :D [-O<

I'm hoping for an official press release today, like the vlogs... Although who knows, it may drop out of nowhere.

I don't think theatres outside the US will get or play the trailer until it's officially released online.

Same as the BBFC rating. The 1:15 on the US trailer sheet includes the 5 second green band at the start of US trailers, which international versions do not have.

I was planning to see Sicario this Saturday. Would I see the new Spectre trailer, or do theatre chains receive it the following week?

If you're in the US you should see it. Theatre chains already have it ready to play.

Interesting they're playing it before its online release. What about it Canada?

They're not playing it yet - they're playing it with Sicario from Thursday evening. They have it ready to play - it's on this week's trailer drive that they received a couple days ago. Same for Canada also.

Online release should be tomorrow at this point.

    Awesome! Any descriptions (without spoilering)?

I manage a movie theater, and the trailers hard-drive arrived today. I'm assuming the trailer will be playing on Friday's showings. I'm not sure how describe it, without spoiling it.
There's a scene where Bond is jumping out of the way from a falling building in Mexico, Waltz asks, "why did you come?" Bond responds, "I came here to kill you." Waltz, replies; "and I thought you came here to die." Bond; "It's All About Your perspective."

That's not how you do spoilers, buddy.

But the trailer sounds great, kind of reminds me of the goldfinger/Bond/laser/table exchange.

Even though it's short - do you think it's a good trailer? How does it rank compared to the teaser and the full length from July?

EDIT: seems like IMAX shows of The Walk will have it -

Yeah, it's a cool trailer. But any Bond trailer is a cool trailer for me. I actually run an art house theater, so sadly we'll probably never even play the trailer with anything we're showing. I actually saw Spectre was on the ingest list, so I just ingested that one, so I could watch it 5 times, lol.
The trailer starts with Bond in the helicopter looking at the Spectre ring. Also, after Bond shoots the window and the building window explodes, the building begins to fall towards Bond who is on a rooftop, and the building collapses ontop of the roof, having Bond running and jumping and hanging from a crumbling side of the building. Looks amazing, but a little cgi as well.

    @Jarrod,
So how well done does the CGI look? I know they're still working on it in post-production, but we are getting close to the UK release of it, so I'm curious if that part of the trailer was handled well or if it looks bad.

I think it all looks really good, but you'll have to be the judge for yourself.

Should we be expecting the trailer to be released tomorrow online?

Do they show much of the Morocco-set scenes in the new trailer?
