    Woah. Nice finds @Master_Dahark @bondjames and @Mendes4Lyfe
So cool to spot little easter eggs like this. In all the years I've been watching these movies I've never picked up on any of these.
Can't tell you all enough just how much I appreciate these message boards for bringing things like this to my attention!

Excellent find! Now how do we find out what the painting is?

That's a great touch. I can't believe that nobody shared that piece of trivia in the last 10 years! Not the decorator, not in the dvd, not the producers... !!

    Maybe they forgot about it.

It seems that painting has a partner, as seen in the OHMSS hotel. In CR, there's just the first part present.

A thing I never noticed before : James Bond already drive a Lotus car before the movie TSWLM. In fact he drive an Lotus Elan +2 in the comics strip The Harpies (1968-1969).

Is it safe to assume that Judi Dench stayed in that hotel and stole the painting?

I know you stole that painting in Portugal.

This is why she is so pissed at Bond for breaking in. She is a klepto and the apartment is full of stolen goods.

It was Bond that stole it and gave it to M as a Xmas present.

    Just finished TB.

I noticed a few things that hadn't caught my eye before

    3. Felix is seen wondering in and out of the film frame (quite conspicuously) while Bond is with Domino at lunch and then later at dinner after the casino. This is all before he meets up with Bond at room 304.

This is because the sequence had been changed in editing, the events in room 304 happen before the dinner at the casino.

That explains why Bond and Felix talk in the background at the end.

I've always thought it was to show the CIA had spottet Bond but didn't find the right moment to talk to him. Never seen that felix-bond chat though. Will look into it as soon as I can.

@CommanderRoss, I look at it like this: From the moment Bond came up the beach with Domino, he'd spotted Felix and knew he was there-or maybe he was even informed by MI6 that Felix would be his CIA contact on the ground, and he was chosen for the job because of their success together in the Jamaica and Kentucky operations. Bond and Felix, knowing of each other's presence in the Bahamas, are then just waiting for the right moment to "talk shop," which comes during the hotel scene. Up until that time Bond was too out in the open to speak to him, as he was fixed in the sight lines of Largo's men. If he and Felix began talking just after Domino had left during that day lunch or at the even more packed casino, the organization would know very early that the Americans and Brits were teaming up against them, and had found out their major players and scheme early. To avoid jeopardizing the state of the mission, Bond and Felix had to meet more privately.

This ends up not working entirely as planned, as Felix comes the same moment one of Largo's boys tries to get at Bond in the hotel, blowing the cover Felix may (or likely not) have had. The funny thing is that before his death by sharks, Quist never relates the information that Bond is in bed with the CIA and is getting their help. Maybe Largo already knew this fact, given his wide connections, and was simply focused on dealing with Bond in the appropriate moment to stop an counter-attacks from going against them.

If Felix was blown and SPECTRE already knew Bond well, you wonder why the two of them spend so much time dancing around each other in the field instead of talking. If people already know who they are, why hide it?

Seems like a solid explenation to me. Quist doesn't get the chance to relate and I think Largo/SPECTRE are not aware of the Americans just jet. When Largo looks at poor Quist he can see he failed and he has no patience with failure. He's a very confident and arrogant man (see his sitting in the conference room when one gets fried) but has a very short fuse when he's beeing thwarted. He can hardly contain himself when Bond wins, and when Bond asks if he can dance with Domino. 'You want Bond dead?', 'I can think of nothing better'. He lets himself be distracted, Fiona keeps him on track. But Fiona isn't there when our wet cat Quist is dropped in the shark pool.....

@CommanderRoss, absolutely. If Fiona was in charge, things would've been different. But thankfully for Bond, she wasn't.

If you watch the making-of docu it mentions the switching around of scenes to better pace the film.

I never really connected this until I read that from you this week. I had never wondered why Sean was wearing the same clothes at lunch with Domino and at the hotel meeting with Felix, two scenes that are split up by the casino scene that makes them occur on two separate days instead of one after the other. Mind-bending.

When both Miss Anders and Bond are talking in his hotel suite, he says "That's why I use the old three pillow trick." In this instance he was referencing pillows to fake a silhouette whilst sleeping to protect himself (also so Goodnight wasn't seen). But this made me think of Dr. No's infamous Smith and Wesson moment because Bond uses the same trick. I watched it and Connery's Bond does actually use three pillows!

So this is another instance which adds to the running continuity of the films (at least prior to Craig but that's debatable). Now we have a link between Dr.No and TMWTGG! Different actor, same Bond.

You Only Live Twice is the only movie that takes place in a single country (Japan), save for the pre titles sequence and the space bits, but they dont involve 007 so I dont count them.

During TMWTGG's PTS when Rodney walks through the 'fun house', he actually is getting shot at with real bullets by the wax/animatronic mobsters. I always thought they were shooting blanks to simply distract him and/or make him paranoid. Why would Scaramanga allow his guests to be shot down like that? It would've ruined the fun he gets out of it, right?
