I wonder if Richard Madden really wants the role and Citadel is his Layer Cake to an extent. Not in terms of comparing the show/film, but the one that makes the producers really consider him.

I think it looks too lightweight for that, though obviously I don’t know. Bodyguard I personally thought was stupid, but was successful enough critically and commercially to get people talking about him being Bond, I’m sure he’s already on Eon’s radar.

I think the Ezra Miller and Jonathan Majors scandals will mean Eon will put greater scrutiny into their candidates’ private behaviour, and that may mean that their choice will be shaped by things we’re unaware of and that don’t have to do with the qualities the performer has on-screen.

Same with DC’s wrist cutting comments. I hope even Barbara told him that was wrong.

Even as someone who thought (and still thinks) Craig’s comments were a poor choice of words, comparing him to Ezra Miller (A Cult Leader who may or may not have been grooming children), and Jonathon Majors (Accused of Abusing Multiple Women) is a step too far. Craig just made a bad joke. The other two actors are just genuinely bad people if all those rumors about them are true.

There really isn’t. Plus everyone brings up Craig’s interview and points to it as being damming evidence on why we shouldn’t enjoy his Bond, but completely ignore Sean Connery’s interview with Barbara Walters where he expresses how a woman should be hit with an open hand. Does this mean we have to stop enjoying Connery’s Bond?

Or that Connery famously hated playing Bond by YOLT and wanted out, and wasn't exactly disguising his feelings with the press either. Something Craig never did.

Or how during production of YOLT, Harry Saltzman came down with some type of infection (Mumps I believe), which caused half of his face to swell up as a result, and Connery was reported as saying “Good I hope it happens to the other half of his face.” If Craig said that, people would’ve been burning an effigy of him.

I heard that Cubby is soooo in love with that big muscly Scotsman that he's actually going to dump Lazenby and pay Connery the highest wage for an actor ever. Can you believe it?? Even though Connery said how much he hates Bond!! I hope his daughter is more professional when she takes over.
  • Can you believe how infatuated Cubby was with Roger Moore? Their deep and intimate games of Backgammon created just such a beautiful love between the both of them, so much so that Cubby overlooked his preference for “younger actors” and stayed with Roger until he was 58. I can only hope his daughter turns out to be as classy he was.

That would be great if she showed that much loyalty and connection to her lead, and showed how she believed that she’d made the right choice, wouldn’t it? Seems unlikely though.

I’d hate to disappoint you all but my sources are indicating that Barbara Broccoli actually is done making James Bond movies. That’s why she killed Bond off in NTTD. She made it so that there is absolutely no way to bring Bond back, because she was so in love with Daniel Craig that she felt there is NO Bond after Craig. He’s DEAD. She’s sick of making these movies, she wants to continue making more personal movies. She’s just going to throw away everything her father made, and throw away everything she’s done for the Bond films. Sorry everyone, I guess it’s time to stop being a James Bond fan.

Yeah that's why she's already been quoted about pondering the next iteration and where to take the character next... try to troll harder!

She’s clearly just saying that to deflect any negative publicity. I’m afraid the only thing she’s pondering currently is who she can sell the series to. Her family’s legacy (besides the import of the vegetable seed to America), just carelessly thrown away. How sad…

That’s all for me because I can’t troll any harder than that.

Both Villeneuve and Waller-Bridge are very competent filmmakers and I really hope they will be directing Bond 27 and Bond 28. But Bond 26 MUST be written and directed by the great Christopher Nolan. EON has a once in a lifetime opportunity to get him on board now.

I won't be against this. Have a plan, EON. And no Purvis and Wade! Barbara is arguably more loyal to them than she was ever with Craig.

The Bond actor I liked least was probably the one who would have proved most agreeable around. My favorite Bond mostly likely the most disagreeable. How actors act off screen and what they say is immaterial to my feelings about their films.

Don't dismiss ClassicBondFan so casually. Everything I keep observing lines up with this being a very good possibility. We ignore the signs at our own peril.
  • I mean for me I was just making jokes, I don’t really try and speculate what EON does behind the scenes. I doubt Barbara Broccoli is actually contemplating selling the brand.

If Barbara Broccoli wanted to sell off the Bond series right after NTTD, it would have already happened. MGM would then have full control and probably mishandle Bond 26, jeopardizing the new Bond actor’s future in the role.

Kind of like how Alicia Vikander’s run as Lara Croft was cut short after just one film.

Although weren't they dropped after SF and only brought back well into SP when John Logan 'hit a wall' with his script and couldn't satisfy the demands for more and more re-writes from the Sony and MGM execs? I remember my heart sinking when I first heard they'd been re-hired... ;)

Judging by Skyfall though, getting them in first and then getting Logan to rewrite was the best way around! I guess they did what they could but it had almost too many ideas to pull together. They even reduced the amount that the MI6 guys were involved, so anyone complaining about the 'Scooby gang' should thank them it wasn't worse! :)

Lots of fun stuff in there though. I didn't know that the Spectre meeting was to feature a bucket of eyeballs being thrown over the table at one point!

It warms my heart that Eon is largely loyal to their production crew, except for David Arnold. :))

I like Newman’s and Zimmer’s scores more than Arnold’s, so it’s win for me.

I don't prefer Zimmer's- I almost have no opinion on it to be honest; but I do prefer Newman's, yes.
  • I like Arnold’s scores for the Craig era. Not so much for the Brosnan era because they feel a bit too generic for my tastes.

‘Generic’ was the signature of the Brosnan era. They went for the safe choice every time to get the maximum audience because the franchise needed it at the time. I find most of those films bland, but they probably gave Eon the leeway to take risks later with C.R.

That’s the number one thing that worries me about Bond movies going forward. Having Purvis and Wade write them in ANY capacity. The one thing that saddens me about Daniel Craig is that he never got a Bond script not written by them.
