Why would any intelligent being pick a sports game over a Zelda game?

Because although I really enjoy the Zelda games, I also really like football.

Then go play it for real.
  • I do that as well but playing for a pub team isn't the same as being able to play and manage premier league teams is it?

No, it's a helluva lot more fun.

    This makes me happy

    http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/gaming/nintendo-wii-u-sales-up-685-as-zelda-wind-waker-hd-hits-shelves-8878783.html

Might not be as powerful tech wise as the new playstation or the xbox but games can still look brilliant on it (I honestly think the new Wind Waker is the best looking game ever), the gamepad is brilliant (and surprisingly comfortable to play with), it's cheaper, and it has Zelda.

So I think I made the right choice.

Fantastic. I think it'll be one of the best games ever.

This is bad news. I was looking forward to Watch Dogs next month:

Wow, that's a shame and should make these new consoles an even tougher sell this Christmas.

I'll just cancel 'Watch Dogs' and have $60-some in my wallet. I don't feel like keeping that kind of money on a reserve for over half a year or so. Knocks me down to three Day One purchases now.

While I was thinking about getting it, I'm actually kind of glad. I was worried about balancing that and Arkham Origins (along with GTA 5), something I hate doing. Now I can focus all of my time on my favorite hero come release.

Why is this surprising anyone? I had Watch Dogs pegged as a 2014 game from the time it was revealed.

New Artwork for Super Mario 3D World. :)

If you look in the very righthand corner of the picture, you can see Rosalina's comet observatory from Super Mario Galaxy. This game is looking more and more awesome with a dash of mystery. I can't wait to get this game next month. :D

Oh you're far from the only one. Every time I click on something related to this game the comments section has been slagging it off. I've read a lot about it and I think it's really going to surprise people.

    Hmmmmmmmm

    http://kotaku.com/source-the-next-aliens-game-stars-ellen-ripleys-daugh-1449318113

Only one Alien? Heavily inspired by the first Alien movie? A horror game? Using the likes of Dishonoured as inspiration? Not many guns?

Sounds fantastic. In Colonial Marines (in my opinion the worst game ever made), the Aliens were nothing more than terrible looking cannon fodder that leapt across the room and punched you in the face. Seems like they're trying to make them scary here.

But it's not all good. Shooting clones and soldiers? Why? They've done this in the last two games. If I play an Alien game, I want to fight Aliens, not a bunch of soldiers that look exactly the same.

Still, sounds quite good. I'm optimistic and I don't think we should all be nervous about it because of the last game. I think we can blame Gearbox for Colonial Marines. I read about it a bit and the story behind how shit it is is tragic. Apparently they put all their time (and most of the budget they were given) into their own original game (Borderlands, which I've never played) and they outsourced most of the game to other studios.

Gearbox (especially Randy whateverhisnamewas, that smug twat with the specs), kept going on about how big fans they were and how great the game would be because they were making it. Of course that was when everyone was hyped up for it because of the fake gameplay they were showing. When the game came out, they disowned it, saying it wasn't their game!

I hope some day they go out of business. I'd settle for that smug liar Randy losing his job though.

@thelivingroyale, the clones and soldiers will be there because they don't want the ADD generation to get bored too quickly. I think they could make an incredibly scary game with one Alien, maybe a few facehuggers, and just a giant spaceship or something that you have to escape from.
  • edited October 2013 Posts: 12,837
Apparently it is only set on one space ship which I think is quite cool. They could make it feel dead tense and claustrophobic this way.

Using Ripleys daughter is interesting. I take it then that this is set between Alien and Aliens? I'm guessing the clones will be Weyland-Thingy soldiers and that when they told Ripley that her daughter had lived a normal life and died of old age they were lying, covering up some conspiracy involving the Aliens (which we'll play through in this game).

It's a decent idea but it's a risk. Gearbox had the cheek to market Colonial Marines as "the true sequel" to Aliens and look how that turned out. It might be a better idea to not mess about with the films.

I doubt I'll rush out and purchase it, no matter how good it looks, thanks to 'Colonial Marines.' I'll wait for the reviews to come out and see if the game bombs like its predecessor or not.

I never played Aliens Colonial Marines although I'm well aware of the piss poor reviews and livid feedback from the fans it received. I was put off long before when the game was frequently delayed from being released. That told me development was suffering from a distinct lack of quality. What amazed me from those two videos @thelivingroyale is the bare faced lies from Randy Whatshisface. Staggering that CEO's are able to get away with this. How the hell an early demo can look so much better than the finished article is beyond me!

@WillyGalore, I read a pretty lengthy article about the downfall of 'Colonial Marines' and how a lot of people in charge got into a whole heap of trouble.

I think anyone who bought that game brand new should've been given their money back for such a piss-poor quality product.

Yes of course that will never happen but shame on all of those involved at Gearbox and SEGA from creating this catastrophe.

@WillyGalore, it's why I try not to purchase $60 games, unless they're from a series that I know and love. BF4 and Forza 5 next gen? No problem, I've loved every previous installment, but even with 'Dead Rising 3,' it looks good, but I wasn't crazy about the first two games, so I'm debating on whether I should cancel the reserve or not. It's just too big a risk anymore, and I can't believe that such a horrendous product was shipped in terms of 'Colonial Marines.' Everyone who worked there and was responsible should have been fired.

As of May, the game had sold over 1.3 million units. How the hell did that happen? At around £40 per game that's over £50 million! I therefore suspect that Randy Whatshisface, Gearbox and SEGA couldn't give a toss what we or anyone else thinks. They've made a nice wad of cash from the poor unsuspecting consumer!

@WillyGalore, and they can bathe in that money while deleting all of the customer care reports, complaints, bug and glitch reports, etc. They couldn't care less at that point. It's why I try to hold off on big purchases until I'm 100% sure I know I want it.

As I said, thankfully I never bought it but I always keep track of poor games and their developers so I make a note never to buy any of their future products if they're going to treat their customers with such contempt. Alas, in hindsight I should have applied that same logic to Activision and Eurocom.

@WillyGalore, same. I have a good list of developers I really steer clear from. I don't care if they have a horrendous track record or not, if they pull something on purpose that's really cheap or something with intentions of getting customers to buy their mediocre product, I avoid them.

Take 'Operation Flashpoint': they praised the realistic graphics and intense, realistic gameplay. A few weeks before release, they mysteriously cancel the demo. Full game comes out, I rent it, and what do I get? Mediocre graphics, terrible pop-in issues, horrendous AI, and enemies that take more than one magazine to kill. Far from realistic, far from beautiful. I've avoided their games ever since.

I've been reading some articles on the whole Colonial Marines debacle.

    http://www.computerandvideogames.com/417244/randy-pitchford-defends-colonial-marines-says-it-wasnt-intended-to-exploit/

This Randy Pitchford comes across as the most obnoxious and arrogant man possible.
