I hear so many folks blasting OP (the critics never got past the clown disguise) but I always considered that to be my favorite Moore film. It has a good blend of humor and suspense (like TSWLM)

Absolutely. It's got the absolute lot with the added bonus of Rog on fire.

The bloke really does deliver it all - from lines that only he could get away with 'Fill her up please', 'That'll keep you in curry for a few weeks' and 'Hiss off!' to brilliant tension when the general won't believe him. To all the cretins who can't see beyond it - the clown suit is what makes the scene and if even Rog is starting to panic then you'd better be sure some serious shit is going down.

Top class Moore and who with a pulse can't enjoy that?

OP is a good Bond apart from one scene. The gorilla costume when he pretends to check his watch......totally ruins the tension.

Most dislike the gorilla suit, tarzan or clown disguise.... i don't really mind any of that as none of it really ruins an otherwise good 007 adventure for me - it's the effing breakdown of the 4th wall when bond's tune is played on that sodding flute....

I think they may have received some criticism for FYEO being a little on the serious side. It wasn't quite as successful as MR either, despite doing very well.

So perhaps they felt the need to inject more humour and ended up overcompensating. It's certainly a jolly old Bond film.......a feel good flick.

Playing the Bond theme on his flute was the only good thing about Vijay. All those tennis jokes...useless.

@Thunderfinger, is it a sign of insecurity if one feels forced to confirm one's own opinion to oneself via an alter ego? ;-)

I heartily agree on TWINE. A flawed masterpiece IMO. The fact that it was my first Bond film at the cinema is purely coincidental.

I feel the same about TND. It's a Bond film that I don't need to be in a certain mood for, I enjoy it for being an action film that's never boring, and every penny shows on screen. It also happens to be the first Bond that I watched on the big screen. I don't care for Hatcher's casting, but I think of her as a small cog in a larger machine.

It fascinates me that some aficionados here can rank TLD below fare such as AVTAK and LALD...

Each to their own, of course. But I find it mind-boggling. TLD's first 45mins alone propel it into at least better than average territory.

I agree. TLD has some brilliant moments in the earlier half of the film....in fact, without the later part of Afghanistan and with another actress playing Kara I'd have it as a top 10 for sure, and perhaps close to top 5 film personally.

Indeed. Furthermore, with a few - quite minor - production changes TLD would have ended up as my (and many others') quintessential Bond film... as I outlined in a post a while ago:

I understand what you're staying but my ranking/s, and any future ones, are done purely on how much I enjoy the movie at the time I watch. My rankings have every chance of altering after every Bondathon I do, which is at least twice a year.
