It's a discussion forum. We are fans. As lifelong fans or not even lifelong fans we can voice opinions.

Sorry @GG some of us ..whom are just as devoted fans have just as much right to be disappointed even angry at the direction of the series.

Like I have said I'm a Bond fan. I want to enjoy Bond as much as SW or Indy or whomever...

Besides @GG your complaining JJ ruined Star Trek just like some are complaining Mendes ruined Bond. Does that make you less a Trek fan?

You know I hated to see you go @GG and have been very complimentary and appreciative of what you have contributed to this forum but if your going to come back and just insult fans whom don't share your opinions then don't bother. That's a slap in the face.

Come onnn. You call it "insulting". But you know better. I do not mean it as an insult. And you miss my point really. What if I replaced the wording "spoiled ass-holes" with "spoiled fans" or "unhappy fans"? Call me an autist, but I don't see the difference. Don't blindstare on wordings please. My point doesn't change.

I never meant to hurt people. I honestly believe some of the people in here need to tone down a bit. And I really mean that. Lastly, there's room for interpretation. But that room for interpretation is entirely gone if I insult one particular person directly. And I have never done that. I have never personally insulted you. I have never said: "@McDonbb you are a spoiled asshole!".

I'm also slightly disappointed in you now, if I may speak freely. I think Sam Mendes is being treated like complete, vile dogshit in here. So I couldn't care less if Sam Mendes decides not to lend his vocals for a proper commentary audio track on the new BluRay release.

Fair enough. That was just my first gut response to your post but it hit me hard enough I had to respond.

I enjoy commentaries especially the director's commentary. It's insightful. Even if I don't agree still gives me a chance to understand where the filmmaker was going most of the time.

Thanks for responding to my comment. We said how we felt. No worries.

P.S. I'm glad your back and no I don't really want you to go. Just hit me wrong.

And it keeps going on. In every topic, that is not related to the quality, the story, the reviews of " SPECTRE", sooner or later discussions turn into bashing sessions of the films vs. hailing sessions of the film.

@Gustav_Graves I don't understand how you can complain about people bashing Mendes, SF or SP, when you yourself can not stop bashing the Brosnan era at every opportunity, even when his films are not relevant to the current disucssion. The frequency of your Brosnan negativity is equal to the frequency of the negativity of Mendes/SF/SP. If we remove your comments about Mendes and his films, you are one of the most negative members about the franchise on this forum.

So if you have a problem with people's negative comments about Mendes, I have a problem with your constant negativity about the Brosnan era.

And before you respond: I greatly enjoy both SF, SP.

That's fantastic @DaltonCraig007! I know it took some time for you to warm to parts of the Craig era. What's your view of it in full up to this point? I know you're a big fan of the classic Bond so I'm sure the reintroduction of the old MI6 team helped SF and SP immensely in your eyes.

Then you failed to take into account that TWINE is my favorite Brosnan-film. And it saddens me that you did not read that. It saddens me enormously that you fail to take into account that I LOVED Sophie Marceau's emotionally deep performance of Elektra King. A character that, for me, is one of the highlights of the franchise.

Moreover, check the kind of topics I have created. I'm quite flabbergasted that you dare to call me "one of the most negative members". And please go back on-topic. Have a look at the pictures I made of my steelbook collection, INCLUDING that beautiful steelbook of "GoldenEye"!

@0BradyM0Bondfanatic7 You know my favorite Bond is Moore, that I grew up with Brosnan as Bond and was introduced to the franchise by Brosnan's films, and the 4 Craig films are the only ones I've had the pleasure of seeing at the cinema. For me the Craig era is fantastic. Even though I may prefer 'Bourne Ultimatum' and 'Rogue Nation' to SF, his era as a whole is far above the Bourne trilogy and M:I franchise. CR is a masterstroke, one of the best movie going experience in my life. QOS is a no nonsense highly entertaining film, SF is highly intelligence, serious and modern take on Bond and his world, and SP is the Craig version of a good old Brosnan/Moore fun escapade.

@Gustav_Graves, really, we get it. You've got an answer for everything and we are all wrong for thinking otherwise. Some of us simply don't like being roped together with this crowd of ingrates you have imagined a chunk of the forum to be, and though you aren't directing attacks at any particular person, your sweeping comments that could refer to anyone truly don't do you any favors in the eyes of many.

