The biggest change of direction for the Bond movie series.

My friend (not a Bond fan, but does like the movies), and I are going to Birmingham tomorrow to watch SF (2nd time for me, 1st for her) and then see the CBSO do a Bond evening at the Symphony Hall. Can't wait!
Anyway, we were having dinner Wednesday and she said "I watched a Bond film last night, getting ready for Friday". I asked her which one.
"The World is Not Enough"
"Oh yea? Did you enjoy it?"
"Well, I used to really like the Pierce Brosnan ones, but now we've got Daniel Craig, they seem a bit, well, silly".
I said yes, the 'Bond world' of the Craig era is based in a grittier place. We both agreed the current Bond is more 'grown up'.

I said that the difference between Die Another Day and Casino Royale, was the biggest change of direction the series ever had between two consecutive movies.

Was I right?
