I hope he has hung up his clapperboard with Spectre.

I really don't want another high profile prestigious Academy Award winning director for Bond. I just want a "Bond director", someone like Terence Young, Guy Hamilton, John Glen or Lewis Gilbert . If it's even possible to find anyone like them now.

I don't want another Mendes film. He comes with Newman and if I have to put up with another piece of crap score from him I'll rip my hair out and change my name to Ernst.

...not a Newman fan I take it? Just kidding... I want a new composer too although I liked the SP score far more than the SF one.

I enjoy Newman's work outside of Bond. His Bond scores are pretty bad to me and make me want the likes of David Arnold or Michael Giacchino to take over.

    A word about Newman.

Before Bond he was one of my favourite composers. Probably in my Top 5.
But his scores for SF and SP have soured things for me. I still enjoy his body of work before 2012 but his Bond scores are the worst he's ever done.

Sadly the same goes for Mendes, SF is by far, by far his weakest directing job in an otherwise great body of work. I was very surprised at that. To be honest, the only thing that saved SF from being a total failure was the exceptional, probably best cinematography job ever, and I am still furious the Academy didn't give Deakins the award. A scandal.

I was being a bit sarcastic but I agree I enjoy Newman and I was maybe expecting more.

And I agree with @BondJasonBond006 regarding Mendes.

I hope Mendes won't be back. I very much appreciate Skyfall but in retrospect he was done after that one already. I am hoping for someone else to bookend the Craig era.

I like Spectre very much. To be honest it is the first Bond film I fully liked since GoldenEye.
Although Casino Royale was very good too.

So Mr Mendes may return. He has my blessing, even if I didn't care for Skyfall.

Yes I also thought the SP score was better than SF too - although still pretty underwhelming

I am no real fan of Newman but in Skyfall there's some really cool tunes ("Shanghai drive" is my favourite) but the SP spundtrack fell quite flat (imho, that is).

But both of his soundtracks are nothing compared to the one of CR or especially QoS

I liked Mendes enough but the personal stuff is just now way too much. Standard mission next time around please. Watched QoS yesterday and really liked how Forster blended art house with non stop action action. Obviously we need someone who can do action well but who can tell a good story as well.

Jaume Collet-Serra. He has directed 3 of Liam Neesons better action thrillers (Unknown, Non-Stop & Run All Night) as well as Neesons up and coming, The Commuter. So at least he knows his way around a thrilling sequence.

As for the composer, I don't really have a choice. Just so long as it is someone who would put aside their own ego, and put the Bond theme in (and not just one bar here, and another there) the film.

Well, if MGW and BB want Craig back, and he says Mendes or Leave, then ... But having said that, I don't want Sam Mendes back. Either bring back Campbell or an experienced spy thriller director the likes of Donaldson or Noyce.

    Yes! Bring back Mendes.
It seems i'm one of the few people on here who loved SP. Come on guys, it's classic Bond.

I think it TRIES to be exactly that ... but it does not achieve it. It has tremendously great moments that seem wasted for the final overall result.

I wish the Mr.White passage would be part of the hopefully better Bond 25 - it's wasted on SP.

SPECTRE's little finger is more Bond than CR QOS and especially SF together.

All depending on the definition of "Bond". SP tries really hard to relive things from the 60s and 70s movies and then mix it with extra layers of complexity. It just does not add up to a good movie. It's like a meal where I you just like or even love parts of it and put the other into the trash.

I think SPECTRE is the only Bond movie I would like to re-edit myself and throw everything out that I dislike and would end up with a movie I would like, too. I keep skipping several scenes - especially in the last third.

Leave out the whole MI6 Building crap, HQ scenes and the insane bridge finale and it becomes a decent Bond movie.

That's why I don't want Mendes to come back - even the problems are more in the writing department I guess. With a better script, maybe he could bring another great one? Probably but I'd like to have somebody else direct B25.

Yes Mendes has had his six IMO. Time for someone new even if that means ditching Craig.

I wouldn't be sad if Mendes returned - Spectre would have been a million times worse if he wasn't there to steady the ship in a frought pre-production which almost saw him leave the production.

I feel it's been too long since we had a really good Bond film. Mendes doesn't quite get it from my perspective. And he brings Newman, who is cr*p.

er…YOLT? surely FRWL was the sixties masterpiece and still reigns supreme as best Bond ever!

Mendes made a horrible mis-judgement re SP so thats it for me, he's done. I have no idea what he was thinking

he was thinking: I failed miserably with SF and now I will make the best Bond since GE. And he did.
He was thinking "half brother..of sorts" , we was thinking connecting all the other DC movies...I cant believe, sitting down now, with hindsight, we would agree that these were great ideas,
is the franchise in a better place with these plots/stories in place or worse, we all have our opinions but my impression is that we have a consensus on this. You can give credit for all the good things Mendes did but, for me, these issues tower above all else.

I have seen tons of people saying the foster brother thing doesn t bother them. Me included.

I never saw anyone say they love it.

I sort of ignore it. It just feels contrived and pointless.
