    And yes, Connery was awesome. Well, in most of the films he did.

    Thanks, yeah I am quite a fan of spy movies and that kind of stuff, and I heard about Sean Connery as James Bond and thought that he was cute, so it started there.
    Then I ended up enjoying that style of movies a lot.

    Of course, some scenes in Sean Connery's movies would be problematic if they happened in real life, such as that part with Dink, or some of the more violent ways that he treats some of the Bond girls;
    however, this works as movie scenes, and it sort of emphasises the "cold" and "dangerous" part of James Bond.
    There are also a lot of scenes with Sean Connery that would work great in real life as well, such as his introduction scenes together with Sylvia Trench:
    the way that he confidently interacts with her at the casino, and moves things forward, is superb!

    I think Connery has an intensity in his early Bond films that few actors can match.

    I’m willing to bet they’ll wait until the dust settles from the Indy, M:I, Oppenheimer summer blockbuster season before making any announcements regarding B26.

    Still hopeful we get a director announcement in the fall around James Bond Day.

    Honestly I'm starting to hope they just hand everything over to nolan and let him get this show on the road. It's been almost 2 years since Bond 25, unless they get someone with a strong vision and a track record with huge scale storytelling I feel like we could be stuck in limbo for another 2 - 4 years. Nolan is NOT my first choice, but I'd if its a choice between new bond film in July 2026 or EON finally getting around to it sometime in November of 2027, I'm picking the former. I think as fans we need to learn to be less picky as time goes on. Bond is a 60 year old franchise, not every decision they make can be perfectly what we would want, but as they say perfect IS the enemy of good. And Christopher Nolan, inspite of his flaws, is definitely a "good" filmmaker. Importantly, he can put together a huge tentpole spectacle film in just 3 years from start to finish, and that's crucial when we're staring down the barrel of another 6+ year gap between bonds.

    They owe us everything. Without the fandom, a 60 year old continuous series would never exist.

    That being said, I do agree about fan entitlement being the worst aspect of fandom. And I do agree on patience.

    I just hate the argument that they don’t owe us everything. They would be the first to say otherwise, I’m sure.

    If they decided to stop making Bond films for good, that’s their right. You would only have to wait for a decade to see the copyright expire anyway.

    I don't think the trademark on 'James Bond' would though, unless they chose to. But I do agree, they owe us nothing, they don't have to make films. I've paid for the ones I've seen, I haven't paid anything to watch the next one yet so I'm not owed it. If they need to take their time then that's their prerogative, and as you say, the strike presumably stops any progress now as it's a mainly American production.

    I suppose that’s true. But why would they? They have descendants who love making these movies and have been groomed to do so. And they still get a kick out of it. Despite NTTD’s hill written ending, this doesn’t feel like a tired franchise, mostly thanks to their policies on time, logistics and big screen exclusivity.

    So, I’d say we will have new films at some point, EON’s new films. A 5 years wait isn’t too long. It happened before. Let’s just wait and see.

    And if it upsets anyone that they have to wait a mere four years for another movie, that’s their problem, not Eon’s. Those fans deserve to feel resentful and unappreciated.

    In a way, there's so much naff spy action rubbish cluttering up the streamers at the moment (Ghosted, Gray Man, Citadel, Fubar, Night Agent, some new Gal Gadot thing... etc. ) that it's maybe a good time to rest Bond for a short while as there may be some audience tiredness setting in with the whole thing. Mission Impossible is the only decent spy thing out there at the moment, let that wipe these cheap knock-offs out and then come back in a big fashion when folks are hungry.

    Does anyone else hates it when people compare Bond to spy stuff like Ghosted, Gray Man, Citadel, Fubar, ... And even to M:I. I mean, Bond is supposed to be a spy thriller, not an action-americanised-spy-stravaganza-kim-possible-spy kids-tactical gear-true lies-Kingsman kind of nonsense. It's meant to be a stylish affair like no other. I do understand the need to put it all in the same bag, as it were, but it irks me to no end. And I do agree with you, @mtm, space between those things and Bond is a good thing. Take your time, EON, just make it count.

    Personally, and I know this goes against the grain with some fans, I prefer my Bond to be closer to Tinker Tailor than to Soldier Spy, if you catch my drift.

    You can't blame fans for wanting more of something and to have less of a wait for it but if the gaps mean that EON have got more time to produce a better film, the series will benefit in the long run - which means that we will too. So while we might not be 'happy' with a four-year gap, most of us are probably prepared to wait it out. Delayed gratification and all that.

    Have you though? After KOTCS it was never confirmed that there would ever be another Indy film. But like most Indy fans, I think many of us are happy to see him back one last time.

    If you look at the past breaks in the Bond series, it generally results in a great, and well received Bond film.
    TSWLM - a three year break after TMWTGG.
    GE - a six year break after LTK.
    CR - a four year break after DAD.

    I think it's more than probable we're looking at a lengthier break than some fans would like, before we see Bond 26 hit the big screens.
    Patience is a virtue after all.

    Patience is a virtue sure, and fan entitlement can be frustrating, but EON is a business first and foremost. To suggest they owe fans nothing is a bit inaccurate because at the end of the day, this franchise has gone strong for 60 years due to its fans, while the argument could be made that other franchises have fizzled out due to heavy fan backlash. So I don’t think EON has that kind of mentality at all, especially when this year they dropped a remaster of Goldeneye, which everyone had been asking for decades. I also think the implication that EON has been doing nothing but sitting around since NTTD’s release is also a bit far fetched. I’m sure they’ve been having discussions behind the scenes about where to take the series, all while planning all that 60th anniversary events, and that’s a lot on their hands. At this rate, I’d buckle in because I doubt we’ll see Bond 26 before 2026.
