Wow :O Unfortunatelly they won't change this colour grading. Blame Hoyte van Hoytema!!! :D
The best comment so far. :D
You're just judging frames. You can not possible see at this stage what works better for the entire film.
It tires me a bit. Analyzing so much of these cinematographical choices. For the very same reason we started peeling off "Skyfall" and a few months later it was a movie with the worst CGI in years.
I'm not going to be part of it. I let myself indulge in the creative choices of the people who made that film. Moreover, it also makes "SPECTRE.........."SPECTRE", and not "Skyfall" part 2.
Did anyone actually notice this 1950's mood of old Hitchcock movies in "SPECTRE"? The 'warmth' comes back in every aspect. Not just the cinematography and the color filters. But also the 'sandy' locations in Morocco, the costume choices made by Jany Temime, and Gassner's production design (from M's old office to that Orient Express-esque train).
This is a forum. Analyzing, nitpicking and talking about things is sort of what the whole thing is based upon.
And yes, you're right. All of those things are top notch. However the problems arise when the grade dilutes those elements and lessens the effort made to bring them to life.

FTW
Btw thanks @Property OfALady now I've got that Coldplay song buzzing in my head ...
Eh could be worse ...could be.. (too easy and tired of talking about that $&%# song anyway)
She looks like she has the cold in the second one
Do you have anymore examples of this in movies (Bond or no Bond)?
Similar to Spectre, the color in the trailers was often brighter or more natural. People are overreacting to the different color tones. Additional mood is sometimes an asset, especially since we can expect the shots will mirror the characters emotions in some way.
This last one was a little borderline on the spoiler part. I don't really want to know anything else about the movie, plot, characters, cinematography, etc… until showtime.
No they don't ,
They show only a few new shots and they're well chosen
The Spectre trailers are far better than the Skyfall one's , those revealed a lot
Agreed. SP has done a great job in not really giving anything away. From the trailers all that's revealed is Bond is looking to take down Waltz character who is a member of the SP organisation and it looks incredibly exciting. Nothing is revealed or spoiled regarding specifics and particulars of the plot.
Exactly
Already better. It's my only bugbear thus far. Really, really don't get it. The still of Bond on running on the rooftops on 007.com looks far, far better than the overly graded version in the trailer. Had a few beers with a DOP mate of mine last night and he wasn't overly impressed. We both agreed the first trailer was promising, but these last couple highlight some very odd choices with the palette. Once we're into the film I'm sure it will become less obvious, but as it is I don't rate it, which is a shame because HVH is great.
yeah I don't think it will be as noticeable on a huge Imax screen the yellowish hue but that's an untrained eye saying that. Time will tell but I still expect all the scenes to look lovely.
I do too and the actually shots look awesome.
That shot from big ben remember me a bit to 28 days later and i like the two QOS releated shots. One with remember to Sam Mendes Road To perdition and Bond with glases/time on the wall. Finaly we see some pipeline what remember me to Chili from QOS (I bett there be some hot water in those pipelines) and Island from Skyfall (Bond, villian, Bond girl and 2 henchman...)
Skyfall's grade differed from the teaser trailer to the final piece, all be it, subtly.
-- Teaser Trailer --
-- Final Film --
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (US Version) is the most evident example that springs to mind. Every single shot in the first teaser trailer is graded extensively differently in the second trailer/final film. The reason grade's differ from the trailer to the final piece is, usually, because the DoP isn't present for the DI work on the trailer, since this is undertaken whilst production is still shooting.
Regardless, all this is almost irrelevant since the DI work for Spectre would have been long completed, so what we see in the final trailer, is 99.9% likely, what we'll see in three weeks time. I have no doubts the Mexico grade will work better on the big screen than it does in the trailer either. It receives no favours in the trailer, being cut side by side with differently graded scenes. However, on the big screen, in one big sequence, it should work. Once the sequence begins and audiences digest two or three shots graded that way, they'll take it for what it is, and soon become lost in the action.
Exactly. I found the less graded city pics too cold also. Not as atmospheric as the graded ones, which seems to be the point. Since its gonna be one piece before the PTS, it won't be interrupted by less graded scenes, which makes it hamnonic in itsself.
Wherther you like it as a whole is another question though. Some will, some won't.
HvH is building a movie based on grades, like a lot of DoP do.
Messico will be yellow exactly in the same way in which Scotland was Orange
I'm not a big fan of these concepts. But I guess that`s the way they design movies these days.
