@Murdock, that, too, was my only complaint walking out of the cinemas: the reuse of the SF tracks was a bit distracting and threw me off. However, I can't complain about all of them, as I really enjoyed a certain track or two being replayed in key scenes. Amazing film.

I'm about to go in but while in the men's room I heard guys humming the Bond theme. That's awesome.

    ...everybody left pumped btw.

@Creasy47, The music enjoyed most was from the PTS. I was really moving to the beat. ;)

Just saw it, It's awesome. Not as good as CR in my opinion but I don't see all the criticism towards it. It was a ride, and a good one.

    Finally I've seen the film.

And I love it. Great film. Great fun. I had a blast, I never wanted it to end.

I just wish we could have seen
    Vesper's Interrogation Tape.

It was terrific! I'll review it in the spoilers section :P
  • I freaking loved it!!! Reuse of skyfall score is my only true gripe with it. This is ranking HIGH on my list.

I thought the tone of the film was a bit jarring compared to the rest of the Craig series, if Skyfall hadn't lightened the tone some it would've been whiplash. It seemed like Bond was never very serious, and the drama that was injected to the Bond universe in the Craig films was lost. Which is odd considering the personal plot for Bond, which wasn't very well developed anyway I suppose. I think I still enjoyed it better than Skyfall, but I miss the tone of the first two Craig films. I would rank the Craig films as CR, QOS, SP, SF. It's amazing that 2.5 hours wasn't long enough to tell the story properly, but I suppose it could be expanded if Bond 25 is a direct sequel continuing the story. I don't mind Mendes as a director necessarily, but Thomas Newman needs to go.

P.S. I wish I had seen the movie in IMAX because of the pre titles sequence. The helicopter fight would've been even more amazing.
  • Just saw it in the US. I know someone posted asking the country just to go against reviews.

    Quick takes:
    - OUTSTANDING PTS and main titles.
    - Craig as Bond is as cool as ever.
    - Walked out of the theater highly anticipating my second viewing, this time in IMAX.
    - Extremely fun, action pieces were great, some surprises and humor hit it home
    - supporting cast came through big as well
    - not exactly a 'finale', rather two smaller ones. I found myself thinking 'man, this could end right now' a few times near the end
    - Waltz was good. Hope he's back again. He'll, I may hear about this one, but I want Mendes/Craig back.
    - felt a bit fast paced and near let up

This is the Bond you know and the Bond of Craig coming together and making one hell of an entertaining piece. Naturally I walked out thinking it was fantastic and my #1 Bond film. Realistically I need another viewing but this was in my opinion a top 6 Bond film.

    8.3/10.

Just came back from my second showing. Still think of it as a feat of excellence for the Bond franchise. I wish I could say the same for the audience though. I didn’t get the impression they were blown away by it.

Just got back from an IMAX viewing and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I was unsure whether I was going to enjoy it but I really had a good time. It was a bit sloppy at times, but a good Bond romp nonetheless.

Also, Newman let me down again :(

Wow! I'm shocked! I absolutely loved the film. Did it drag a bit? Yes. Was the score great? Not all the time. But man, those 148 minutes flew by and I can't WAIT for Bond 25. Well done

Absolutely awesome ...forget the gripes. Oh and to those that whined no Bond theme in the film ...it's there but just done right.

Different than CR so I can't say which I like better. Certainly more smiles with SP.

This is not a 61% RT film and enjoyed way more than MI. And despite length it never dragged.

What a ride. Welcome back James.
  • I loved it but I found myself enjoying it less and less as it went on. PTS and the middle train sequence were the highlights. Like the other Craig films, I found the climax pretty lackluster, especially with how the main villain was played up.

I just can't believe this film is sitting in the low 60s on RT. I thought it was just spectacular

See I actually liked the climax ..Very simple. Bond is much more of a marksman in this film.

And don't shoot me. I liked the score.

I just knew this film was really going to split opinions hard. Seen so many that really liked/loved it and several that think it's disappointing and not so great.

Jesus Christ…I loved this movie. Can't wait to own it. Love the blatant attempts to insert humor early on. I can't even begin to analyze this right now. Yes! Loved it.

So. You guys love it too then. ;)

I've been on a high for over a week now and can't get enough of watching it. It gets better and better every viewing

My audience was lame too. Like they didn't know who the heck anyone was.

Film critics can piss off. Did they all turn into Armond effing White for this film? I just came from my screening. Blown away. Daniel Craig is the greatest James Bond of all time.

Same here! I was one of the only people clapping at the end and
the only two things that got a reaction were Hinx's death and M's "Now we know what C stands for" line.
Surprised almost no one got into it.

I just got back from the cinema, I had a...BLAST! A wonderful time, My eyes were glued to the screen the entire time, This is now my number 2 favorite Bond film. It had the perfect ingredients. My only criticism is Newman's score and distracting reuse of multiple tracks from Skyfall. A little more Bond theme would have been nice but those are two minor quibbles. I loved the film and was well worth the wait. It's a wonderful year to be a Bond fan.

Also on a random note, The theater I visited recently opened and reminded me of something Sir Ken Adam would design. A classy place with a classy film. Five stars, Best Spy film of 2015. Bond is back and going strong as ever.

    :-bd
    Glad you liked the film.

I saw it on Wednesday after having avoided all reviews & spoilers, and have to say it was the most fun I've had watching a Bond movie in a very long time.

EoN & co. have successfully delivered a 007 caper that blends the grit & austerity of the early Craig era with the elements that brought the 'funfactor' of the Moore-era.
  • Just seen the film last night and I really enjoyed it. I thought the PTS was brilliant, and that opening tracking shot was just amazing, everything about it to me was just so Bond. The title sequence for me was very good, however I enjoyed the titles for skyfall so much more. I hate that we have to compare this film to others but let's face it, these are Bond films and they're going to be subject to comparisons to their predecessors just like skyfall was compared to quantum. The best part about this movie is that we seen all the old Bondisms back that we missed in all of Craig's movies. Craig's confidence is just awesome and made me smile constantly as I was watching. A couple of reviews I watched after I seen SPECTRE made me realize that the sub plot in this movie was very Mission Impossible Rogue Nation.... Which I never thought of when I read other reviews that mentioned the sub plot but now I realize it is just like MI:RN! Only I feel MI did it better and I feel the stakes in that film felt higher. Idk i think for me the fact that the film was shot amazingly, the cast was brilliant, the classic Bondims are awesome, and the action was good, I just didn't find myself really interested by the plot. They try to go deeper into Bonds personal story but I just don't feel it and when you get the surprise, look who it is, I'm just like ok cool. I still enjoyed this film and I'm sure with more viewings I will love it even more but for me I think skyfall will always remain my favorite Bond movie, casino coming in a close second, until we see what we get with Bond 25!
Oh and that line Some of you said that Lea spit out while Bond was being tortured that felt out of place, I didn't see it in this version.

This what I find fascinating from going through the reviews. Some of the very same people who have criticized SF for massive plot holes are singing the praises of SP, even though, from what I have read, it also has convenient contrivances & shoddy retcons. I have always said that SF was so good in other areas that its acknowledged plot holes were irrelevant.

Goes to show that how we absorb a film is very personal and somewhat illogical. That's the beauty of art I guess.

Today I finally get to see what all the fuss is about.
