As for Bond, I imagine that they are definitely planning something. Either way if Nolan is directing, he probably just has a few ideas at this point. In the meantime, it’s fun to speculate.
That's why I add the caveat that only if EON and Amazon are really really adamant about getting a film out in 2025. I don't think Nolan or Cuaron or Villeneuve would jump into a project like Bond with only a few months before filming starts, and I don't think EON would take the risk of them walking away and creating another fiasco like Boyle did. That's why I say IF they are keen to get a film out soon, given its already been 2 years since Bond 25 released, then I think Campbell is likely to be high on the list of choices, because he knows how EON operates and has a track record of working efficiently within that system (same with Mendes).
EDIT: I checked, Campbell has stated that he is open to returning to do another Bond film.
I understand your point. But I don't think they are in any hurry or keen to release a film out in 2025. I think first of all they want to set the James Bond franchise ready for its next chapter (contemporary interpretation of the James Bond character, new actor for the iconic role) over the next 10 - 15 years. This will make sure to keep the franchise alive. Next focus will be on getting as much profit as possible out of each film. The reboot is crucial so they will take all the time they need. As soon as they are allowed to go on after the strike.
Didn't he do that with Casino Royale?
I'd be more than happy to see Martin Campbell return for a third Bond film, but considering he's in his 80th year is it likely?
That’s what I mean with Campbell and CR. It was a Bond origin story, like Horowitz and FAAD. I think the series could do with a different director than someone from DC’s run.
1. Nolan works faster than EON does.
2. He would not need to jump into Bond 26 only a few months before filming starts for them to release it in 2025. Nolan could jump in in the next few months, filming could start in late 2024 and the premiere could be held in late 2025.
So if EON were absolutely adamant that the film needed to be released in late 2025, that would be an argument for Nolan, not against him.

"Now, an insider has revealed the British actor, 33, is extremely close to landing the role, with Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan, 53, looking likely to helm the next film in the franchise.
The insider said: ‘Aaron Taylor-Johnson is currently the hot favorite to step into the iconic role, he’s the first choice for Barbara Broccoli – he is the one to beat.’
They added of Nolan: ‘He is extremely interested in doing something very different with the franchise. If he can get his way with producers, then he is all for it.’"
Please try again, @Mendes4Lyfe .
If ATJ is the guy who almost has the role, during an actor’s strike, when there have been no auditions, then I’ll enjoy eating my hat, with a dollop of ketchup.
The next 007 will not be cast by coronation.
EDIT: @Mendes4Lyfe :
“Over a dataset of 1,000 articles, the Daily Mail scored an average Factual Grade of 39.7%. This is well below the average of 61.9% for all 240 news sources that we analyzed. This places the site in the 1st percentile of our dataset — it scored the third-lowest of any news source.”
Oh, come on! You know that the rumour is that he auditioned before the end of November 2022, 8 *months* before the SAG strike started! https://www.thesun.co.uk/tv/20563304/aaron-taylor-johnson-james-bond/
Obviously, this rumour can be very easily wrong, but as long as we are discussion ATJ, the argument cannot be that "it's impossible for him to be the frontrunner because there is an ongoing SAG strike".
As for the Daily Mail's credibility, I thoght we learned during the Baz Bamigboye years that when it comes to movie news, they should not be immediately dismissed.
He didn’t audition before the SAG strike. He didn’t shoot the gun barrel, @Colonel_Venus .
I’m not saying he won’t be Bond, but he has to audition first.
And the Daily Mail no longer has Baz; he went to a reputable media outlet in Deadline Hollywood, if I’m not mistaken (and with him went all “insider “ scoops).
It's anything to put off the day we have someone besides Daniel Craig in the tux, I fear... :-SS
On a serious note, ATJ still being linked to the part is great news for nolans chances, as they have worked together and ATJ is probably on his list of choices.
I think what we have learnt though, just from the rumours being spread, is that most of the general audience would be happy with it.
Your presumptions @Mendes4Lyfe are way off the mark.
You should move on from your obsession with Daniel Craig.
As I’ve asked you before: please read others posts three times before commenting.
My reply wasn’t about Craig, but about another “inside” source of the Daily Mail.
ATJ hasn’t auditioned.
He didn’t shoot the gun barrel.
The Daily Mail isn’t credible.
And I’m not saying ATJ won’t get the role (I personally don’t think he will), but he has to audition first.
How you pull this to make any comparison to Daniel Craig, is silly and grasping at straws (because I’m not saying something that fits with the narrative you want to hear ).
Anyone remember when the gunbarrel featuring ATJ was set to be unveiled in March?
I’m old enough to remember Baz’s scoops about Pierce’s second film being called ‘Aquator’ and/or (believe it or not) ‘Avatar’.
I remember Aquator and Avatar being rumored titles. I also remember Beyond the Ice for DAD.
I doubt one single actor has even auditioned yet, unless this has all been going on in absolute top secret while the strike was on, in which case there would have been many that had auditioned, not just one actor.
Not buying this crap from the Daily Fail.
Well they have (the press) always loved to speculate who the next Bond will be. ATJ is a plausible candidate, so they've run with him. Doesn't matter that their story is false, obviously their source got it wrong at the end of the day.
To quote Bond in TND, 'they'll print anything these days,'
