Did Daniel Craig age some?

I was cleaning up my collection of external Hard Drives and I found this video of Daniel Craig official introduction as James Bond.

The quality is not very good since it was made in 2005 but from looking at it, did Daniel age a bit between the time he was announced as James Bond (the video date is October 2005) and the time he filmed the movie?

His face looks much younger and smoother in this video than in Casino Royale.

I think that's because his hair was longer and he hadn't built himself up so it can seem that he is younger.

All people age. It's a fact of life.

Excellent @j7wild, I haven’t seen that for ages. Craig doesn’t have the “Bond walk TM” yet…

I don't think he has aged at all. He was a good looking man in CR and QoS, and still is. He is in great physical shape as well.

He has aged.... in a good way. He seems much more mature now. Maybe the military haircut in CR didn't help, but he's been ageing good since CR, and even since QOS.

Keeping yourself healthy makes a huge difference. There was a subtle aging to Connery in the first four Bond films but the change from TB to DAF is incredible. The biggest thing that hurt him was that you could see the weight gain in his face - that ages someone way more than a looser-fitting toupee...

In fact, the first time I saw a Bond film was a double feature of GF and DAF on TV when I was 11 or 12. Funny but true fact - myself and all the guys at school thought that it was a different actor in DAF! We thought they got a guy who was imitating Connery; we couldn't understand why they didn't keep the cool guy from GF!

I can notice that he is older, but he is still good to play the part.

He's arguably in better shape now than CR.

You know you're right, from DN-TB, Connery doesn't look very different at all, and then once YOLT rolls around, he's picked up some extra flab and wrinkles, and by DAF, well like you said, he's barely recognizable! Good thing he had that turn-around once NSNA came out, otherwise he would have been totally unconvincing in the role by 1983.

Craig is working hard at staying in great shape. He is aging, as all of us do, but for him he fits the Bond role so well and continues to age into it, like a perfect glove. He doesn't look much older, yet more mature. Really like fine wine, I think. He has at least 2 more Bond films in him for sure (and I do hope so).

As a long term Craig watcher Craig has looked this way from about 30. He is not a pretty boy. Never was. Never will be.

But thats to his advantage. He wont be judged on his looks like Zac Efron or Taylor Lautner. Robert Pattinson is beginning to age already.

Craig will be able to play lead roles into his seventies. I can see him playing Kings, generals, Emporers. He will turn into a successful character actor the way Connery did while still being able to do leading man roles.

And he has the talent to back it up.

Dan has more of the rugged good looks for sure. How I picture Bond instead of a pretty boy type.

I could really see Craig as Geordie Sharp, Irish SAS soldier from the Chris Ryan books. If they ever make a film based on those after Craig has retired as Bond then he could definetly do it. He has that rough, military look about him.

Good to see some of our old friends on this particular thread

I remember the day well when Craig was announced as Bond, I was a little indifferent to it, there was no spontaneous emotion, no pulses racing, I was eager to see what he could produce but I was far more anticipating of the Brosnan announcement in 1994. At the time, I was aware of Craig, most particularly of his Layer Cake appearance, but didn't know him as well as I do today, I think in retrospect, it was a fine decision, I was initially skeptical, as with a great deal of others, but for the most part, he has grown on me a little, better than Brosnan even I feel sometimes, but this year will be a big event for Craig and we're all eager to see what he can produce for Skyfall, it should be some movie I'm hoping..

Craig's look is an asset especially for Bond. To me his face hasn't changed, other than his hairstyle. Like @actonsteve said, he's looked the same for the last 14/15 years and it's a look that isn't going anywhere at least not for another 25/30 years. Basically, Craig can still look believable being Bond well into his 50s.

But will he be believable in action scenes in his 50's ? He won't be doing many Mollaka-chases when he's 54.

I don't know. Tom Cruise is 50 and he's still running around doing all sorts of crazy stuff. Liam Neeson is 60 and is credible as an action hero. Roger Moore was in his late 50s when he left the role and sure he was in a few films too many perhaps but he still looked relatively good at 50 and this is Roger Moore we're talking about, arguably the least convincing of all the Bonds.

I agree. Just with darker hair. The women I know for the most part really go for Craig's looks. All of them like his body for sure. He's very popular right now and puts butts in theater seats.

What Connery had that Craig has, is a certain animal magnetism type effect on women. That what these women I know also think about him. My Mom was crazy about Connery and used to say with him it wasn't just rugged good looks (he was not a pretty boy in her definition nor mine for that matter), it was that animal magnetism, the way he moved and walked, he was just as she would say "all man" and that's why she would indulge Dad because anything Connery was reason enough for her to go.

Moore was pushing it by FYEO, and looked way too old in AVTAK. I think the maximum age for Bond should be 50, 55 at the most.
