1-Casino Royale - First film not to make me miss Connery
2-From Russia with Love - A gritty realism lacking in almost all other films.
3-Goldfinger - The grandest villain of all.
4-The Living Daylights - Because it didn't star Roger Moore.
5-OHMSS - Solid story not filled with the silliness of films to come.

    3- Goldfinger (Classic and entertaining)
4- From Russia With Love (Great and more of a 'spy' film than most others)

Goldfinger is probably my favorite. Other than that my view changes and I have too many ties to give a definitive list. CR is one of my favorites. Moonraker too. Both Dalton films. OHMSS and GE. But I can't put them in order that satisfies me for this top five listing.

@00Beast, I understand Stamper and Wai Lin, but I am not a fan of Carver and Terri Hatcher as Paris Carver. He and Dominic Greene in QoS are just too wimpy to be a realistic threat to James in my eyes. Also I didn't like the "let's take over the world via headlines and a big drill" premise of Carver. However, I do agree with you that Stamper was a good "badie". I wish he were in a different movie. Also when I think about it, it does have a lot of action when you add up the opening sequence, the motorcycle vs. helicopter chase, and the end scene, but I guess I just can't get over my dislike for Elliot and Paris Carver.
Well, I agree with you on Paris Carver. I hated her character. I wish Elliot had called Dr. Kaufman much, much earlier!
However, I never had a problem with Elliot Carver's plan. To me, it was pretty inspired and showed just how desperate and mad he was just to get some more news coverage!

I was just upset with Carver's fate. A bit anti-climactic, but you could only assume something like that would happen, given how old he was.

I was watching a review of TND recently which said it could have been better if Carver was brought in by Bond and imprisoned for his crimes rather than being killed. Imagine carver in prison watching his own news network as well as others laying into him? Could have been interesting!

@BAIN, I like that idea! Just having him watch his own news network either be destroyed or come under new management, telling the complete opposite of the news he had hoped to broadcast. Would destroy him.

    No particular order:

    The Living Daylights
    Licence to Kill
    Casino Royale
    Quantum of Solace
    From Russia With Love

Agreed! Would have been worse than death in Elliot's eyes to see his plan foiled, lose his exclusive broadcasting rights in China, and watch his news network plummet. I didn't like his death either. He just stood in the way of the Sea Vac drill, practically saying, "Come and get me!" Every time I watch it, I just want to scream, "Get out of the way, idiot!" Even if death was the only way out for Carver in the director's eyes, just have Bond shoot him. That would have been a little more satisfying than what we got.
