Star Trek TV-Series (2017)

Guys? Hold the presses. IT'S A GO!!! CBS has announced the return of "Star Trek" to the small screen as well!

The new TV-Series will be developed entirely by Alex Kurtzman and will have close narrative ties with the new films from the rebooted cinematic J.J.Abrahms-universe (In which "Star Trek" (2009), "Star Trek: Into Darkness" (2013) and "Star Trek Beyond" (2016) ):

"Star Trek" (the new TV-series) will launch on January 2017, on primetime on CBS. The new Star Trek will introduce new characters seeking imaginative new worlds and new civilizations, while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966.

If you want to have a good look at what "Star Trek" has to offer you, both on the big and the small screen, you should have a look at this website:

--> "Star Trek: The Original Series"
--> "Star Trek: The Next Generation"
--> "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"
--> "Star Trek: Voyager"
--> "Star Trek: Enterprise"

    Hopefully they feature more alien races that actually appear alien, instead of
    aliens who look like earthlings with a few wrinkles and robes.

    Let's hope this series is better than ST: Enterprise. As long as they keep Rick Berman out of it, then I have high hopes that it will be.

    I think we have separate topics for movies and TV series. Actually, the Marvel Universe and DC Comics Universe topics would become real messy if we also dump all their TV-series in there. Like "Gotham" and "Agents of SHIELD".

    Not really considering the thread is barely used as is. Merging wouldn't hurt anything.

    Star Trek: Enterprise is underrated. The final season was outstanding; Writer/ executive producer Manny Coto really upped the quality. It's a shame it didn't get more time.

    Maybe ST: Enterprise was underrated and if you could say why you think it was underrated, perhaps I'll be tempted to revisit the show.

    The problem with the final season is that by the time it came around, most viewers had stopped watching -- which is why it became the final season.

    Enterprise's first two seasons were too much more of the same we had seen in TNG or VOY.
    With the cliffhanger episode of season 2 Enterprise got one of the strongest seasons (season 3) ever of any ST Show.
    It was one big story arc! The quality of the scripts skyrocketed.
    Season 4 was equally good in my opinion.
    Fatigue and the prequel concept did Enterprise in from the beginning.
    Also to a great extent tv network politics, the people on the top floor didn't even care for having a ST Show in their line up.
  • I also loved season 4 of "Enterprise". It was absolutely great how the Romulans were re-introduced. This season has the best elaborate historical background on that race, and the Vulcans and Andorians.

    Enterprise bombed terribly. I actually was enjoying the show. Loved Archer and the rest of the cast. Will be interesting to see what direction the new series will take.

    This is a great site to indulge yourself in everything that is "Star Trek"

    I'm actually rewatching "Star Trek: The Next Generation" at this very moment. Now halfway through season 1. I actually really liked the episodes 'Where No One Has Gone Before', 'Datalore' and '11001001'. Slowly we get more character background history.

    But still, my favorite series still is "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine".

    Actually, I do have a question now. What do we actually expect from the 6th spin-off "Star Trek" TV-series and the upcoming 50th anniversay film (and 13th film in the franchise) "Star Trek Beyond"?

    I really hope both incarnations of "Star Trek" will retain some of the seriousness, sense of explorative wonder and 'intellectual snobbery' that the franchise had when "The Next Generation"-crew came onboard. I always liked Captain Jean-Luc Picard, and until today he's my favorite Star Trek captain. The films and series in which he played, always felt more spot-on theme-wise and sci-fi-wise.
