All religious people think that their book is the truth and, by implication, the other books are wrong. "Yes, but my book is the truth" No room for words like "possibly" or "perhaps" etc. Religions demand 100% faith and that can't be good for compromise and understanding.

Absolutely. But I am still friends with people of all faiths.

Excellent question. I guess I don't feel a sense of superiority because I and everyone deserve to go to hell because we have not lived with God in charge of our lives. It is Christ himself who is superior, that's why I boast in him and not myself. I have done nothing to deserve to go to heaven - not one iota.

Well given you actually believe all this tosh doesn't that worry you? If you actually 'believe' that you are going to burn in hell for eternity shouldnt you be a teensy bit perturbed? How do you go about you're daily life without having a mental breakdown? Shouldn't you be putting every waking hour into digging wells in Africa and helping the homeless to try and get some credit it in the bank? Why are you wasting your time on here? You won't have a leg to stand on when St. Peter says 'Remember 23rd March 2016? If you'd spent that day visiting the sick instead of typing a load of twaddle on the internet you might have got in but as it is its furnace time for you.'

Go out and do some good deeds @tanaka123 or you're going to burn with the rest of us!

isn't it amazing that Christ himself took that penalty? Even though I deserve to go to hell I won't. There is an amazing offer, a gift of mercy.

Phew you're ok - get of jail free card. Cheers Jesus.

But God sacrificed his Son, to pay the penalty for my sin so that i could be right with him again.

So God created the entire universe so us little beings created in his image could roam about freely (somewhat narcissistic but never mind let's carry on). But then he felt compelled to sacrifice his son (also himself) to appease his own anger that the beings he created did not play by the rules he had created.

Just one question - why? What's the bloody point? I can understand it's rather dull sitting on a cloud all day but why not just get a PS4 instead?

If God was so pissed off at us for living sinful lives why not just make us good rather than all this palaver of sending Jesus?

The whole thing's so illogical and full of holes it might have been written by P&W.

    Priceless.

The truth. It's hard to explain, you just inherently know that the Bible is true when you become a Christian. Sorry, I know that won't satisfy you. I was very anti-Christian before that moment. I guess the proof to me is how the Bible speaks to my heart, I just know it to be true.

Ok hands up. You've done me there. Checkmate.

Might as well close the thread now mods as the debate is over.

Thank you, I appreciate your thoughts. I really enjoy reading your posts about Bond too.

    Bloody hell, @Wiz, savage!

@MayDayDiVicenzo he expressed his opinions just as I and others have, it's really great that we can discuss these things. And I value his input to the discussion.

I don't think I or anyone here deserve hell especially for not believing and I find a God that sends anyone in hell on such criterias utterly despicable.

Yep fair enough. I've only got logic and balance of probability on my side whereas you have the truth.

    I concede.

It's not really a discussion though is it if your view is so unalterable?

Personally I don't have many answers about the universe so it would be nice if you could change my mind as decomposing in a hole in the ground for all eternity doesn't sound a lot of fun.

The difference is I'm open to be persuaded to change my mind if anyone could come up with something even approaching a credible case.

But the religious already know the truth and they will never deviate from this. That is why they are so dangerous.

And unlike other religions our Christians cousins will turn the other cheek, smug in the knowledge that the atheists will get a slight roasting when we pop our clogs.

Indeed. Why can't Muslims just be happy knowing they are right and we infidels will all get our comeuppance?

Isn't it better to sit at home laughing at how us non believers are going to suffer rather than blow yourself up?

There is limited space in Heaven. Only as a martyr killing infidels (doomed for Hell anyway) do you get a free passport. If some true believers were accidentally killed off, they will get their martyrdom, too. So it doesn t matter. Their Shit God is happy just the same. Obeying is everything, isn t it?

They just know it is the truth.

To be fair you want to make sure you claim the 72 virgins special offer which is only redeemable if you blow yourself up on a tube train.

After all heaven would be a dull place without all those innocent young girls to break in.

Mind you I've got a mate who is adamant that 72 virgins would be crap. He reckons he'd much rather have just one dirty slapper. But I'm not sure that's available in the Koran so I've told him not to blow himself up just yet until he gets it checked.

If you believe it so much I'll ask again why are you wasting time on here when you need to absolve yourself of sin by building working sanitation for peasants in the Amazon?

Your 'merciful' God is going to burn you for eternity, which is like a really long time, you know?

You seem pretty calm but I'd be shitting it.

I didn't say you were a troll, I proffered that parroting religious doctrine is basically an archaic form of trolling. Goading people by insinuating you have some kind of hotline to 'truth' and there can be no possible, satisfactory response.

Don't forget the babies with cancer who don't even get a chance to read the bible and embrace the 'truth'.

But God is all merciful just like how Islam is the religion of peace.

It should be laughable but it's not because people are dying due to this bullshit.

Hell sounds like a cosy place to me. No hate preachers, no suicide terrorists, no abortion clinic protesters and gay bashers... since they're all bloody sure they go to heaven.

So I guess we should all do some hell-networking before we get there. It's good to be among friends in a new place. @Thunderfinger can keep us warm by keeping the fires burning, @TheWizardOfIce can take care of the entertainment (gambling and such) and I'll see to it that the chilli peppers get harvested on time. I'd rather be a good person now and become a sinner for all eternity, than to cause death and destruction now only to earn a place in heaven, where eternity seems pretty dull.

God is also in Hell. After all, he broke several of his own commandments.
