He doesn't. I don't think he's ever been into a mosque in his life, and he eats more bacon than I do. But that obviously doesn't matter to people like you, or the bloke in the pub last week who told him to go home (he was born in Reading).
Because that's what all this anger and division and hatred leads to. Ordinary folks being abused in their local because of the colour of their skin. Entire races and nations of people are dehumanised into an "other" that we can keep out of sight and out of mind. But we're never going to defeat Islamist ideologies if we make regular Muslims feel like strangers in their own homes.
I completely despise all religion, particularly the Islamic fundamentalism that's tearing through the Middle East. But when you start treating people's beliefs like a "fucking joke" you're just driving the anger and division that caused this mess in the first place.

@JawsIsAlive I appreciate your nuanced (copyright GustavGraves 2016) and thoughtful post and you're right there are no easy answers like merely closing the borders.
This country is extremely tolerant -to a fault almost - but people's good will is seemingly starting to run out. Islam is not part of our culture however many halal butchers we are happy to let them open. This is now a secular country where you have the freedom to do as you care as long as it doesn't impinge on other people. If you go into paroxysms of rage by a cartoon or at the sight of a homosexual couple it's you that needs to change and be more tolerant not everyone else.
He eats bacon yet he is a Muslim? Isn't he going to burn in hell for that? Given his attitude to pork and going to the mosque why does he still identify himself as a Muslim then? Does he feel the need to do it for his parents? Obviously I can't guess at the guy's motives but you can't say 'oh I'm enlightened because I don't believe in all that guff about not eating bacon and stoning women but I still believe in the rest.' There aren't grades of belief. It's binary either you believe or you don't. Once you've crossed that line and made the leap of faith to reject logic, reason and science you are, to quote @RC7's succinct phrase, a 'fucking joke'. We need stop being so scared to say that. It will take generations of course and won't happen in our lifetime as Islam lags far behind moribund Christianity in dying out in this country but it would be nice to think in another 100 years or so that the UK might be religion free. If people want to live like the Middle Ages then you are still welcome in this country as long as you do it in the privacy of your own home.
Indeed. There is no place for this rubbish in western society (and I'm including your Christianity addiction in that America). If people still believed there was a God of the crops and burnt their children in a wicker man would we just shrug and say 'what can you do? Gotta respect their beliefs'? Or would we bang them up as being totally mental?
Don't know about the rest of you, banging away at a desk like Stephen J Cannell at the end of the A Team, but afraid I don't do this on my own time. I only come here as a distraction at work or when I'm on public transport. I rarely actually take the trouble to log on at home on my laptop. 99% of my vitriol is down to an iPhone and exceptional digital dexterity (which Mrs Wizard certainly appreciates).

But some beliefs are jokes and, when it comes to fundamentalism in any faith but more particularly Islam these days, they are sinister jokes. Maybe it's time to oppose their backward ideas and call a spade a spade. Why anyway would religious beliefs be protected from criticism and scrutiny? Or even mockery?