Clearly there's going to be no point where any of us see eye to eye on this, and that's fine; it's the nature of debate. I would simply ask that we could for once have discussions that don't after a while stoop to cursing and name-calling. It isn't hard to debate with someone professionally and courteously, but it appears that skill set is lacking here at very important times. There's enough tension around the forums already without more unnecessary fires being raised and fed. It seems the climate now for members to viciously berate each other for everything from their views on Bond down to their religion, political views and how they take their eggs in the morning. It's honestly exhausting and past its sell-by date.

I nor any others here meant to cast aspersions of any kind towards you; we are simply giving our side of this argument over the negativity some seem to have of Mendes. Again, I do not prescribe to that notion, though I am also not so blind that I do not see his flaws, and I shan't be lambasted for it.

Yes, I think SP is as close to a Moore styled Bond film we have, though I don't necessarily mean in its use of levity. The ending in MI6 recalls TMWTGG, the train fight with Hinx reminds me of the one between Bond and Jaws in TSWLM and Bond's style sometimes even calls back to that of Moore. This is helped by the love both Dan and Mendes clearly have for LALD and much of the Moore era, which they have expressed many times before.

All I wanted to say to everyone is this:

"Guys, look on the bright side. We Bond fans still get offered so many wonderful insightful things. Perhaps we should be a bit more grateful for that. And perhaps this should also be channeled a bit more on the forums".

Sorry.....that this didn't come across like I wished. Have fun everyone ;-).

Woah boy. You move out for a couple of months, and....NOTHING CHANGES!! :D

The reason people slag off Mendes and SP and SF and Brozzer and Moore and DAD and everything Bondion is because TAHT'S WHAT WE DO. Bond fans care so they pull stuff apart, and if it doesn't sit well with the next Bond fan it's because they care as well.

Casual fans went to see SP and they said 'I enjoyed that more than SF' or 'I preferred SF' or 'I hate Craig' or whatever and then they forget about it for 2 or 3 years.

    We don't.

We argue amongst ourselves and take offence if others don't agree. It's because we all like the same thing, but we just happen to like the elements of that thing in a different order.

No one should be upset, or leave the forum. Somewhere on here there are like minded people for all of us.

Loved SP by the way...is this the right thread?

I do wish the school yard language was dialed back a bit, as there are probably younger fans who might be a tad offended by such things. Moving on...

I'm curious where do the fans here buy their Bond films when they're released? In the U.S., Target(a national big box store) normally does their releases on a Tuesday(Feb. 9th) and I'd rather pick it up there, than waiting for an Amazon to deliver a couple days later. As the market is going more on-line for viewing movies, Target has scaled back their av departments. When Casino Royale was released, Target had 3 or 4 posters, keychains of the Aston Martin and the New Holland front loader alongside. I'll be there first thing to see what else is available.

It's always Wal-Mart for me, @FLeiter, or a video store in the one mall about twenty minutes away from me. I live in a very sparse, rural area and have to go a little out of the way for a lot of purchases of this kind, and often have to settle for what's there, like Wal-Mart as previously stated. They've got really good bargains in their entertainment department a lot of the time, so it's an easy choice.

I have shied away from online ordering simply because the shipping costs can be beyond torturous and insufficient care is often taken with packages on the move. I very much like to pick something out myself and bring it with my own hands to the register.

So is that gunshot steelbook all but confirmed at this point? Wow, what a shame, doesn't get much more generic than that. Then again, all the other covers I've seen are wildly uninspired, as well, so thankfully I'm buying it for the film itself and not to display the case at all. I had hopes for a steelbook of the IMAX poster.

@Creasy47, most of the recent steelbooks have covers based around the title designs, so it'd been cool if SP's steelbook got a cover with visuals taken right from its title sequence. The shot of Bond surrounded by women and tentacles would've been cool, or the bit where he and Madeleine meet underneath a massive octopus. Ah well.

Yes, all of the SPECTRE themed Bond films have. Plus the three Craig films. Bit put out that they haven't released a steelbook with cover art from Kleinman's superb main titles. Hopefully when Craig is done with the role, they will do this.

I didn't expect a steelbook that would closely resemble the title sequences, as God knows they cannot manage one equally-balanced collection outside of the box sets (which, obviously, will never be complete, either), but they could've done much, much, MUCH better than an all-black gunshot on glass with the title.
