No film this size is ever the result of one or two people calling the shots. These are collaborative efforts involving many minds, hands and creative decisions. Broccoli and Craig alone did not make or break SP and NTTD. Writers, editors, producers (plural), cast, composer, cinematographer, technicians, ... all have something to do with it. The stubborn notion that a smitten "Babs" and a too cynical, too powerful Craig are, alone, responsible for the outcome of the recent two films, sadly persists.

If she was "Robert Broccoli", the narratives that exist about her devotion/fealty to Craig would not exist. It is unfortunate.

Oh im not saying that. Im just saying that out of all the Bond actors no one had more power than Craig. Good for him if he had that power. He knows his value.

Well, she has bigger balls than most of us. She cast Craig in the first place.

In that big Variety interview with Dan, BB, MGW and Fukunaga from December 2021, Craig said that he was contracted for four films. So he was out of contract after SP.

Gotcha. He was probably under a similar deal Brosnan was under.

Yeah, I think that’s the deal they all get now - 3 contracted films with the option of a fourth. That’s why Broccoli has said it’s a ten year commitment at least.

When a Bond actor has an option of a 4th movie in their contract. Do both sides have to say yes to it? what if the actor wants to do it but the producers dont?

Barbara Broccoli once said that Dan wasn't sure how many films he'd signed up for and when he asked her, she said four - but with hindsight 'I should've said nine!'

I do think Barbara let Craig have too much power when it came to his last 2 movies. I still to this day don't really know how Craig’s contracts for his bond movies were. Like was his first three films locked in when he first signed in 2005 and then his last two were on a film by film bases? I think whoever the new Bond is needs to get locked down to at least four movies.

In one of Craig's recent interviews (I can't remember where) he said that it was Barbara who pushed him forward and made him personally go to the various department heads when there were questions, concerns, etc. during his breaks. No wonder he was exhausted.
