Any chance of a stealth Bond film suddenly being announced that’s already been shot? A bit like when Ghiostbusters Afterlife trailer was released when no one knew a film even in production . How cool would be that be? Pipe dream I know.

Technically, the movie was not in production as filming began six months after that teaser came out.

Fair point. But I’d love a pre teaser teaser in the vein of Brosnans for Goldeneye “were you expecting anyone else?”

That was a full teaser with clips from the film though. A teaser of just that sort of thing we actually kind of had for NTTD when they did the title reveal clip on social media:

Let's hope we get a huge Bond 26 announcement this year. Possibly writers/director.

Dear Mods: Time for some housekeeping. Can we please have a separate thread for those who to wish to discuss how long it's been since the last Bond film and for those who aimlessly speculate about when the next film might come out. Neither addresses where Bond goes after Craig.

    Great idea for a thread.

If this is not appropriate to this thread it can be moved. It's pertaining to Bond 26...
Campbell is quick to shoot down any rumors that he’s on a short-list to possibly helm Bond 26, but the Casino Royale director is not so fast to dismiss the general possibility of taking on another 007 assignment in the future, be it the next movie or some later franchise entry. Speaking to ScreenRant for the release of his new action film Cleaner, Campbell addressed whether he’s game to return to the Bond universe one more time:

Yeah, I wouldn't say no. The point is that I love Bond. Bond is something I grew up with, right? Way back to Dr. No, when I took my mother to see it. And Bond is, always for me, an event picture. The point is, when I used to see Bond, it was an event. And that's what's so great about them. The budgets are big, the action's terrific, and the character's terrific.

He's up for a third Bond film. 😉

The Campbell Bond trilogy has a nice ring to it, eh? :-?

Funnily enough I rewatched The protege the other day, and I think along with The Forienger they are two of the best thrillers I've seen that were released in the last 10 years.

It makes a lot of sense to me to have Campbell return for his third new Bond introduction in a row, especially if he's up for it. I've said it a million times but the man simply gets Bond, regardless of the weakness of his non-Bond output.

I don't think he can make a movie like Casino Royale. Plus, I don't think it's a good idea to try.

I'd take a third Campbell film at this point, seeing as how every other modern Bond director has missed the mark in some way.

I dunno, I see the appeal of Campbell kickstarting a trilogy of new Bonds and he obviously delivered the first two times but, sad to say, Dirty Angels was pretty flat, generic and a bit old-fashioned, tbh. If you didn't know it was Campbell would you really want the director of that to do B26? It's not that it was bad, more that it was, I dunno, middling. It's often said that MC raises his game when it's Bond and, on the basis of Dirty Angels, he really would have to. Don't get me wrong - it'd be great if he had one more in him, but I think the time for that might've gone. Sadly.

I can take or leave Campbell. The key to Bond films is that they're collaborative and have many different talents going into them. The director is one piece of that, and Campbell understands these films, even if he's made some duds recently. He seems to have a good relationship with EON which is a plus. On the other hand if another director is on EON's radar who could potentially do something really interesting, I'd say go for them.

Campbell was always hit-and-miss outside of Bond, but to me that doesn't matter. He gets both Bond as a character and how the movies are supposed to work, and that's what matters. Aside from Wait Until Dark, how many of Terence Young's non-Bond movies made a splash?

Honestly, I think Campbell could direct Bond in his sleep even at 83. Yes, it is certainly intense making one of these movies, but it's just such a good fit and the relationship with Barbara and Micheal is so strong. It's a mutually beneficial arrangement, we already know that EON aren't going to let anyone mess with their baby and Campbell is a safe pair of hands.

Imagine the next Bond trailer has "from the director of Goldeneye and Casino Royale".

Young made some Charles Bronson movies (the Liam Neeson of the 70's) but he didn't come back to Bond. He didn't even make NSNA.

Guy Hamilton made Remo Williams in the 80's. Could he have made TLD? I don't want to know.

Rather bizarrely Lewis Gilbert had some of the biggest success before and after his time directing three of the biggest and often seen as the most over the top Bond films.

I don’t think many Bond fans would oppose to the return of Martin Campbell.
I guess it depends how long it takes for the planets to align.

Sadly, after his pink performance @ whatever award, I'm sorry to announce that Thimothe Chalamet is now OUT!

Regardless of whatever that means, he was never in to begin with.

Seems that Chalamet wore pink clothing to the Berlin premiere of 'A Complete Unknown'

    I'm guessing that's what @Stamper is referring.

Just rewatched Licence To Kill and I still really like the seaplane sequence, where Dalton's Bond is so happy and smiles at the sight of money. I would like Bond 7 to smile that way in Bond 26.

Yeah, I think they pushed the vulnerable hero shtick about as far as they can (the Craig era was the story of how Bond lost everything), time for a bit more swagger and bravado from the worlds greatest super spy.

Regardless of Chalamet, why should something like this exclude an actor from certain future roles?
  • By the time Bind 26 goes into production Chalemet will probably be in his 6os

No one who wears pink can ever play Bond.
