Use location supertitles (the script that appears on the screen to tell us the location)

TSWLM did too, as did Octopussy (on some prints).

Oh, yes! I'd forgotten about that one, but you are right about the continuing theme from TLD to SP. :)

Yeah sometimes it seems quite superfluous - In SP Bond says to MP that he's going to the funeral in Rome

I think it's just a modern feature of films (and TV news of course). Most films probably use titles nowadays.

Funny! Yes, sometimes the subtitles in films are superfluous to requirements. :D

yeah lol I think that was Naked Gun but I was too embarressed to admit I'd seen it.

I do know one thing albeit trivial. Ever since AVTAK they have never shown a side shot of M's office both oriignal and the new one ...until SF.

    Close the thread dude
  • Interestingly in SF there's no subtitle to announce Istanbul, we (or the audience who didn't obsessively follow production, rather) don't really get clued in until we see the Grand Bazaar. And even then I'm sure there were plenty of people who still had no idea what city this was.

Yea but SP has one announcing London of all places ...and if I remember correctly the Eye is in the shot so duh.

Btw technically this thread isn't about any statistic ...that always throws me off. I keep avoiding it because I think math is involved :D

I believe OP is the first Bond film to have subtitles for the foreign parts? When the Indian guy says 'That's my bed!'

I thought this was going to be how they alternate between major Casino and Hotel setpieces for every film after GoldenEye:
    Casino in beginning of Goldeneye
Hotel in TND where all the Paris Carver drama happens
Casino in TWINE featuring scenes with Electra and Valentine
Hotel in DAD, tricky one to remember for me, but there's the hotel Bond enters looking like Castaway? Does the ice palace function as a hotel?
    Casino Royale
Hotel in QOS, "We're teachers on sabbatical and we've just won the lottery", Oilfinger
Casino in Skyfall, the Macau Floating Dragon
Hotel in Spectre, L'Americain, also to a lesser extent the Morocco lair.

EDIT: @DarthDimi maybe we can retitle/reappropriate this thread into a "Patterns in Bond Films" thread? Then people can discuss locations subtitles and whatever else here.

@NickTwentyTwo: great idea, sir. :) But then it becomes a duplicate thread. ;-)

This topic could have easily gone there. ;-)

Not only that, but a fellow Canadian has already posted my pattern in that thread!

See what I mean? There's a very good reason we don't take too kindly to duplicate threads.

Well it's not the end of the world. Sorry to one and all for not taking the time to see what threads have and haven't been started.
