I'm, again, very very happy that "SPECTRE" gets such a wonderful release date. Just think of how "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" had to wait 2 months

Oh, I said LING LING QI to some Chinese I had dinner with last night and they all knew. I'm sure most have heard of 007 if you say it in Chinese. Some know when you say it in English.
Yeah, it was fantastic. Suddenly, I thought, damn, I can go and see this in 2 days time when I thought that I'd be waiting another week or two after the UK release! The first time was in Megabox on a smaller screen in Jeonju. The second time, in Seoul, on the big CGV screen. Looked better at CGV which is a newer cinema. I wonder if SPECTRE will be out in Korea on the same date as The UK.
I'd be quite interested to know which Bond fans have seen a new 007 flick for the first time in a country outside of their homeland. I was living in Denmark when I saw Goldeneye, Denmark again for Tomorrow Never Dies when I went back there for a holiday. QOS was in England, Skyfall in Korea and now Spectre in China.
Any takers?
China's open to Western films (most big Hollywood films are released here) but in terms of Skyfall, the Chinese government did want the stuff to do with Solange and her prostitution edited out, or so I read. They're not keen on the likes of certain websites such as You Tube, Google and Facebook (the latter of which I don't use) though.

To say that the Chinese government rolled out the red carpet was something of an understatement. In short, we were made to feel like visiting royalty.
One of my main enduring memories of this visit was turning out on my first evening there for a formal dinner, dressed in my best fitted tux, cummerbund, etc. and all the Chinese, dressed in their own formal dress, commenting... "Ahh... Chems Barnd, Chems Barnd.
It seems that those Chinese people knew their James Bond quite well. ;)
Haha that's exactly how a mainland chinese person would say it in english!

I see your point but I'm not sure if I'd quite go that far. The Chinese get English films with Chinese subtitles in mainstream cinema and they hear the name James Bond. Unless you are an American who goes to see Chinese films at film festivals, I don't think you will be seeing any Chinese films in mainstream cinemas. There were some Chinese people who knew "James Bond" when I said it in English. Also, James Bond is a huge, iconic fictional character. Jackie Chan is the name of an actor and Hollywood don't use his Chinese name.
For a 2.5hr film, if that was the only change, then it's ok I suppose.

Finally saw it in IMAX yesterday. Most enjoyable. I was pleasantly surprised. The humour wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I suppose it helped going in knowing that it was going to be more lighthearted and maybe that I saw DAD a couple of days before. :) I was relieved to discover that there weren't any one liners following Bond killing someone or blowing something up or at least I don't remember any.
I still would have preferred it to have been darker and more serious but the humour in this film was better written I felt than what was done with SF. My only other major gripe is that it was a shame that they didn't develop the two Bond girl's characters more and the villain's. I would have liked Bond to have stayed at the villain's headquarters for longer in the last half of the film too. Felt a bit rushed.
Not much plot but then Bond films have never been known for great plots. Overall, a good Bond film. I will see it again in a couple of weeks. Maybe then I will be able to decide as to whether I think it's better than SF. It's certainly better than QOS but CR is still my favourite Craig Bond film.

I was born in Shanghai China and now 28 years old. My first Bond film is TND in VCD format my father rent from the local store in 1998. It opened a wide door for me. Next one I watched was TB. The two different Bonds in their times are so cool that I became a fan immediately. Since then I have searched every corner of Shanghai to gather my own VCD collection, then evolved to DVD collection.
The first time 007 officially introduced to China is Casino Royale. I always remember the time I attended the premiere in Shanghai and met the cast on stage. Even if Daniel Craig was so far away and did not say a single word, I was a crazy boy down there in the seat. The time I saw the CR gun barrel on the silver screen it was like a dream come true.
OK my friends, feel free to ask me anything about China and 007 in China, I will try to explain everything I could. The pleasure will be all mine.

Here is the Spectre trailer with Chinese subtitle. The problem is, as a Chinese fan, you will always find subtitle is a miserable thing to look. Some translation are OK, but some are terrible
Interesting fact that I never get the chance to read Colonel Sun. It is too hard to find in China. But you can get plenty of Ian Flaming, John Gardener(my first read), Raymond Benson, Charles Higson...
