You Only Live Twice is the only movie that takes place in a single country (Japan), save for the pre titles sequence and the space bits, but they dont involve 007 so I dont count them.

    Russia is featured.

Not a lot of TMWTGG makes much sense.

During TMWTGG's PTS when Rodney walks through the 'fun house', he actually is getting shot at with real bullets by the wax/animatronic mobsters. I always thought they were shooting blanks to simply distract him and/or make him paranoid. Why would Scaramanga allow his guests to be shot down like that? It would've ruined the fun he gets out of it, right?

As far as I have ever seen its only blanks being fired with smoke.

Never noticed before: In Dr No Trueblood is saying Strangways call sign and she says 'WXN' - I always thought she said 'W6N' - I only discovered this because I read the opening chapter of Dr No again for the first time in ages.

I swear the subtitles say W6N

That's what I always remembered but I saw bullet holes in the glass behind him right after the guns stopped firing. I swear.

EDIT: What sharp little eyes I have... Just checked the scene again and I am correct. Here's a photo of the bullets after having hit the mirror/glass next to Rodney: screenmusings.org/movie/dvd/The-Man-With-the-Golden-Gun/pages/The-Man-With-the-Golden-Gun-042.htm

If you watch the film again you'll see them hit the glass one by one so they are definitely firing live ammunition. But yeah, odd that I only noticed it last time whilst watching it even though I've seen it ~20 times.

Hmmm I've never noticed that...this is when he is facing the gangsters or the 'Roger Moore cowboy ' ?

Yes, it seems as if Al "Don't Hold It Against Me" Capone is firing live bullets before his arms drop off.

Okay, I've changed it back to the link. (allowed?)

What I did was copy the image (after opening it in a new tab) and put it into the image format: [img][/img] . How is that different from your way? Is the rule that all official screencaps are not allowed to be embedded, but normal photos are? I.e. the official screencaps are only presented as URL code and you have to click to see the photo.

    That's perfect,well done old chap !!
It's just an old agreement between MI6 here and EON themselves..they let us get away with all things Bond in return for no screen shots of the films, but links are fine.

Why would there be a different rule for screencaps and other photos?

There is no rule other than no photo's of official Bond films shown, just links, thats the gentlemen's agreement we have with EON.

Why? If you comment or review on a screencap it's fair use. No copyright issues.

Perhaps Scaramanga was testing the mettle and survival tactics of his possible associates, to see if they're worthy of working with him? In a sense, his decision to only work with (near) equals?

@tanaka123, I and many others have brought up the fair use argument for copyrighted pictures many times, but it seems that there's a moratorium on posting any Bond related images from EON films. Many think this is due to the fact that the site that this forum is attached to gets exclusives from EON at times, and to avoid harming that special deal with them they agree to stop members from posting copyright images on the open forum. How true this is, I don't know.

I agree that it's silly, however. For starters, they're simple images from the films, that are harmless. It's not like people want to post links to watch the films for free, or anything like that that would genuinely hurt EON's business. We just want to show a picture of what we're trying to point out to others from the films, to make it clearer for everyone else exactly what we're talking about.

True. The youtube clips are more of an 'infringement' in terms of giving away elements of plot and what not.

Yeah, but the Walther PPK Bond's dummy is holding is loaded with real bullets! Why did he do that? and wouldn't 007 have looked complete tit if he fired and it was only loaded with blanks! "…oh, shit!"
Really TMWTGG just doesn't hold up, such a lazy piece of film-making, if it wasn't for Christopher Lee…

Fair enough. That's certainly something I've noticed before as well. TMWTGG, like Tosca, is not for everyone.

You know what really bothered me. In the PTS, of the man with the golden gun, last time so watched it, I noticed that Roger Moore is standing in for the "model" and he is shaking and it's fairly obvious that he's just there in person

Indeed. Bond is all about suspension of disbelief to an extent. The whole premise is rather fantastical, when one thinks about it.

The special effects weren't as advanced back then, so Roger had to stand in for the dummy. That's how I've always looked at it. These days it would be some CGI infestation, and I prefer the real thing even if he was shaking a bit.

I'm sure that these days they'd take a shot of Dan in pose, import it into the computer and give the model of his body a certain layer of effects to make his skin look waxy. Or they'd "borrow" the other Dan from Madame Tussauds on loan.

Surely Scaramanga had the live rounds available for the training exercises Nick Nack arranged. And easily verified by OO7 with a quick look at the magazine.

Once confirmed on sight as a real Walther, I'd check it out.
