BOND POLLS 2017: 007 Literature Contest, TOP 10 Fleming's Best [RESULTS, WINNER & RUNNER-UP, page 8]

edited August 2017 in Literary 007 Posts: 11,119
The rules of the game are very very simple. Everyone in this forum needs to rank all Ian Fleming's 21 Bond Novels and Short Stories in TOP 10 order, from worst work towards your best quality novel. Once that has been done, 'Eurovision Song Contest' points will be attached to everyone's TOP 10 ranking. The points are:

12 POINTS: Your No# 1 Bond Novel
10 POINTS: Your Runner-up Bond Novel
08 POINTS: Your 2nd Runner-up Bond Novel
07 POINTS: Your 4th placed novel
06 POINTS: Your 5th placed novel
05 POINTS: Your 6th placed novel
04 POINTS: Your 7th placed novel
03 POINTS: Your 8th placed novel
02 POINTS: Your 9th placed novel
01 POINT: Your 10th placed novel

It would be helpful if you already name your TOP 10 ranking with the points attached to it, like you can see above. And to keep it simple, in this contest we will only vote for Ian Fleming's novels.

Be aware, that as it's hard to find enough voters for this literature poll, the poll also runs on IMDB. To be precise, devoted James Bond literature fans can also vote in this poll in the IMDB-James Bond forum ánd the IMDB-SPECTRE forum. So the totals will be combined:
--> http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000075/thread/245808319, and
--> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2379713/board/thread/245808400

Anyway, here are the 21 contenders for the Big Prize:

01. 1953: Ian Fleming's "CASINO ROYALE" (chronology: 1951)

    Been a while since I've reread them, but here we go...

    12 points-Casino Royale
    10-Goldfinger
    8-On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    7-You Only Live Twice
    6-Thunderball
    5-Quantum of Solace
    4-The Living Daylights
    3-Dr. No
    2-Moonraker
    1-Risico

    Quantum has a personal resonance for me, hence it making the list, even though it's not really a Bond story, just Bond listening to one. I'm currently rereading From Russia With Love and 007 doesn't even show up till page 65 in my copy! I understand it's a favourite for many, but that's why it didn't make my list.
