criminals to voice characters, yeah I have a problem with it. I don't give a shit about this game as I wont be buying it...just trying to stir up a little controversy. I haven't bought a rockstar game since GTA2, for good reason.

So then what the hell is your problem? Jesus, you've missed out on the entire fucking series! How do you have any right to complain about GTA if you've not played one for 14 years? So what, they hired authentic people with actual experience in their characters' situations to voice them? What the hell does that matter? That just adds to the experience and authenticity of the game. You said it yourself, you're "just trying to stir up a little controversy". That's not what these forums are for. Go do that shit somewhere else.

controversial opinions are exactly what this forum is all about....seriously? Without opinions we would have nothing here. I just simply ask questions to hear what the die hard sheep have to say. I don't understand why its "cool" to use real criminal hood rats to voice game characters, they are criminals for a reason...blah blah blah

Controversial opinions and productive discussion that ensues as a result are the reason this forum exists. Causing controversy and saying the same thing six times (I believe that's the number of times you've now made a comment with "HERRDERR CRIMINALS ARE VOICING CRIMINALS WHAT A FAIL WOREST GAEM EVURRR" as the main point) just for the sake of causing controversy is not that reason.

@WillardWhyte, we can't follow your logic because you feel you can judge a developer whose games you haven't even touched in years and one game you haven't played a single bit of. You can't logically make concrete opinions based on literally nothing of substance to give support to your views.

And controversy is great when your opinion is genuine and just happens to be shocking and "out there", but when it becomes controversy for its own sake and is said to just ruffle feathers, then it is just plain childish.

@WillardWhyte, sounds like you should grow some thicker skin if you really let something that minuscule bother you. Sounds pretty pathetic to me.

If we are 'die hard sheep,' are you not considered the same thing to the MGS series? And don't point out that you had a complaint about the series (switching characters), so you aren't, because I, too, pointed out that I wrote off 'GTA V' at one point because I didn't like the idea of switching characters, because I've come around to it.

Well this is all nice and dandy, but I think we need a distraction! Who here likes Mario? I DO! :)
4 player Mario Action that's right 4 players.
    Mario
    Luigi
    Princess Peach and
    Toad!
Now this is a Mario Party! ;)

I'm really excited for the game but hiring criminals is a pretty stupid idea.

They didn't hire real criminals for Scarface, Goodfellas, the Godfather films, etc, but they didn't feel any less authentic because of it.

Nah, it's all about Zelda :) I'm looking forward to the Wind Waker remake.

Not sure about Goodfellas, but for Scorsese's Casino they hired an ex-hitman to portray a hitman in the movie. I had no problem with that. Nor do I have problem that Goodfellas was based on real events and real murderers.

So I really don't have a problem if Rockstar hired some goons to voice gamecharacters.

Okay, I know some of the criminal voice actors have been in prison (like one who got out the day before he started recording), but, to my knowledge, none of them are murderers, rapists, arsonists, etc. The Soldier of Fortune series (which, sadly, hasn't had a good game since Soldier of Fortune II) hired an actual mercenary as a consultant. I don't exactly see the problem with Rockstar hiring people who have some experience in the world they're showing in the game. For God's sake, the writer of the movie Scarface spoke to actual Colombian druglords while writing the film. Rockstar's move seems pretty tame, to me.

Even going into films, as well, 'American Gangster' saw the director and actors speaking with the real Frank Lucas about the events, and he was a murderer.

Absolutely. Fantastic film, and I love the slow buildup to the final clash between Lucas' men and Roberts' men. So intense.

And Danny Trejo has a nasty criminal past too:

"While on the streets, Trejo developed talent as a boxer and considered taking it up as a profession; however, that ambition ended when he was sentenced to 11 years for drug, murder, and robbery charges. While serving his sentence in Holmesburg Prison, he became the Pennsylvania state prison champion in both the lightweight and welterweight divisions.[8] During this time, Trejo became a member of a twelve-step program, which he credits with his success in overcoming drug addiction. He also served time in Folsom State Prison. Trejo was released in 1972.[2] Upon his release he enrolled in Pitzer College located in Claremont, California but subsequently left after one semester of attendance."

And the man has gone on to be successful and star in hundreds of films.

Assassin's Creed Liberation (the vita game), is apparently getting a HD release on the main consoles.

I don't have a Vita so, having never played it, I'm really looking forward to it. Basically means I get two Assassins Creed games in one year! :)

Hope it's out on Wii U but that's not likely to happen. I'll probably end up having to play it on xbox.

ACIII was released on the Wii U, who's to say Liberation won't be?

Y'know, it sounds like a good year to be an AC fan... maybe I should try to pick the series back up again.
  • I think Liberation will probably be released digitally and the Wii U isn't great when it comes to downloadable content. Although I think the DLC for Assassins Creed 3 came out on Wii U (just later than the others) so who knows.

Assassin's Creed 4 will be on Wii U though so I'm happy with that.

If Ubisoft is smart, they'll release Liberation on disc. Capcom did it with Resident Evil Revelations, and they made the dumbass move of cancelling a half dozen Mega Man games, so if they can do it, Ubisoft can do it.

Just make it $20, and fans'll flock at all hours of the day.

That was absolutely hilarious! I didn't see anything I didn't like, and I can't wait to watch all of them on the game's TVs.

I lost my shit when I saw the animated Gordon Moorhead. If they actually have a full animated version of it this will be the best game ever regardless of anything else in it.

I think it will be a full show, yes, with at least one or two episodes. I am a big noir fan, and I can't wait to see Rockstar's comedic spin on it. They pack so many layers into their games it is amazing just how much they are able to pull off. No other game developer comes close for me.

No, I love noir, but Gordon Moorhead was a radio sketch in Vice City Stories. Hilarious.

Really? That's awesome! I have only played GTA IV previously, so I was ignorant to that.

I hope we get Lazlo back too! I believe he confirmed that he was working on it, so signs point to yes. His stuff is hilarious, and one of the best parts of GTA IV for me, so GTA V would be that much better if he was back again.

Lazlow has been in every game since III, with the exception of Advance and Chinatown Wars, which both had no spoken dialogue. He portrays himself every time as a radio host. He goes from a rock intern (Vice City Stories, 1984) to the host of the rock station (Vice City, 1986) in Miami to a talk show host in San Andreas (1992) to the host of Chatterbox in Liberty City (1998 and 2001) to the host of Integrity in 2008. I'd imagine he'll have a return to San Andreas in 2013. Funny thing is, the real Lazlow Jones is about 45 so he could've done all this in real life at the same times. He's basically had a bigger arc than any character in the series haha.

I suggest you play III, Vice City and San Andreas. Those three games all blow IV out of the water.

I don't see concrete information, but I'm 95% sure Lazlow is set to return in GTA V. I loved cruising around listening to Integrity 2.0, just hearing Lazlow get excited when people realized who he was, only to find out they thought he was a dick after what happened in San Andreas and whatnot over the years.
  • I never really listened to the radio much in GTA. That's one of the (admittedly few) things that I think Saints Row does much better.
