    @Gustav_Graves

    Oh, I'm not so sure that it was impossible to film the Fleming stories OHMSS and YOLTW in chronological order of their publications. ''Impossible'' is a strong word. I think the producers wanted to go big, which was YOLT, after which , when Peter Hunt was promoted to director, they chose to go more intimate and grounded, which was OHMSS. I have strong affections for both, especially OHMSS, but let's not kid about the fact that there is a really funky continuity bug in there.

    As a long standing Bond fan, I've come to accept the continuity hiccups of the films. They don't rustle my feathers like with some people. They're a little strange sometimes, but I can live with them.

    With respect to continuity in the Daniel Craig era, I also appreciate the producers' willingness to adhere to a more rigid structure. I think it's kind of cool. We're in an age when fan bases have so many more platforms (like the MI6 community discussion boards) to chat and over-analyze the films that a part of me believes McG and Babs clued in on the fact that with this new iteration of the character, they might want to consider taking continuity a bit more seriously than their predecessors did. it makes the Craig era a little more epic than it otherwise would have been and excites the fans. I mean, who didn't go apesh*t when Mr. White showed up in the teaser trailer?

    Lastly, on the topic of what to do with said continuity following Craig's retirement from the role, I see no reason why the producers would reboot things all over again. Why go through the troubles of rebooting it all again considering the monumental success the new iteration has attained? SP would have to be catastrophically bad, critically and box office-wise, for Wilson and Broccoli to actually contemplate the idea of rebooting yet again. Why wouldn't they want to continue the timeline with the wind so strongly in their sails?

    OHMSS was initially supposed to be the 4th film, but was pushed back so they could accommodate McClory and give him his producer credit, in the hope he'd be out of their hair... Then they intended to do it as Connery's 5th, but the warm winter in the Alps forced them to look elsewhere again, so they turned to YOLT. They've never really been too preoccupied with continuity.

    That's what I mean. If all that legal shit surrounding "Thunderball" and "Casino Royale" didn't took place, we perhaps would have had a more chronologically sound adaptation of Fleming's novels. Hence why I say it was impossible, due to all these legal battles, to really focus on the chronology of the novels in order of appearance.

    That problem....is finally solved.

    I think it's really interesting how the producers picked and chose which novels to adapt first. Certainly JFK had a lot to do with FRWL being adapted early, and they did tend to go with the more recent novels first...

    Yes, I was backing up what you meant about the logistical problems. It's certainly not a stretch to imagine a world where OHMSS rolled into YOLT if it hadn't been for McClory and the need for location shooting. The other thing to consider is how faithfully they'd have been adapted. Had OHMSS been 4th or 5th I doubt we'd have seen a film as unique as we got and, sadly, I don't think we'd ever have seen a faithful YOLT.

    I think......it could be a marvellous idea for a 5th film with Daniel Craig wouldn't you say? In the meanwhile travelling really caught up with us. So I think it's very well possible to find a 'Garden Of Death'.

    I wrote a speculative treatment for a 5th featuring the 'Garden Of Death'. It's got the best PTS you'll never see!

    I once wrote an entire PTS for an exciting Bond film that is themed around Formula One racing. I even let @DoubleONothing read it. Thought was exciting :-). Until I discovered "Murder On Wheels", and until Anthony Horowitz actually used this car racing as a setting for his "Trigger Mortis".

    By the way.....did you ever send this treatment to EON at Piccadilly?

    No. I have a long term plan, but I wouldn't send treatments to EON just yet. This is purely a spec treatment which I keep in the portfolio. My aim is to get something in with them at some point, but it's a bit of mugs game. I'm monitoring many channels, though.

    As long as you don't write the DB5 into it.
