It had to change, yep,DAD was nearly a step too far, only saved by a good first half of the film.
But they need to reign it in a little bit now,SP has shown that.

In CR, when Bond tells Vesper he wants her to wear something stunning so when she walks up to the table and kisses him, the whole room will be watching.... he's wanting Le Chiffre to experience his own feelings at the table earlier in the movie, when he wins the Aston Martin.
Yes, I got that bit and it was a nice touch. He was learning as he went along.

Except that in Bond's case, he still won the money/car from Demetrios. It was Demetrios who was distracted/pissed by her appearance. This was the irony.

Good point. Demetrious was pissed that she was late, as I recall. That gave it away that her entry may have been pre-planned to put the others off guard, but the timing was off.

Interestingly, Bond lost too at first, despite using Vesper.

I'm late to the party on this one, I'm sure:

Rory Kinnear is the son of Roy Kinnear, whom I have always known from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

That I didn't know. Roy Kinnear was great in Taste The Blood of Dracula (1970) as well. Very very cool bit of info.

In SP, during the meeting in Rome, one of the members at the table is wearing a yarmulke!

I was appalled that there weren't more women. What? Can't women be just as evil as men? EON are so sexist. And racist, even though that has nothing to do with gender.

EON are correctly portraying the organization of a world-wide network, aka multi-national corporation. This also means there has to be an overwhelming majority of men, otherwise it would be discriminatory towards real-life women. Suppose there were equal numbers of women and men in S.P.E.C.T.R.E, it would mean that women have better career chances in criminal organizations than in non-criminal ones, and by extension, that the percentage of criminals is greater among women than among men. Are you really advocating that?

That whole scene went on forever. Like pulling teeth. If I was Blofeld, I would have told them to get on with it!

M's complete lack of interest in Madeleine in SPECTRE is quite amusing...

    "I'm M..."
    "Madeleine Swann"
"Pleased to meet you. Right then 007....."

    He literally ignores her.

He was probably thinking, right let's get this over with and I can do a proper film like The Lego Batman Movie.

I always found that scene a bit odd. As odd as Craig's deadpan stoneface when Madeline says she's leaving a few minutes later. "You're leaving?". "Yep." "Ok, whatever. See ya."

Well to be fair, M had less than thirty minutes to stop a powerful criminal organization from taking complete control of massive global surveillance streams and becoming omnipotent. The approaching deadline called for a cutting of pleasantries.

N'ah, I think he was thinking If we just get on with this this film might not be the longest and most boring of Bond movies.

Reminds me of AVTAK: Chuck Lee seems pretty excited and honored to meet/work with THE James Bond, just for Bond to irritably retort "Thanks, now what about Zorin?"
