Also Pushkin's body guard has a good deal of screen time and never says a word. Beyond Oddjob, he might be the second longest on screen muted character (since Jaws and Hinx both speak).

    Vargas?

Vargas does speak, when they think the boat blades have killed Bond, after finding his oxygen tank from his scuba gear.

He says "Let's get back and tell Largo" (something similar), and dashes off.

Never noticed the sign at the harbour in St Monique which says something like:

'Dr Kananga says - Remember the tourist is your friend. Treat him like one' (not the exact wording but close).

You need a big screen and blu ray to see it.

    For TLD's 30th anniversary:

Never noticed that there is a brief throw away scene when Pushkin is first being introduced they have cameras taking pictures of him with a little satellite transmitter sound going. The camera then zooms on a yacht in the sea. It is the yacht we later see Bond taken too to meet Leiter. It was the CIA taking pictures of Pushkin.

Also Pushkin's body guard has a good deal of screen time and never says a word. Beyond Oddjob, he might be the second longest on screen muted character (since Jaws and Hinx both speak).

Erm .. I noticed that on first viewing ... when I was 11 years old!

Aha, I just noticed this too on my last viewing!

Locque never speaks in FYEO and he's on screen way more than Pushkin's guard.

Sure it wasn't 'Aha' and he was channeling his inner Partrirdge?

What's the debate here? Who has the most screentime without speaking?

    Hans maybe?

    AH! AH! is hardly speaking.

He opened his lips, sound emanated from his vocal chords, Goldfinger understood what he was communicating - he was speaking.

I understood my cat as well when he was making noise (by the noise) but you wouldn't call that talking..

I'm sure there are more interesting aspects of the Jimmy Bond universe to talk about ..zzzz..

Although Sean Connery worked with several prestigious film directors, including Hitchcock, Spielberg, Huston, and Lumet, Roger Moore was the only Bond actor to be directed by Robert Altman.

(Moore and Altman worked together on the season four Maverick episode "Bolt from the Blue," which Altman also wrote.)

I can think of no better topic to talk about than not talking!

Good call with Locque @bt3366! Was trying to go through other henchmen and forgot about him. Chang in MR could be another candidate as I don't think endless screams after scream counts as dialogue.

Also would not count Oddjob's AH AH! As dialogue, though I do use it every time I'm on the golf course.

Chang did speak though,to Goodhead, saying she had to phone Drax.

Hmm... fair point @barryt007. No audible dialogue, thus making him still silent!

Apart from the fact that it's audible enough for one to quote it:

'Mr Drax say to telephone him'

You really must give me the name of your otologist - so I can avoid him.

I'll still stand by that to my grave. It has to be a conspiracy by EON and the studio because she definitely had them.

    Fake news @TheWizardOfIce, emBrace it!

    Mute:
refraining from speech or temporarily speechless.
"Harry sat mute, his cheeks burning resentfully"
    synonyms: silent, speechless, dumb, unspeaking, wordless, voiceless, tongue-tied, at a loss for words, tight-lipped, close-mouthed, taciturn, uncommunicative;

It says 'refraining from speech', not refraining from an attempt on speech.

Reminds me of the discussion on when to call something a car chase. Was that one stored safely somewhere? It's very important to know what one is talking about!

    Fair points.

Maybe Kratt in CR? Just stands out of focus behind Le Chiffre all the time. The Rory Kinnear of henchmen.

I'm pretty certain that Kratt whispers in Le Chiffre's ear during the card game on his boat. Afterwards, doesn't Kratt ask about the guests? To which Le Chiffre responds; "Give our guests xx minutes to leave. Or throw them overboard."

I just viewed the scene on youtube. There was certainly an "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!" but no "NOOOO!".

Perhaps his mutism was overcome in that instance by a subconscious impulsive fear driven vocal reflex action? ;-)
